What is happening to me? in Women's Health ·
Chris Lopez59 said:Have you never heard that a woman's libido actually increases with age? Do you even realize how significant a six-year gap is? 😉

What can I say? If you have a conscience, just handle it yourself or let your boyfriend take care of it whenever he can. If you don't... 😁

I’ve already pointed out several times that I haven't been taking them for six years straight—I just received the prescription six years ago.

Chris Lopez59 said:Some women lose their drive on birth control. You had it before, and now that you've quit, it's spiked. To me, that’s perfectly logical. Your libido naturally increases with age, and you're finally seeing its true potential because there are no pills suppressing it anymore. I don't see what's weird about it or why it bothers you. 😉Just go have sex.

The weird part is that I haven't always been on the pill, so I know what my baseline drive actually feels like.
I've had a prescription for six years, but I've spent more time off them than on them—and while my libido was higher when I wasn't taking them (which makes sense), it was never *this* intense.

It's gone way beyond anything normal, and I'm not exaggerating.
I am constantly aroused without any provocation whatsoever.

I'll have sex with my boyfriend and be satisfied in maybe thirty minutes—he can't even last that long.

God, reading this back... I sound ridiculous.

I used to take Logitech, and they worked great for me.
Back when I had a boyfriend living in Denver, I’d pick them up there since they weren't even available on the US market yet.
Apparently, they're around here now.

My gynecologist put me on Triguilar, so that's what I'm taking currently.
I haven't had any major side effects—the worst were definitely Cilest; I dealt with cramps and light spotting all month long while on those.

The only real issues are the lowered libido, which seems to be a massive complaint among women. Other than that, nothing.

Anyway, my period is nowhere to be seen. I think I'll take another test tomorrow or the day after just to rule out pregnancy entirely, though I don't feel pregnant at all.

Even though I have birth control pills sitting in my drawer, I don't plan on using them. Like you said, if we go by the statistics, what are the actual odds of getting pregnant during those few moments we're having sex? People say it only takes once...

In my opinion, those studies are contradictory and it's hard to draw any logical conclusion from them.
Supposedly, if you have unprotected sex twice a week, there’s about a 35% chance of pregnancy (assuming he finishes inside). As I mentioned, pulling out is supposedly 75-90% reliable, but most people trash that method and don't even consider it actual contraception.
Taking all that into account—if you're using the pull-out method, and considering how difficult it is to get pregnant even if he does finish inside—the chances should be less than 1%.

But, as you can see, it still happens. How many cases of that have we actually seen around us lately?
I've read so much conflicting info that I'm lost—it makes it seem like you could get pregnant even if he just pulls out early!

I’d suggest you at least try the pill. Most women complain about the side effects, but at least you can sleep easy knowing your period will arrive right on schedule.
You won't be harmed by them; once you stop taking them, everything goes back to normal.
If you're healthy and don't have underlying medical issues, there's no reason to fear using them.

When I was actually trying to conceive, he would finish inside me, but it still took us five months to get pregnant. Getting pregnant isn't exactly a walk in the park.

QUOTE]

It’s always like that.
Everyone I talk to says that when you're actively trying, it takes a while, but if you aren't looking to get pregnant, it happens out of nowhere.

Most people I know who deal with unplanned pregnancies say it happened because things slipped or they just weren't being careful enough.

I even know one case where someone got pregnant seemingly out of thin air—he claims he didn't even finish inside her, though he was wasted, so who knows?

I agree with what you said about condoms. We used one, it didn't break or slip off, and he pulled out and finished in the condom away from my body. There is zero chance I got pregnant from that.
What is happening to me? in Women's Health ·
Melissa Brown - I used the withdrawal method for years, exactly the same way Valneahan does.
I never even tracked my ovulation, and nothing ever happened.
I used to be much more laid back about all of this, but now I stress over every little thing (I guess that’s just what happens as you get older).
That's why I insisted on condoms now that I've messed up my birth control; I'm tired of the anxiety, but here we are again.

We only had one unprotected encounter this month using withdrawal, and it wasn't even during my fertile window—yet here I am worrying, even though the test was negative.
I'm being completely irrational and I know you all have a point—I'm just spiraling for no real reason.

I've done plenty of reading on this method and even came across some research findings.
The withdrawal method has been shown to fail in about 18–20% of cases.
The biggest risk with this method is during repeated intercourse, because sperm left over from a previous ejaculation can reach the uterus.
Additionally, in some men, sperm is allegedly released along with the pre-ejaculate—though it's a very small amount of sperm that the uterine lining usually destroys before fertilization can occur.

My boyfriend is 100% certain he didn't pull out too early, and since nothing ever happened before, he doesn't see any reason why it would now.
Logically, that makes sense. Early in our relationship, we had sex multiple times a day using withdrawal and nothing ever happened, so I think the chances of this one single time resulting in anything are zero, especially since it was well before ovulation.
Then again, since I botched my pill schedule, God only knows when my actual ovulation even occurred.
Based on my mucus, it was somewhere toward the end of April (the 25th, if not later).

If my period doesn't show up in the next couple of days, I'll have to make an appointment with my OB-GYN. It's only one day late right now, though—if I go today, they'll just tell me to wait a little longer.
There shouldn't be any serious or long-term complications from those pills; hormones always stabilize eventually.
Still, I’d definitely feel a lot more at ease once this finally starts.
What is happening to me? in Women's Health ·
It might just be in my head, because I’m starting to feel pretty paranoid.
Now I'm even questioning if I can actually trust the results of this test (I know, totally irrational thought.).

Logic and common sense tell me there's zero chance I'm pregnant, but since I messed up my birth control, it's probably just that—hormones are unpredictable and can throw everything out of whack.

Has anyone else here dealt with something like this?

Nicole Parker93 said:Carol Brooks41... if I were you, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Maybe just skip any pills until you get through this next cycle and the one after that, just to let your body reset. As for the high libido? If that's your only side effect, I doubt your husband is going to complain. hehe
The test was negative, so at least you have that certainty. Everything else will level out once your body recovers. Until then, stick to condoms.

I hope you're right.
With everything going on, I feel completely off—like I’m not even myself.

I'm anxious, yet my sex drive is through the roof, which is bizarre because usually, when I'm stressed, sex is the last thing on my mind.

It's hard to explain, but I truly don't feel like myself. I think my hormones might be totally out of whack.

But you're right, what can I actually do?
If I go to my OB-GYN, they'll just tell me the same things you all are saying.
My period is only one day late; if I show up to the doctor now, they'll just laugh at me, especially if I mention my libido is acting up.

Regardless, I still think you aren't pregnant and everything will turn out fine..😉

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come off that way; I was just trying to be clearer.
I'm truly not mad at you.

I don't know exactly how those meds work, but it's tricky when things get "messy" because hormone concentrations vary so much from one pill to the next.

I don't think I'm pregnant either—honestly, I was worried, but once I saw the negative test, I calmed down.

I'm not having any PMS symptoms, nor any signs of pregnancy.
My breasts feel totally normal—no soreness, no swelling, nothing.
Aside from that, it's like I have zero hormones in my system, except for this sudden high libido that makes no sense to me.
It might sound ridiculous, but it's just not normal.

swiftmason8 said:Now you’ve got me confused too... I don't get it...
I'm sure everything will turn out fine...🙄

You shouldn't mess around with birth control pills; hopefully, you can still make this work...
Good luck.

How do you not get it?
I was taking my pills exactly as prescribed, on schedule—from the "start" pack. I took about 5 or 6 when I went on a three-day trip and realized I forgot the pack.
I immediately bought a new pack and started on pill number 7, picking up right where I left off with the first one.
Essentially, there were 6 pills left over in the new pack because I had already taken them from the first pack.

I finished the pack, but instead of stopping, I took the first of those 6 leftover pills.
Is that clear enough now?

Sandra Martin72 said:I think it’s normal because many people experience delayed periods or even skip them for 2-3 months after stopping birth control. I don't believe you're pregnant, and having a lower libido while on the pill is just a standard side effect; it makes sense that it returned now that you've stopped. I don't think it's a major hormonal disorder, just a small imbalance that should resolve itself. My advice is to wait until your next period before starting pills again so you can see how things settle and let your body recover from the hormones. I don't know if you've taken breaks before or how long you've been on them, but regardless of what some doctors say about low-dose options, a break is necessary—at least 2-3 months—to let the body reset because those hormones aren't harmless. Just wait for the next cycle. I took the same ones you did, and they messed with my head so much that I just quit and said "never again." Since I smoke, using pills isn't recommended due to thrombosis risks, which is why I felt so anxious. I decided to rely on my husband being careful, which worked fine before the pills and still works now. I actually attended a lecture where they said the pregnancy risk with that method was even lower than with condoms, since condoms can break or be used incorrectly. People know when they're close, so withdrawal works.

I've taken breaks, sometimes for a full year, because the side effects were too much.
During those times, we relied on withdrawal, but someone close to me got pregnant even though her partner was drunk and didn't even finish—that made me paranoid and completely lose faith in that method.
I've heard all about that supposed "pre-ejaculate" issue, even though I used withdrawal for years without any problems.

I don't think I'm pregnant either; the test was negative, and we were using condoms.
Our last unprotected encounter was April 16th, but he didn't ejaculate inside me, and even if he had, a test would have caught it by now.

The problem isn't that my libido came back—it's that it's astronomical.
I can climax four times in thirty minutes and want to have sex 24 hours a day!
I could barely drive ten miles today!
I'm being serious; I am not exaggerating.

It's like I've become a nympho, good grief! It worries me because it doesn't feel normal.

I haven't forgotten...
Triguilar works in three phases—meaning there are three different types of pills with varying hormone levels.
With Cilest, you can just start a new pack because every pill has the same hormone concentration.
I opened my second pack, but I didn't start at the "start" marker; instead, I just kept taking the pills from the pack I'd left at home.
I picked up where I left off mid-cycle, but once I hit the last pill, I didn't stop—I just kept going straight to the first pill (the one meant to be taken after an 8-day break).
And that first pill doesn't have the same hormone content as the last one.
Three days later, I realized what I was doing and stopped (I probably shouldn't have stopped at all; I likely just confused my hormones, we'll see).

Hey there.

Here is how things stand. Please, don't laugh.

I usually take Triguilar, but I forgot my pills when I started traveling last month. I ended up picking up a new pack in another city and just picked up right where I left off.
I ran into some issues. I was slammed at work, getting home late every night, and just mindlessly popping pills without realizing I needed to stop.
When I hit the "start" mark, I just kept drinking. Basically, from the get-go—I was completely scattered, honestly.

I took three pills before I realized what I was doing. My period started, so I stopped taking them. I probably should have just kept going, but whatever—it happened.
I already messed up this month, so I'm not even going to bother drinking. I’ll just wait and start properly with my next period.

My last period was April 6th. I haven't started this one yet. My cycle is exactly 30 days, so I'm technically one day late.
I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. We’ve been using condoms since I stopped taking my birth control pills—except for that one time, which is why I decided to test.

Based on my tracking, ovulation was around April 26th. I'm not entirely sure how much weight to give that date, but if it's accurate, my period is definitely going to be late.

I’m honestly a bit concerned that I’ve been wound up like this for two days straight. It's becoming a problem.
It’s honestly terrifying. I am incredibly, uncontrollably turned on—I have never experienced a period of desire like this in my entire life.

Is this some kind of hormonal imbalance, or did I just completely screw up with these pills?
I've experienced side effects from those pills myself, and one of them is a massive drop in my libido.
What are your thoughts on this?
Is this normal, or am I just overthinking things?

Susan Diaz91 said:Look... Carol Brooks41, I honestly don't know, so I can't give you an answer. I didn't dig that deep.
The point is, it's possible the tampon slipped, it's possible the OP lost it, or it's possible it's damaged.

Like I said, I barely survived sepsis myself. While we're all sitting here debating whether she lost it or if it just failed... I think it’s much smarter for the OP to just go to her gynecologist. She needs to forget about the shame or the awkwardness.Better to ask why they came in now rather than showing up too late.

I know. I told her that immediately, but she should have gone this past Monday.

Susan Diaz91 said:It’s bad... Vani left a tampon in the bathroom and stayed out all night... When she finally got home, half-drunk, she instinctively pushed the tampon back in (without realizing it was still there) and it just slid right up there...

That's the situation. I know what you're going to say... that it's stupid, irresponsible, or just plain idiotic... but it happens. It could happen to anyone.

True, but the vagina isn't a bottomless pit.
If you have long enough fingers and you're in the right position, you can reach all the way to the cervix.

I assume your friend knew the tampon was in there but couldn't get it out herself (which I get), but for her to push it so deep that she can't even feel it anymore? That's hard for me to believe.

Sandra Martin72 said:You aren't thinking straight. You can't just wait until next week. If there's still something in there, you risk sepsis or going into toxic shock. Not to mention how much of a mess it’s going to become.

Fact.

If it's still in there, your health is already at serious risk. Waiting until next week could mean dying from sepsis.
If you've checked thoroughly and are certain it's gone, then fine.

Sandra Carter77 said:I've decided I'm going to the OB-GYN regardless of what happens. But it won't be until next week... I really hope everything is fine by then!!!

If you wait until next week just to tell them, "Hey, I lost a tampon last week and I'm not sure if it's still inside me..."—you're going to get an earful. Not to mention, it’s potentially dangerous if it actually is still there (though I doubt it).

If you're planning on seeing a doctor for this, do it now (like, yesterday).

How? I honestly don't see how that's even possible.
I get that she might not be able to get it out herself—that makes sense.
But I don't understand how a tampon can just "get lost" to the point where you aren't even sure if it's still in there.

Sandra Martin72 said:I’ve never heard of anyone losing a tampon like that. I don't think it's even possible, regardless of whether the vagina is open or if the tampon is soaked. If I were you, I'd go to the doctor. Or maybe you just pulled it out yourself and forgot because you were drunk? Check the trash can.

Women don't lose tampons on the street every day, but it happens.
If it got soaked or wasn't inserted properly—especially since she was drinking—she probably just caught the string when she went to the bathroom.
She might have even taken it out herself before bed and simply forgotten.
Either way, I've never heard of a tampon being "stuck" so deep that you can't feel it with your fingers.
Honestly, I don't see how that would even be possible.

Regardless, seeing a doctor isn't a bad idea. Just tell them what happened and let them check.
There's no reason to be ashamed.
