Look, if it’s actually in there, there is no way you didn't feel it. Did you even put a finger in there properly?

Did it ever cross your mind to do a little bit of digging on Google before you decided to start this whole thread on the forum 😕?

Is it just feeling really deep, or did something actually slip out?
If you're this worried about it, you should probably just head to the gynecologist and have them take a look.

wearybison8, of course that crossed my mind, and I actually tried it. But since nothing worked, I figured I had to start a thread. I apologized just in case this was already being discussed somewhere else. Honestly, everything feels so deep right now that I can't even reach it, and walking into a gynecologist's office for this is incredibly awkward... but here we are.

The vaginal canal isn't actually that deep—not when you factor in the length of your finger and the size of a standard tampon. Honestly, she should have been able to feel it.

Just let your boyfriend take a look, I'm sure he'll find it 😉
Why would you feel embarrassed seeing a gynecologist? You might blush a little, but they'll barely even notice 🙂

I mean, I’m not entirely sure 🤷
A tampon isn't exactly tiny enough to just vanish into thin air while you're out in the middle of nowhere 😕
If you were just wrapping up your cycle, I'd assume things were pretty dry by then—which makes it even less likely that it would just "fly out" on its own
Did you ever go back to where you were sitting and check if there was any red staining in the grass? 😁

It’s probably buried too deep for me to find, and honestly, walking into a gynecologist's office for this feels incredibly awkward... but, well... what can you do?

Look, those doctors have seen absolutely everything under the sun,
so there really is no reason to feel embarrassed...
It isn't some grand scandal, or even a shame, really...
Just tell them straight up that you fell asleep with a tampon in and now you're feeling uncertain about things...
Truthfully, they'll probably just see you as a responsible person who made a mistake...
Well, yeah...
Good luck...

Sure, but maybe when I was frantically searching for a tampon this morning, I just ended up pushing it even further in?! Not "maybe," either—I’m pretty certain I did.

Goodness, I’ve been seeing my OB-GYN regularly for years now, but honestly, I’d be absolutely mortified to show up with a problem like this.

If you honestly think it’s just sitting in there somewhere—even if you have to go digging for it—instead of actually going to an OB-GYN to get it out, you’re basically asking for sepsis. 😢

This is absolutely wild! 🤣 Just stick your finger (middle or index 😉😁) in as far as you possibly can (all the way to the end), and if you don't feel it, there is zero chance it's actually in there

Look, I’m fully aware of the situation. I know I can't just leave it in there—it's a foreign object, and that's a recipe for disaster. But when I can't feel it? It's frustrating. I'm not even sure if it actually slipped, though I have my doubts... I'm honestly at a loss here. That's why I'm turning to you all for advice. I was hoping someone might have dealt with something similar, because I really don't want to have to make an appointment with my OB-GYN over this.

Look, if you actually shoved it further up, you would have felt it—you can't just miss it entirely, so that theory doesn't really hold water. If you can't get it out yourself, you're going to have to head to the ER. It might be a little embarrassing, sure, but your health is way more important than five minutes of awkwardness, right? 🙂

p.s. You’ve just gotta go in there and tear the place apart—don't hold back—because if it's actually in there, there is zero chance you won't find it!

Hey Hannah Patel28, I hope you're right about this—it’s not like you haven't dealt with something similar yourself. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully, my luck turns around soon.

Calm down, you're panicking over nothing.
There is zero chance you pushed it so deep that you can't feel it with your finger. If it’s still in there—there is no fucking way you won't feel it.
The vaginal canal isn't that deep—lady, seriously, relax.
It likely fell out, or you pulled it out yourself and just don't remember.
If it were still in there, you'd feel it with your finger.
Besides, you're supposed to push a tampon in until it's as far as it goes to seat it properly.
Push your finger in as deep as you can, or ask your boyfriend—he'll have an easier time doing it than you.
If you can't feel it, it fell out. There is no way it "got lost in the depths" because those depths are only about a few inches long.

Stop panicking for no reason; if the tampon isn't there, there's no need to see a gynecologist.
But, if you're really that much of a worrier, go just to settle your nerves.

I'm telling you straight—if it's still in there, you would have felt it, because you physically cannot push it that deep.
If you're still unsure, try squatting and bearing down—that's what you do if the string is lost and you can't grab it with your fingers.
That's usually how they come out, but if you can't feel it with your finger (even after pushing as deep as possible), then it's 100% gone and fell out somewhere.

And if it were still inside you and your period started, it would be so soaked that it would just slide right out.

Look, it fell out. I'm almost certain.

Look, since I’d had quite a few drinks, I honestly can't remember if I even went to the bathroom or what... but I was talking to a coworker today and she really managed to stress me out. She insisted that if I can't feel it, then it's definitely still tucked away somewhere inside, and that I absolutely have to see a doctor, blah, blah, blah... I get all that, obviously. It’s just that I’d hate to think that if I can't find it, something bad might happen in a few days, God forbid. I just want to be certain—if I can't feel it, then it's truly gone. But, of course, nobody can tell me that for 100% certain right now.

Look, if you've gone in as deep as you can and still haven't felt anything, I’m 100% certain it slipped further up.
Maybe when you were heading to the bathroom and pulling your underwear down, you accidentally snagged the string—that's happened to me before.

Here is what I would suggest:
1. Ask your boyfriend to check; he'll definitely be able to reach deeper than you can.
2. Squat down and try to bear down—if it's still inside, you should at least feel a sensation of something being there.
3. Try sitting in a full bathtub and soaking for a while. Sometimes when I'm swimming in the ocean, my tampon will slip right down toward the opening. I usually have to sneakily push it back in until I find a private spot to change, because once it absorbs water, it gets heavy and swells—in those cases, it just slides out; there's no way it gets stuck.

What size was the tampon?
Mini, regular, or super?
