I don't get it.😕
Got that Pagefile issue sorted, so I'm out 🙂
Good night, catch you guys in the morning 👍

FJ FJBG! 😉 😁
If I remember correctly, Windows 98 actually had a more intelligent defragmenter than 2000 or XP. Wasn't that the case?🤔
You get to decide how big it should be.
It’s better if you keep that page file size constant.
Say, let's set both the min and max to 768 instead of having them at 384 and 768.
It just runs smoother that way.
Like I mentioned before, and rowdytrucker27 pointed out too, you're better off putting the page file on a separate drive.👍

The pagefile.sys can get fragmented just like any other file Windows touches....

Spot on.

My Pagefile isn't just on a different partition; it's sitting on an entirely separate drive.
I don't see how moving the Pagefile to another partition on the exact same drive would actually help performance. Why bother?
Performance shifts usually come down to whether the Pagefile is sitting near the center or the outer edge of the disk platter.
vividstag31 said:I never actually said the Pagefile can't be fragmented internally. What I meant was that the Pagefile CANNOT be fragmented on the drive where it’s located. I only brought that up because I've seen plenty of comments claiming you shouldn't put the Pagefile on the same drive/partition if you want faster disk defragmentation.

The Pagefile CAN be defragmented. If you want to rely on garbage tools like the built-in Windows defragmenter, that's on you, but don't act like an expert on things you clearly don't understand.
vividstag31 said:Look, buddy, I know exactly what a Hard Drive can and can't do. It seems like you don't even realize that a Hard Drive doesn't actually have physical cylinders. It just has heads and platters; those cylinders are purely virtual. Since you don't get that, you also don't realize that a Hard Drive can't move each head individually—they all move together at once. That's why I said it's theoretically impossible for a system to be faster if the Pagefile is sitting on a different partition of the same drive.
