Sleep and Insomnia Help in Psychology ·
Kevin Nguyen3 said:It does. When the body is under stress, it always reacts by trying to release that tension somehow. Sleep is often one of those early warning signs—an indicator that something is happening in your daily life that your ego just can't handle while you're fully conscious.
The issue is that most people try to explain insomnia (in general) through every possible lens *except* acknowledging that their current circumstances—like stress at work, family drama, and things of that nature—are directly contributing to poor or non-existent sleep.
Even people who claim they are sleeping fine will wake up feeling completely drained and exhausted.
Since this seems to be the starting point of your problem, it would probably be best to look into some alternative ways to find relief.
There are various supplements or herbal teas that can help relax you and make your sleep deeper and more restorative. (For instance, things like chamomile tea or Valerian drops are proven to help).
You can pick them up at "Suban" and they are all natural-based, so there’s no risk of dependency and they have little to no side effects. (Just Google it).
You really ought to avoid heavy medications—especially if you're just taking them because some old lady in a small town told you to—or, in an absolute extreme case, only take them under strict medical supervision. And even then, any change, no matter how tiny, should be discussed with a doctor.
But honestly, that should be one of the very last options, as it usually requires seeing a psychotherapist and receiving a specific diagnosis.

Lately, I’ve noticed I’ll wake up with my fists clenched or find myself white-knuckling a pillow in my sleep.
Now I finally realize why.

Usually, when I struggle to sleep, people suggest a blend of Valerian, Lemon Balm, and Chamomile.
To be honest, searching for potential side effects didn't even cross my mind; I mean, it's just tea, right? It's not like it's going to hit me like a freight train. 🤣

I think I’m going to go check it out now. 😳

Honestly, I feel like a saint when it comes to sleep habits after reading through everyone else's experiences here. 😬

jadewolf16, you definitely have some unconventional routines going on. 😁

I’m curious, though—does this fragmented sleep pattern actually mess with your day-to-day life, and how are you holding up at work (assuming you're employed)?

I get where you're coming from. But honestly, don't go making a whole production out of it if you can just toss and turn for a bit and eventually drift off anyway.

I noticed Nicholas Gonzalez8 brought up those affirmations earlier. I actually read about them in a book once, though they didn't exactly do much for me—my issues run a little deeper than that, and I'm not really in the mood to dive into all that right now.

I'm mostly just curious about the logistics of meditation. Is it better to practice during the day, or should I be doing it right before hitting the hay?

Susan Jackson12 said:I’m on the same page here, honestly. If you think the original is good, the AB Ripper from P90X2 actually takes things to a whole different level. I’ve also found that Catha Friedrich STS ABS gets the job done just as well if you're looking for something effective.

Thanks a bunch. 🙂

Susan Jackson12 said:I just don't see what the point is in doing 180 sit-ups; it feels like a total waste of energy.

feralmaker12 said:Everyone seems so obsessed with sit-ups lately, yet if they actually took five minutes to Google some actual fitness science, they’d find half a dozen exercises that are way more effective for core strength.

😲

Since I'm clearly out of the loop here, would anyone mind dropping a link if it's not too much trouble?
Also, does anyone have an opinion on whether those ab workouts from Insanity are actually worth the hype?

I was actually thinking about changing my handle to Brooklyn if that's an option.

Or maybe just shortening it down to crimsonfox26.
You can go with Brooklyn or crimsonfox26—just let Nice know which one you land on.
