People really sleep on Armageddon. You’ve got Bruce Willis playing the guy who basically refuses to die while saving the planet from some politically incorrect asteroid, and then there's the stunning Liv Tyler... well, she's just there being gorgeous. Oh, and Ben Affleck is in this too,

... and then we can get back to this whole review thing. Honestly, I think Michael Bay is a terrible director. Like, I’d probably put Boll higher on an imaginary list of bad directors than him. I don't think anyone directs movies as irritatingly as MB does—if you can even call what he does "directing" in the first place. I guess I haven't seen one of his films yet that didn't eventually just drive me absolutely insane.
Ebert's take on "Armageddon" pretty much sums up his entire career: "Take any 60 seconds of this movie and you've got a trailer." Yeah, that's basically Michael Bay for you.
😂 or just direct every song and you've got a music video. And the sentimentality? It feels like it's being bought at a discount from some cheap roadside vendor.
Wow. So they finally figured out a way to get your nicotine fix without actually lighting up a cigarette. 😁 Now we just have to wait for someone to stumble upon a way to detox from these damn e-cigarettes.
I actually enjoyed the movie. Viggo Mortensen really caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s not like I have anything against him or anything, but he absolutely nailed this role. The whole vibe of the film just works for me. Some people might find the pacing a bit sluggish, but honestly? Those 100 minutes flew by for me.
"Oh, please. Who's actually crazy enough to keep a log?" That would be my contribution to this thread if there weren't so many of you out there meticulously tracking everything. Personally, I don't keep any kind of list. I don't even bother remembering the movies I watch unless they’re truly exceptional. To me, that's fine—it means I’ll never run out of things to watch, whereas you organized types end up bickering the moment you hit a dry spell and realize you've run out of ideas. 😉
Right now, I can't stop thinking about Jim Carrey. Despite all the absolute garbage he churned out during his "career," he actually managed to pull off one incredible performance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. That’s the one film that earns him my respect. Everything else? Pure contempt. Well, maybe not *everything*
ps. I am honestly exhausted by this endless cycle of infantile bickering, constant quoting, and general spam you all keep posting. Grow up.
Success through a different route 😁 The issue isn't actually about finding the money to fund films. It’s about how we pick which ones get the green light. We need some actual oversight and structure there. Let's face it, our domestic film industry is way too small to survive without some level of federal backing. No sane person is going to dump money into filmmaking when they know just how much garbage ends up getting produced anyway. ☕

It’s one of those rare Lynch films that doesn't leave you feeling like a deer caught in high beams, paralyzed while some speeding semi-truck barrels toward you in the dark. It’s different. Instead, it just leaves me feeling hollowed out and depressed. The whole thing is a pretty heavy lift to sit through, but honestly? It’s brilliant. 👍
Personally, I think the album is top-tier. That’s not saying that just because I’ve been following their stuff for years, though. The foundation they built here is solid enough—they could have leaned a bit more into the sampling side of things, I guess... but those rhymes? Pure classic hip-hop energy, to be honest. It’s a lethal combination 😁
Well, look at that. The album’s been out for four days now and not a single thread has popped up, so I guess I’m forced to be the one to kick things off here.
I haven't actually managed to get my hands on a copy yet, so I’m curious to hear what you all think. So far, I've only heard "The Way It Is" and "State of Mind," both of which hit pretty hard on the first listen. Plus, knowing how much influence lvky had on this project, I have a feeling we might be looking at a total classic.😍

Haneke, but who else 😉
Nobody brought up the Alien movies. You know, those sprawling space voyages, colonies scattered across hundreds of planets, massive corporations owning entire worlds. It’s a pretty likely trajectory, assuming we don't wipe ourselves out first.
Movies aren't baked goods; you can't just follow a recipe to get a specific result. Toss in 10% action, 15% romance, 40% special effects, three big-name actors, and a $100 million budget, and what do you end up with? A whole lot of nothing—basically just Armageddon.
But hey, if we're talking about the bottom line... it made money. If that was the only goal, then it was a total bullseye.

Building 7 copied from Wikipedia At the time of September 11, 2001, Salomon Smith Barney was by far the largest tenant in 7 World Trade Center, occupying ... 64 percent of the building, spanning floors 28 through 45. Other major tenants included ITT Hartford Insurance Group, American Express, Standard Chartered Bank, and the Securities and Exchange Commission.[18] Smaller tenants included the IRS, Regional Council, and the US Secret Service.[18] The smallest tenants included the New York City Office of Emergency Management, NAIC Securities, Federal Home Loan Bank, First State Management Group Inc., Provident Financial Management, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service.[18] The Department of Defense (DOD) and CIA (CIA) 😲
Officially, Building 7 collapsed because of fires that broke out on the 5th and 7th floors. 😕
Honestly, I lose faith in Americans when they build skyscrapers out of paper.
