Lyrica usage and experiences in Health ·
Sarah Wood10 said:I was taking it to deal with chronic migraines, though I'm honestly not entirely sure if it actually made much of a difference for me... I stayed at a 75 mg dose because when I bumped it up to 150, or especially once I hit 300, I felt a little too "euphoric," and since it's also used for anxiety, that can be a bit much. I ended up stopping cold turkey without any real issues, which was a relief, as I haven't really developed a dependency on any of the other medications I've used in the past, like benzodiazepines or Tramal... I suppose I've just been lucky in that regard.

Thanks for the input. I started on 75 mg five days ago and then moved up to 150 mg. Now, every single morning after increasing the dose, I'm hit with dizziness and headaches. Isn't that ironic? The whole point of taking this is to fix my headaches and nerve pain. I have to stay on it for a month. It’s a real problem, though, since the dizziness and head pain usually kick in while I'm at work.

Hey, my neurologist just put me on Lyrica for about a month to deal with some neuralgia.

I’ve been falling down a rabbit hole online reading about it, and honestly, it’s a bit much—everyone is claiming it has horrific side effects or that it’s super addictive. Has anyone here actually used this stuff? What was your experience like?
White bump on my nipple? in Women's Health ·
ruggedscout91 said:It shows up for me too, and if I leave it alone for too long, it starts itching like crazy. I end up having to drain it every once in a while.
Doctors love to make everything sound like some unsolvable mystery, and they rarely give women straight answers about things that are actually just normal skin issues.

Honestly, I’ve been dealing with this for years. I’ve had countless ultrasounds where they tell me everything looks fine, yet that gland keeps filling up. Every doctor I see tells me it’s nothing to worry about, but none of them can actually explain what it is, why it happens, or if there's any real risk—they just tell me not to stress. But it keeps happening, and if I let it sit, the itching is unbearable until I finally have to squeeze it out.
Sorry for jumping into this thread, but reading these posts has me feeling a little uneasy...
I’ve actually seen three different doctors about this exact issue, and every single one of them just sent me home saying everything is fine and that it's perfectly normal!!?? My ultrasound came back totally clear, but I can't help thinking it isn't exactly "normal" to deal with nipple discharge for YEARS.... Do I really need to go hunt down a fourth doctor????

Anyway, I really hope everything turns out okay for you!
Aches and pains everywhere... in Health ·
Sometimes it hits me all at once, just a constant wave of discomfort for a while, and then it suddenly clears up.
I honestly thought my heart was giving out, so I went in for an EKG and some tests, but everything came back perfectly fine.
The doctor started asking about my stress levels and my diet. I didn't sugarcoat it—I told her my stress levels are through the roof and my eating habits are even worse.
She suggested it could just be pure stress, but since I’ve dealt with digestive issues before, she thinks my small intestine is basically reacting to the junk food I've been eating. Apparently, my body just can't process the trash I put in it, which explains the pain. I switched over to much lighter meals, and the pain finally stopped.
Hand cramping right before climax... in Women's Health ·
I get the exact same sensation whenever I get worked up, but for me, it’s just my hands going numb and cramping up... and it only happens in those specific moments. Should I be worried about it, or is this normal?

I deal with these brutal menstrual cramps that basically pin me to my bed for the first two days. I feel completely wiped out from head to toe.
I started out taking Voltaren, but eventually switched over to Nalgesin Forte because they seemed more effective at first and were supposedly easier on my liver. I relied on them for a few years, but lately, it feels like my body has just become immune to them; I take them and still feel like I haven't taken anything at all.
Then I tried Ketoral, but that was a total bust—it didn't help much, and it gave me terrible stomach pain and diarrhea.
I’m honestly at a loss for what to try next. Being unable to function for two days is exhausting, and even just trying to get to the bathroom is an ordeal since I can barely walk.
Can anyone suggest something else that actually works?

For two days now, I've been dealing with this brownish discharge—not thin, but not thick either. I'm worried my period might be starting early since I'm not due for another two weeks, and that’s exactly what happened last time this specific discharge showed up.
If anyone has dealt with this before, please help.
I know I should probably see an OBGYN, but since I have my doctor back home, I haven't visited one here in Chicago yet and I'm feeling a little anxious about it. I'd much rather just wait until I can go back home and see my own doctor.

It could be anything, but it doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. Maybe the stress you're under triggered it, which might also explain why your cycle is off, just like you thought...
Or, it could just be ovulation. I had a similar experience where I noticed brownish discharge during ovulation, and when I finally talked to my doctor, they told me it was perfectly normal for that time of the month.😉
Lumps in my breasts? in Women's Health ·
Carol Brooks41 said:Those lumps usually aren't anything scary—likely just inflamed glands or fibroadenomas—but everywhere I've read, they say you have to take nipple discharge seriously.
I’ve got a pretty large fibroadenoma myself, but discharge isn't exactly "normal," and it definitely needs a doctor's look.

In my case, it was coming from the other breast, and my doctor told me I probably irritated it myself just by messing with it too much. She said if the discharge is white, thin, or cheesy, it's fine...
but if the color changes, I need to call her immediately.
Lumps in my breasts? in Women's Health ·
I’ve got this massive, walnut-sized lump in my right breast that hurts like hell. It shows up right at the start of ovulation and doesn't clear up until my period ends... and it's been happening for two months now.
To be fair, I had an ultrasound about four months ago and everything came back fine. I only went in because I was having some discharge from my nipple (on the other side), and the doctor told me there was nothing to worry about, that it was normal, and basically just to leave it alone...
But now, this huge lump has appeared on the other breast. Like I said, it kind of comes and goes depending on my cycle, and it's incredibly tender to the touch.
About two years ago, I used to get these painful lumps under my armpit. My doctor told me those were just swollen lymph nodes reacting to my cycle and that it happens to some women, so there was no reason to worry. They would swell up so much it felt like they were going to burst, and the pain was intense. Now, I’m feeling that same sore spot under my arm again, but I've never actually had a lump in my breast before. Should I go back in for another ultrasound or what?
Just to clarify, that discharge was on the opposite side...

I actually had a breast ultrasound during my twelfth month of pregnancy, and everything came back perfectly fine...

So, I’m still dealing with PMS, and I just noticed one of my glands in my right breast has swollen up. It’s actually pretty painful to touch... and it isn't just some tiny little lump, it feels genuinely large. Hopefully, it’ll just settle down once my period finally arrives.
I remember having this happen before where the glands under my armpit would swell up and get sore, but my doctor told me there was nothing to worry about since it's a common thing to deal with right before my cycle starts.
I'm assuming it's the same thing this time around...

redpilot37 said:I think your lymph nodes might be swollen, and honestly, there are plenty of reasons for that. It could be anything from a tiny cyst or a little lump to just a basic sore throat—lymph nodes react to inflammation by swelling up. I’ve dealt with this myself; I had a small lump in my pelvic area once, and after seeing a doctor, it turned out to cause some really painful swelling in my groin lymph nodes. Most of the time, it's nothing serious, and it'll probably be something minor for you too. That said, even with malignant issues, nodes can swell. If the pain doesn't settle down in a few days, you should definitely head to a doctor so they can figure out where you need to go next.

I’ve had swollen lymph nodes under my arms a few times, but never in my breast. My doctor told me then that it would just clear up on its own. I’m hoping it’s the same situation here, but if it doesn't go away, I'll make an appointment with my doctor. Thanks.😉

I’m not due for my period until the end of next weekend, but I’ve already started feeling this pain in my right breast. It isn't the whole thing, just the side near my armpit, and if I press on it, the pain is just awful. My nipples were already acting up back during ovulation, and now this specific spot on the right side is killing me. Has anyone else dealt with this? Usually, both sides ache during PMS, but this is the first time it’s just been one side, specifically that spot on the edge...🤷

I was on Augmentin while taking Yaz, and my OB-GYN told me the birth control wouldn't lose its punch. There is a specific group of drugs that actually does interfere, though. I’ll pull up a list from the web so you can check...

Drugs that decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives
Carbamazepine
Ethosuximide
Metronidazole
Phenobarbital
Phenytoin
Primidone
Rifampicin
Tetracycline
Troglitazone

Oral contraceptives decrease the effectiveness of:
Clofibrate
Lorazepam
Oxazepam
Temazepam
Salicylates

Benzodiazepines
Beta blockers
Caffeine
Corticosteroids
Tricyclic antidepressants
Theophylline
Ovaries: Cysts and related issues [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Ever since I stopped taking the pill, my ovulation has become incredibly painful. Does one actually have anything to do with the other? My ovaries feel tight right before my period, but during ovulation, the cramping and tightness hit me day and night. On top of that, my nipples are super sensitive and my discharge has turned into this gelatinous stuff... I’ve never experienced anything like this before. But ever since I quit the pills, I can pinpoint the exact window when ovulation starts and ends, and the pain is just brutal—it's a constant ache for an entire week, combined with the discharge and the nipple sensitivity. Right now, there's this sharp stabbing pain on my left side that's so intense I actually thought it was my kidney! I do deal with cysts frequently, though; last time, I had an 8 cm cyst on my ovary that ruptured on its own right during my period...
Do these painful ovulations have any connection to stopping the pill?

Carol Rodriguez31 said:I stopped taking birth control because it just wasn't working for me; I was on it for about six months. I finished my last pack and then got my period (four days after the last pill, though while I was actually taking them, it came exactly every 28 days). Now I'm wondering when to expect my next one? Is it possible it might be late by a day or two? Before the pill, my cycle used to range anywhere from 28 to 35 days, and this month my ovaries have been aching for a few days, probably due to a cold.

It'll probably be a few days late. That’s pretty standard when you stop taking the pill...

ps. My ovaries are constantly cramping—during PMS and now during ovulation too. It's especially bad on the left side; it hurts if I press on it, and I can feel it whenever I jump or move around. I honestly suspect I have a massive cyst on my left ovary. They've been popping up every couple of months lately... back in November, I had an 8 cm cyst that caused this exact same stabbing pain...

And what happens when I finally see my OB-GYN? He'll probably just tell me, "Oh, your period will be a little late, and when it arrives, the cyst will likely rupture on its own. If it doesn't, come back and $83 go soak up some sun or something." Isn't that how it always goes?

redpilot37 said:Let me throw a question out there too... I went for my OBGYN checkup four days ago and had an ultrasound; everything looked totally fine. Then, two days ago, my period started, but it was just these tiny little clots mixed with blood, which is pretty normal for me. The weird part is how light it's been. On the first day, the flow was so weak that when I got up in the morning, I didn't even feel like I needed to change my pad.🙄Then the second day, it was just those small clots whenever I went to the bathroom, and by late afternoon, it just stopped. Now it's the third day and nothing.😕I should mention that my periods are usually short, but this is definitely a record.😁In these two days, even though the flow was barely there, I went through five pads, and they weren't even full.🤷What kind of mystery is this?😕Why does a period act like this when the ultrasound was perfectly normal just four days ago?

My period once lasted only two days, even though it's usually four. During those two days, I could barely get out of bed because the bleeding was so heavy and full of clots—but then again, that’s my usual deal. By the third and fourth day, all I had was this clear, yellowish discharge. Does anyone know if showering or washing your hair too much during your period actually matters, or is that just old wives' tales? Also, I've dealt with intense ovarian pain both before and after my cycle; normally it's fine, but now the cramping hasn't let up. I have no idea what it is, but it just won't stop squeezing.

I actually asked my doctor about it, and she told me it was just ovulation. My period finally showed up 31 days after my last pill... honestly, the pain was unreal.

Has anyone here actually dealt with suddenly stopping birth control? I’m asking because I finished my fourth pack and stopped, then got my period, but then two weeks later I had this brown discharge and my nipples were aching like I was about to get my period again—except it never happened. The discharge and the pain eventually cleared up... but I’m not due for my next cycle until next week. Any idea what's going on?
