CPU usage keeps fluctuating between 50% and 100% in IT Support ·
To looks to me like what happens when you manually throttle the processor clock speed right in the BIOS; I’ve actually run into that exact same issue before... and then when you go to check the system properties, it just shows you a lower number than it should.

My only real gripe is that the stand and the whole adjustment mechanism feel a bit clunky compared to others.

Well, yeah, it was on sale, and since I’m not exactly rolling in cash right now, it does the job just fine for me.

Well, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this
just now.

And I have to say, I'm pretty impressed... the picture quality is actually stellar. ☕
New build under $550? in Desktops ·
graniteharbor85 said:Honestly, just skip those pre-built setups—especially the ones from Best Buy. They’re all about flashy lights and zero actual performance.

If you've got that kind of cash, this build is your best bet, and honestly? Both of those other rigs you're looking at are way weaker than this:

X4 945 BLACK ED.
SPIRE KEPLER R2.0
GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P
KINGSTON 6GB 1600 MHZ
TOSHIBA 3,5 1TB SATA 3
SAPPHIRE R7 265 2GB DUAL-X BOOST
LITE ON DVD-RW SATA
SILVERSTONE STRIDER 500W 80+
MS PHEONIX MIDI ATX + 90 + 120 MM FAN

= $1283 This includes assembly and shipping via Amazon.

- I made sure you have a solid enough quad-core CPU.
- You're getting a proven, high-quality AM3+ motherboard with some decent future-proofing—stuff like USB 3.0 and SATA 3. Plus, you can easily swap in a much beefier FX 6300/8320/8350 processor later on. That means you can upgrade your GPU down the road too, basically extending the life of this PC without breaking the bank.
- Enough RAM to handle heavy multitasking and those newer, more demanding games.
- A big HDD—don't bother trying to save money with a 500GB model. The price difference is tiny, but games are huge nowadays, and you'll always need extra space for files.
- A reliable, strong enough power supply to handle the current setup and any upgrades we talked about.
- Good airflow is sorted, plus a CPU cooler to keep things quiet, cool, and ready for a little light overclocking.
- There's a reason I didn't go with Nvidia here—in this specific price range, AMD is still the better/stronger play. Specifically, I went with the R7 265 over the GTX 750 Ti.
- Down the line, try to scrape together maybe $40-$$200 for a 120GB SSD. It'll be a total game-changer—basically, your whole system will feel way snappier compared to just running on a standard HDD.

I honestly had no idea they were still stocking Phenom processors in stores.
Best CPU upgrade for an older motherboard? in Desktops ·
Let me jump in here too 😁

The thing is, looking at the support page, I don't see any mention of Phenom support—it just lists Sempron and Athlon chips
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2NMX_SE/HelpDesk_CPU/, which is a bit of a bummer because I actually scored an Athlon x2 4600 on eBay recently and it’s been working perfectly fine, though I know the absolute ceiling for this board is an Athlon x2 6000 since I'm running on an AM2 socket

But now, I've stumbled upon this Phenom x4 9950, which looks like an absolutely stellar processor!

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AM...ZXAGHBOX).html

It says it works with both AM2 and AM2+ sockets, and my motherboard is rated to handle up to 89 W TDP

So, I can't help but wonder what would actually happen if I tried to drop that Phenom in there. I've heard some people say all you need is a BIOS update and that AM2+ chips are compatible with AM2 boards, and I actually just performed a BIOS update via a bootable USB in DOS to get onto the latest 2008 version, which is the most recent one listed on the manufacturer's site. I'm just curious if that Phenom would actually function even though it isn't officially on the CPU list for the m2n-mx-se; I assume it wouldn't work if it's not listed, but I'm also limited to 2 GB of RAM on this setup, so I'm not really planning on sinking more money into this machine while I'm still using this board, but I'm asking purely out of curiosity😁

😉
So, I was looking to pick up a processor through Craigslist, and I told the guy I wanted to go through FedEx because they have that partnership with the site specifically to prevent all those scams. Now this guy is telling me he saw that the shipping would be $20, which just seems impossible—that's way too expensive. I've had FedEx deliver to me plenty of times before and it’s always been around $12, but that was usually through eBay or Bodybuilding.com, and I'm not sure how it works now when you're dealing with a random individual. Does anyone here know how this works?

Is it this?

https://www.overseas.com/private-pricing-packages

I mean, a processor can fit right inside a standard envelope, so it really should just be sent via registered mail. I have no idea where he gets the idea that it costs $20, because honestly, who would ever bother buying something if the shipping fees were that ridiculous?

Andrew Miller102 said:Look, I might act like some kind of tough guy,😁 but seriously, go back and read my previous post. I actually tossed that AOC monitor out, so just forget about it entirely—I almost completely blanked on how great that BenQ 22 monitor actually was. If you're dead set on having a 22-inch screen, just grab that BenQ; honestly, that specific model is a total steal.😉

I'm also a big Van Halen fan 😉 , so yeah. Anyway, I'll do some more digging. Like I mentioned before, there's no huge rush to run out and buy a monitor tomorrow, but I want to get one soon... things feel much easier to decide now that you guys have shared your recommendations. 😉

Andrew Miller102 said:If you’re really hunting for a 22-inch monitor but want to keep things budget-friendly without sacrificing too much quality, you should definitely steer clear of that Dell model. When you look at how that Dell actually performs, you realize it's just your standard old-school TN panel, and for a 22-inch screen, $350 it’s honestly overpriced and not worth the headache.

So, take a look at this link below; it’s also a TN panel, but once you see the price tag, everything becomes crystal clear. Just a heads-up so nobody gets caught off guard: if a DVI cable isn't included in the box, you'll absolutely have to buy one separately. In this day and age, trying to hook up a computer to a monitor using an ancient VGA or D-Sub connection is just a massive mistake in practice.😉

You're basically a legend on the tech forums 😁 and I know you've made that point about DVI plenty of times before, so I totally get where you're coming from—connecting a digital device via an analog signal is pointless. 🙂 That setup is really only meant for those terrible old CRT monitors, but look, let me tell you a story about my old SmartVision 19; back in the day, I had an NVIDIA Gainward card with a DVI output, so I went out and bought a DVI cable to try it out, but I couldn't even get the resolution I wanted, so I just switched back to the VGA I was using 😁 and, honestly, I couldn't tell any difference in image quality with the naked eye via DVI.

But obviously, when I pick up a new setup, I'll be running it through DVI, of course. 😉

That AOC one looks pretty great!

Joshua Garcia3 said:If you're planning on watching movies, you definitely won't be glued to a desk chair staring directly at the screen; you'll likely be lounging on an armchair or a sofa a few feet back. If that’s the case, you should really shell out a little extra and grab an IPS LCD monitor—at least a 22" or maybe even a 23" if you can swing it. The reason I suggest IPS is because the image quality stays consistent even when you're viewing it from a lower angle, like when you're kicked back on a couch.

I've actually been watching from my desk chair for years now, 😬 just leaning back a tiny bit and contorting myself until I find some semblance of comfort, haha.

Anyway, I'll look into that one; I'm also thinking a 22" might be the sweet spot for everything.
Which monitor should I get? in Computer Peripherals ·
I figured I’d throw my question out there too,

I’ve been rocking this old 19" SmartVision LCD for ages now—it’s not widescreen, just connected via VGA analog, though it does have a DVI output. The catch is my current integrated graphics card doesn't have DVI, but I'm actually getting a new dedicated GPU soon.

So, the plan is to upgrade to a larger monitor pretty soon, mostly for watching movies and stuff. I'm leaning toward an LED display since they're sleeker, but I wouldn't mind an LCD if the panel quality is high enough. I'm torn between a 20-inch or a 22-inch model; if I'm spending the money to get something better, I might as well go for the 22", right? 🙄 A 24-inch would be way too much for me, 😁 though honestly, even this 19-inch one doesn't feel small to me—it's just what I'm used to. 🙂

I've been browsing some listings on eBay... everything seems to be LCD, but I have a hunch that LED might be the way to go since they're thinner, look nicer, and generally offer a sharper picture. Or maybe just a really solid LCD with a top-tier matrix.

Here are a few budget options I found, and then the last one is a bit pricier because it's from a retail site rather than a local listing, but it is an LED.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/lcd-monitors/...listing-10983834

http://www.ebay.com/itm/lcd-monitors/...listing-9867534

http://www.bestbuy.com/products/...83/dell-e2214h

Actually, I think I'll settle on the 22". That old 19" widescreen feels a bit cramped vertically, whereas a 22" widescreen seems like the absolute sweet spot.
And honestly, what on earth am I supposed to wrap this two-meter beast in? It’s massive, wide, just... huge. Plus, I’m looking at the fine print here and it says the maximum weight limit is 50 kg, which definitely has me second-guessing things.

Zachary Peterson6 said:...you'll have the cash delivered right to your door by the mail carrier in a few days.😉

Alright, thanks! 😁

Now, about my other question 🙄
Elizabeth Davis said:here is what it says regarding using FedEx for shipping. I am not entirely sure about the exact cost, but if you have the option, it might be a smart move because it gives the buyer peace of mind knowing they will actually receive exactly what they ordered 🙂.

Don't feel like getting up from your recliner, but still need to arrange a delivery?

Then "door-to-door" service is your best bet, which includes:
the courier arriving at your door right at the scheduled time
picking up your package
delivering the shipment directly to the buyer's doorstep

Keep this in mind:
Highlighting FedEx shipping helps guarantee security for the recipient and can help attract more customers.
Once the recipient receives their notification via text or email, they can choose their own delivery window.

Just select the listing you want to arrange shipping for and follow the prompts.

In the end, I managed to sell a few things locally here in Chicago because I specifically listed them as "local pickup only" to avoid dealing with the mail—but of course, everyone still called me asking if I could ship it anyway, which honestly just left me feeling a bit frazzled 🙂. Like I mentioned before, I have absolutely zero experience with shipping anything, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around how it works. For instance, if I take something light down to the local post office and send it to the buyer's address, they won't release the package until the buyer pays up, but how does the money actually get back to me? 😁 Does it go to my bank account through the post office, or do I need some kind of formal business account? -.-

And my second dilemma: how on earth am I supposed to ship a squat rack? It's massive, nearly six feet tall... I could try to find someone local in my city to pick it up, but then I'll end up selling it for next to nothing.

Thanks! 😉
I could really use some advice here. I’m a total newbie when it comes to selling stuff online, and right now I'm looking to offload a few dumbbells. I was thinking about listing them on Craigslist or maybe just right here, but honestly, the logistics feel a bit overwhelming. It's all quite a hassle, and I haven't figured out the best way to handle shipping 🙄 for instance, if I end up selling to someone who isn't living in my neck of the woods, would using FedEx be a decent move? Thanks in advance... 😉
TV tuner card or HDTV monitor? in Computer Peripherals ·
I suppose I should have seen this coming, though I can’t say I’m particularly surprised by how quickly things have spiraled. It feels like we’re all just circling the drain now, isn't it? I’ve been sitting here trying to make sense of the latest developments, attempting to find some shred of logic in the chaos, but honestly, it’s a bit of a losing battle. One moment you think you've finally grasped the underlying pattern, and the next, everything just shifts under your feet again, leaving you feeling slightly foolish for ever having felt confident. It’s a bit exhausting, really, if I'm being completely honest with myself. kaže:
Look, don't sweat it—it’s essentially just a standard computer monitor that happens to have a built-in digital TV tuner tacked on, so there's really nothing to worry about.

Thanks so much! 😉

I don't want to clutter things up by starting a whole new thread...

I managed to get my hands on this Group of 22'' LCD TV monitor

so I was wondering, even though it’s technically a TV, can I just sit there and stare at it all day from close range like any other standard LCD computer monitor?😁

I realize how kind of a silly question this sounds... xD
Trouble waking up in the morning in Health ·
I noticed this thread is pretty old, but I figured I’d jump in and share how I finally managed to sort my situation out xD

Every morning, I used to wake up feeling like I’d been hit by a freight train, which was honestly driving me absolutely insane... 🙄 It would take me until well after lunch just to feel like a functioning human being again

So, I made two simple changes: I started sleeping with the window wide open and made sure to shut down my computer at least an hour before hitting the sack... and man, the difference is unbelievable; I wake up feeling incredibly refreshed and rested. My room is pretty small, and when the PC has been running all day, you can really smell that heavy, stagnant air... the only real downside is during the winter when it gets freezing outside... then I can't exactly leave the window cracked open all night
Maybe I'll try using a laptop instead; at least I can just tuck that away when I go to bed
