Best laptop for school? in Laptops ·
Hey there! I’m looking for some advice on picking out a laptop for my 14-year-old daughter. It’s going to be used strictly for schoolwork—mostly just running Office programs, though knowing how kids are these days, I have no idea what else she might end up downloading or running on it 😁... I was thinking of sticking to a budget of around $550 if there's something decent out there. I don't need anything top-of-the-line, and it definitely doesn't need to be a MacBook; I'm just looking for a solid Best Buy kind of deal for about $550. I'll be shopping online to find the best price, and I've been using https://www.google.com/shopping to compare prices. Thanks!

If you haven't already, just try hitting Win+A to see if you accidentally toggled on tablet mode; it might be hiding things from you.
PS4 500GB Slim - Persistent Issue! in IT Support ·
If you haven't quite caught on by this point... your hard drive is toast. If you've still got a warranty running, just take it back to the manufacturer, but if you're out of luck, your best bet is to simply pick up a new one, pop it in, and get everything installed.
iCloud on iPhone in IT Support ·
Given what you're asking, I’d honestly suggest just parting ways with that iPhone and picking up a Motorola Razr instead; you definitely won't be dealing with these kinds of headaches 😒
So, what was the author actually getting at here? ☕
YouTube app on smart TVs in IT Support ·
"You can't really force the quality to stay at a specific level because YouTube on smart TVs is designed to be pretty smart about it; it constantly adjusts the resolution based on how fast your connection is moving at that exact moment. In a perfect world, you should see things sharpen up after about ten seconds or so once the stream stabilizes, provided nobody else in the house is hogging all the bandwidth by streaming movies or downloading huge files at the same time."
Highways vs. Toll Roads: Google Maps question in IT Support ·
The only way you’d actually save any time is if you take that stretch of the I-70 interstate running from St. Louis to Des Moines (22 miles), but from what I understand, there’s a toll on that section... it might be that Google Maps hasn't updated its routing yet, since I'm pretty sure they let everyone use it for free about a year ago.
Angela Ward12 said:So, I was just messing around with CPU-Z and I decided to pull up my current specs for you guys because why not, right?! Here is exactly what I'm running on this machine!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about the whole Operating System situation, and honestly, it’s such a wild ride, right?! Like, you think you have everything figured out, you’ve got your setup dialed in, and then suddenly you're staring at a loading screen wondering if your entire digital life is about to go sideways! It's actually kind of crazy how much we rely on these layers of software just to make sense of the hardware under the hood, isn't it? Anyway, I'm just rambling now, but man, when things work, they work beautifully, and when they don't... well, let's just say grab a large coffee and settle in for a long night!
So I was just messing around with my setup and thinking about that classic Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1 vibe! Honestly, there’s just something about it that hits different, you know? It’s like that perfect sweet spot where everything just works without all the extra bloat you see nowadays!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about my setup and honestly, man, if you aren't looking at your CPU right now, what are you even doing with your life?! It’s like the absolute heartbeat of everything, the soul in the machine, you know what I mean? I was messing around with some stuff on my rig earlier—just totally lost in the zone—and it hit me how much we take for these processors for granted! You've got people out there worrying about tiny little things when the central processing unit is basically the king of the castle, and if that thing isn't humming along perfectly, the whole vibe is just totally ruined! Seriously, it's the most important part, hands down, and I will fight anyone who tries to tell me otherwise because once you get that core power dialed in, everything else just falls into place like magic!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about that Intel Core i7, you know, and man, it really gets me fired up! It’s one of those pieces of tech that just hits different when you're actually getting things done on your rig!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about that whole Vishera 32nm era, and man, it really takes me back! You know, looking at those old specs, it’s kind of wild how much things have changed since we were all obsessing over every single transistor, but honestly, there was something so incredibly satisfying about that specific jump in tech, wasn't there? It felt like we were finally hitting this sweet spot where performance actually started feeling snappy instead of just being a constant struggle against lag, and I swear, even when you're running something as old-school as Windows 7 Home, those chips still have this certain charm that modern stuff just can't replicate! I mean, don't get me wrong, today's hardware is absolutely insane, but there was a soul to those older builds, a sense of "hey, I can actually play this game if I tweak a few settings," which made the whole PC building hobby feel like such an adventure, you know what I mean? Anyway, I was just rambling, but I couldn't help but get excited thinking about how far we've come from those days!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about RAM, and honestly, you guys have no idea how much of a game-changer it is when you actually get the right amount under the hood! It’s like, people always try to cut corners on memory, thinking they can just squeeze by with whatever's left over from their last build, but man, that is such a huge mistake if you want your system to actually breathe! You really need that extra headroom, especially when you've got a million Chrome tabs open—which, let's be real, is basically all of us—and you're trying to run some heavy software in the background without everything just grinding to a screeching halt! It’s absolutely vital, seriously, don't even get me started on how much smoother everything feels once you finally upgrade!
I'm rocking 8.00GB of dual-channel DDR3 running at 937MHz with timings set to 10-11-10-30!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about motherboards, right? Like, seriously, if you think about it, the motherboard is basically the beating heart and the central nervous system of your entire rig all rolled into one big, beautiful circuit board! It’s like the foundation of a house—if your foundation is shaky, it doesn't matter how fancy your granite countertops are, the whole thing is eventually gonna tilt, you know what I mean? You can have the most insane, top-of-the-line GPU you can dream of, but if you're plugging it into a cheap, bottom-tier board that can't handle the power delivery, you're basically trying to run a Ferrari engine inside a lawnmower! It's wild how much people overlook this part when they're out there chasing specs, but honestly, you gotta respect the backbone of the PC!
So, I was just messing around with my ASUS 970A-DS3P setup—you know, that one where I've got the Intel Core i7 running things—and honestly, I'm just feeling so pumped about how everything is holding up! It’s such a solid little board, really, and even though I'm constantly tinkering and going down these wild rabbit holes with my hardware, this specific build just feels right, you know? Like, it's just humming along perfectly!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about my setup and honestly, I really need to talk about graphics because it's such a massive part of the whole experience, you know? Like, you can have the fastest processor in the world, but if your graphics card is absolute garbage, you're basically playing a slideshow instead of an actual game! It’s just not worth it, man. I was looking at some old parts the other day and thinking about how much things have changed since we were all rocking those older NVIDIA GeForce GTX series cards back in the day, and wow, the jump in performance is just insane! It’s like moving from a grainy black-and-white TV straight into a high-def IMAX theater or something. Anyway, I'm just rambling now, but seriously, don't cheap out on your graphics if you actually want to enjoy your downtime!
So, I was just sitting here staring at my standard monitor—you know, the usual 1080p setup running at a whopping 1Hz—and I honestly started wondering if anyone else feels like they're living in a slideshow sometimes! It’s just one of those things where you're looking at the screen and thinking, "Man, life moves fast, but this refresh rate is definitely taking its sweet time!" It’s such a wild thought when you really dwell on it, but anyway, I'm just vibing with my setup today!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about storage—like, seriously, how much space do we actually need these days? It’s wild! You look at your drives and suddenly you're out of room because everything from high-res photos to those massive game installs just eats up space like crazy, right? Honestly, I feel like we’re all constantly playing this endless game of Tetris with our hard drives, trying to shuffle files around just to make room for one more thing, and it’s honestly kind of a blast if you don't think about it too hard! But man, when you realize you've got nothing left, it's a total trip!
So I was just looking at this 931GB Toshiba SATA drive sitting there, and honestly, it’s such a classic little workhorse, you know? It's just one of those reliable pieces of hardware that gets the job done without making a huge fuss about it!
So I was just digging through my old hardware stash and I stumbled upon this 223GB OCZ-ARC1 00 SATA SSD, which honestly feels like a total relic from a different era, you know? It’s one of those solid state drives that really reminds you how far we've come since the early days of flash storage becoming a thing! Even though it's a bit of a vintage piece now, there's still something so satisfying about seeing these older SATA drives sitting there ready to be put to work, even if they aren't exactly cutting-edge speed demons by today's massive standards!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about how much things have changed, like, seriously, does anyone else miss the days when you could just pop a disc into your computer and actually *do* something? I’m talking about optical drives, people! You know, those little trays that used to slide out of your PC tower like they were offering you a tiny snack, and honestly, there was something so satisfying about that little mechanical click, wasn't there? Now everything is just cloud this and streaming that, and don't get me started on how much bandwidth you need just to watch one movie without it buffering like crazy, it's absolutely wild! Back then, you had your collection right there, physical, tangible, and if you wanted to listen to an album, you just hit play—no waiting for a massive download from some server halfway across the country, just pure, unadulterated speed! I feel like we've traded away so much convenience for this illusion of "digital freedom," and I'm not totally sold on the trade-off because sometimes you just want to own your media, you know what I mean? It’s like having a library in your house versus having to ask permission from a giant corporation every single time you want to read a book! Anyway, I'm just rambling now, but I really think we should all appreciate the glorious era of the CD and DVD before everything became a monthly subscription fee!
So I was just messing around with my hardware setup earlier today—you know how it is when you start tinkering and suddenly three hours have vanished into thin air—and I ended up staring at this HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSC0 SATA CD/DVD drive on my screen! It’s one of those classic SATA drives that just sits there doing its thing, and honestly, even though we live in a world where everything is streaming and digital, there is still something so satisfyingly tactile about having a physical disc drive hooked up and ready to go, right? It’s like having a little piece of nostalgia tucked away in your rig, just waiting to burn some data or pop in an old movie, and I was just sitting here thinking about how much tech has changed since the days of IDE cables and bulky towers!
Audio!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about that Realtek High Definition Audio setup, and honestly, it’s one of those things you just kind of take for granted until you start messing around with your drivers or trying to tweak your sound profiles, right? It’s like that essential little piece of software magic that keeps everything humming along perfectly in the background while you're busy doing much more important stuff!
So, I'm basically on the hunt for a brand-new graphics card because, honestly, my current setup just isn't cutting it anymore if I want to actually enjoy gaming without everything turning into a slideshow!
I mean, if you’re looking to grab something without breaking the bank, just make sure it's for no more than... $667 I mean, if that's really what we're looking at, maybe it's around 2500? Just my two cents! $167 Is it actually worth it though? Like, honestly? I’ve been sitting here staring at my setup just wondering if the upgrade is going to be a total game-changer or if I'm just throwing money down the drain!
So, look, I’m basically just hunting for something that won't absolutely wreck my bank account, you know? Like, I really need a power supply that isn't going to push me into a massive deficit or leave me totally broke, but at the same time, I need a card that actually has a PCIe x16 slot and at least 4GB of VRAM to be useful!
I mean, that’s exactly what I feel like it *should* have, you know? Like, logically, it ought to be there! But man, am I really gonna drop like $250 or $300 on something when I'm honestly not even 100% sure if it's actually worth the hype? It's such a toss-up!
That’s exactly why I wanted to pick your brain about this!

I’m honestly stumped—how can it show 1Hz? That’s basically just one single frame per second!🤔 It feels like we’re looking at a software glitch rather than a hardware failure. It might be worth testing things out on a different PC to see if the issue follows the screen, or maybe just try plugging it into a TV to see if that clears up the communication between the devices.
Best adblocker for Android? in Software ·
You actually have quite a few solid options to choose from, whether you're looking at an Adblock Browser for Android or even using Adblock Plus if you're browsing on the Samsung Internet app. One of my personal favorites is a really clever little app called Blokada, which is great because it doesn't just stop ads in your browser, but it actually blocks them within your other apps too—it’s like having a filter for your whole phone. As for me, I personally tend to stick with AdGuard, specifically the paid version, since it keeps everything running so smoothly.
How to Go Live from Mobile? in IT Support ·
I honestly can't get over how much I enjoy following this specific thread lately, though I know some folks might find my deep dives a bit much! It’s just like when you’re sitting in a quiet little coffee shop in Seattle, watching the rain hit the window while you lose yourself in a really great book—you just want to linger in that feeling for as long as possible. Every time a new perspective pops up here, it feels like adding another layer of flavor to a complex dish, making the whole experience so much richer than if we were just shouting one-liners at each other. I love the way we can all sit down, virtually speaking, and peel back the layers of these topics together, almost like a group of friends dissecting a classic film over a long weekend brunch. There's a certain rhythm to these discussions that keeps me coming back, and I truly appreciate everyone who contributes to making this such a thoughtful space. kaže:
I just finished running that app update, and honestly, it feels like I finally swapped out my old, clunky sedan for a brand-new electric vehicle—everything just feels smoother and more responsive now. YouTube Well, it finally happened—that "Go Live" icon popped up right when I was looking for it, and just like that, the stream was officially underway!
I'm actually a little lost now—where exactly is that supposed to be showing up? Which YouTube link are we talking about?
Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone could walk me through what comes next? This is my very first time diving into something like this, so I'm still trying to find my footing!

Just click on those three little dots sitting there in the bottom right corner, and once you select the share option, you’ll see a whole bunch of different ways to send it out—everything from WhatsApp and Gmail to Viber, or you can just grab the link and copy it.

I think I finally get why you’ve managed to rack up about 60 posts in just three years... it’s because there isn't much substance behind them. Jokes aside, I'm not trying to be dramatic or act like it's the end of the world, but those are just the facts as I see them.

ironcyclist58 said:You guys just don't get him. He’s basically saying the audio in that video was swapped out for some random track. All he’s trying to figure out is which actual music video it came from. In the second clip, he uses the same footage but stripped away that fake audio. He doesn't have the original soundtrack... if he did, he'd just throw it into Shazam and be done with it, but he doesn't have it.

Way to go, Mephistopheles! It feels so good to finally run into someone who actually gets where I'm coming from. 😉

analogwalker2 said:Well, if that's really the situation we're looking at, then we are talking about a total suicide mission! An impossible task! Perhaps the only way forward would be to blast this same question across every single corner of the internet—maybe some random person on a different forum might recognize the clip? But even then... honestly, it feels like a lost cause.
Doesn't that sound exactly like something Jerry Seinfeld would do on CNN School? You know, take a clip of some politician speaking and then just overlay your own commentary right on top of it!
And remember, that footage being used in the clip doesn't necessarily have to come from a music video; it could easily be pulled from a Hollywood movie, a documentary, or something similar.
EDIT
Maybe there is one more Hail Mary pass here,
if that video happens to be hosted on YouTube, he could try dropping a comment directly under the upload asking the creator for the source. Who knows? Maybe the person who posted it will be a good Samaritan and give him the answer he's looking for!

I’ve already tried using Shazam, but honestly, it’s not doing me any favors this time around. The person who uploaded the video—this DJ MM character—is being super tight-lipped and won't say a word about which music video it actually is. I was kind of hoping someone might know of a solid alternative, something similar to how you'd use Google Reverse Image Search where you just upload a screenshot and it spits out all the websites where that specific image has popped up. It feels like there should be a version of that specifically for video, but apparently, a tool like that doesn't exist quite yet! 🙂🙂

Look, I’m not really concerned about Jane herself... my point is that this entire "music video" for the remix is basically just a montage of various different video files. I’ll say it again: the audio and the visuals come from two completely separate sources. In the original footage, you're actually looking at music videos by other artists entirely. It’s exactly like if I were to download an Eminem music video right now and just slap some Mike Kovac audio over the top of it. You'd watch the clip, recognize Mike's voice, but you wouldn't have any idea who the guy on the screen is because you don't know Eminem. Does that make it a bit clearer what I'm getting at? If it helps to put it another way... I'm just going to leave this right here for you guys. Is it a singer, or what was that song called again?

I think I might have worded things a bit clumsily earlier! What I’m actually hunting for is the original track—you know, the specific song and artist playing in that clip of the four dancing cats? I'm also trying to track down the song used in the music video where the whole scene takes place in a nightclub. I've got Shazam on my phone and all, but unfortunately, it isn't quite designed to identify music playing directly inside a video file.

Is there some kind of site or tool where I can just upload a video, have it run an "analysis," and then spit out links to the exact same video elsewhere?

Edit: What I'm actually hunting for is identifying the song playing in this video. Any ideas?

It’s honestly getting a little ridiculous out there; my 1080 is sitting at about $220 more than what I paid for it just five months ago 😲 If I had only realized I should have grabbed four of them back then, I could have basically walked away with one for free after reselling the rest 😁
How do you back up your most important files? in IT Support ·
Personally, I’m still a big fan of using HDDs... grabbing a 4TB drive for about $100 might not sound like a massive amount of money at first glance, but it really all depends on what kind of data you're trying to stash away. Right now, I’m running three different 4TB drives and they are getting pretty close to capacity because I store so much UHD video footage on them; when you consider that a single high-quality movie can easily eat up 50 to 70GB, those costs start to add up faster than you'd think! That said, if you're just looking to back up basic stuff like documents, family photos, or videos with a lower bitrate, picking up a 4TB HDD for $100 is honestly a pretty cheap and efficient way to go.
