Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
fadedcrane36 said:The more I read through these threads, the more I’m convinced we’ve all been hit by the same localized disaster! 🙈
I was there yesterday—sat in line for a full hour and a half... 🍿

Anyway, I won't drone on too long, but I am actively looking for a new doctor or clinic around the Spanish District, Precko, or somewhere nearby?! 🕺
If I manage to find someone decent in the meantime, I’ll be sure to share my experience. 😉

If you mean the lady over at the Jarun clinic, she was actually out on vacation this past Friday.
They had a substitute covering for her,
and honestly, my husband almost gave the guy a hug when he finally saw him! 🤣 🤣 🤣
In all the chaos, I completely forgot to ask where he usually works when he isn't filling in at the Jarun location.
Also, since she got back, she hasn't entered a single one of my husband's medical records into the system.
My husband has quite the temper—so I usually just listen to his complaints with one ear turned away—
but even my daughter went with him once and told me that the lady was being downright rude.
It’s a bit strange to me, though, because the one time I ever encountered her personally, she seemed perfectly fine.
But I simply refuse to wait around like that. I actually ended up quitting my job at Ericsson just to avoid dealing with situations like this.
It really makes you wonder how both of her male substitutes managed to handle everything so efficiently and quickly.

It’s the same old story—you could go to Spanish, Precko, Rudes, or Jarun...
and honestly, I just want somewhere where you aren't sitting there for thirty minutes waiting for a single person to see you. It’s funny how things shift, isn't it? We had this one doctor who went away for her specialty training, and while she was gone, her substitutes were actually doing a fantastic job—they were attentive, they had a great approach with patients, everything was smooth. But then she comes back, apparently she let a nurse go (or maybe the nurse quit?), brought in someone new, and suddenly we're right back to square one: sitting in the clinic for hours on end, much like those endless waits we used to endure at the Ericsson clinic under the previous doctor...
I am an absolute empath,
and honestly, the current situation with my father’s health is just draining the life out of me—it’s overwhelming. I’ve struggled with insomnia for a while now, but lately, if I manage to squeeze in six hours of sleep over a forty-eight-hour period, I consider it a win. My body is basically staging a protest: digestive issues, cramps, constant jitters, nausea, and this lingering weakness. It’s exhausting, isn't it?
I actually tried a quick session of Gestalt therapy, but let's be real—therapy is a long game for someone like me, and it takes real work.
Right now, I'm leaning into things like intense exercise, positive self-talk, and stuff like that.
A good massage helps me unwind just a little bit, though.
My next move is to increase my magnesium chloride intake—transdermally, of course, because why not?—
and track down some passionflower supplements.

Baroque Chamber in Health ·
Does anyone here have any actual, hands-on experience dealing with diabetic foot issues and the Baroque Chamber?

It’s been quite a while since we last touched on this topic—has anyone encountered any instances of Baroque Chamber symptoms over on the West Coast side of town lately?

Can a surgeon provide a recommendation directly, or am I absolutely forced to go through the Veterans Affairs Medical Center?

Aside from blood pressure concerns, are there any specific contraindications regarding the use of the Baroque Chamber?
I was reading somewhere recently—I can't quite recall if it was in a medical journal or just some health blog—that people suffering from a pneumothorax aren't supposed to enter a Baroque Chamber. Isn't that a bit concerning? One would think the pressure changes might complicate things, wouldn't they?

Benjamin King2 said:Try booting the computer from an Hiren CD to run some hard drive diagnostics. While you're at it, maybe run MemTest to check the RAM status. Since live OS environments use very little memory, it’s entirely possible that your RAM is just healthy enough to launch a live OS, yet fails once you try to load anything more substantial.

I ended up leaving it to a real IT professional—who, after six grueling hours, managed to rescue my Windows files—but he told me straight up that I need to buy a new hard drive.
Is there some sort of inherent flaw in the HP Pavilion g7 series that causes hard drives to quit like this? It hasn't even been two and a half years... I actually have an old laptop from nearly a decade ago where the hard drive is still going strong.
Is there anything I can actually do to "protect" a new hard drive so it lasts longer?
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
So, I’m downloading this—if my memory serves me right—Microsoft comes packed with a whole bunch of different tools,
but which ones would you actually suggest? Specifically, if there are several different options for running hard drive diagnostics,
it's been quite a while since I last messed around with it,
though the last time I got hands-on was when I managed to bypass a neighbor's admin password using some online tutorial...

But first, I'm just waiting for a friend to drop off an external drive so I can move all my files over from the D drive.
Who knows how this whole situation is going to play out.

Nothing seems to be working—I’ve tried installing Windows Vista and even Windows XP,
but I’m starting to wonder... is there any way to install Windows using a Linux Mint live USB? You know, the kind where you just run it off the thumb drive without actually installing the OS first?

My Windows crashed because of this
http://superuser.com/questions/45171...ed-use-any-way , and then my entire C: drive just vanished—I couldn't even see it when I tried accessing it through Linux. It’s a relief that I use my D: drive for most of my storage, but still, it is incredibly irritating.
The installation DVD actually showed me the C: partition, but...

Now I’m running into issues with the actual installation,
First off, it got stuck on "expanding files" for hours during several attempts; I tried different DVDs and even made a bootable USB,
then I went looking for AHCII settings. I simply cannot find that setting in the HP BIOS on my Pavilion g7 laptop—it is so obscure! It’s such a pathetic BIOS with hardly any settings I can actually tweak. I eventually just clicked "default settings"—supposedly AHCII should be enabled by default if what I read on a forum is correct—and it finally started moving,
but it has been running for three hours now and it's only at 95%.

If my memory serves me right, a Windows installation should be much faster than this...

What else could cause the "expanding files" stage to hang, besides overheating, AHCII issues, or RAM problems?
If the memory were faulty, wouldn't Linux have frozen up too?

Apparently, if you move away from Windows 7—which seems to have this specific issue where the expansion hangs and the installation fails—and try Windows Vista or something similar, they don't run into these exact same problems. BUT, it really gets under my skin knowing that this machine worked perfectly fine on Windows 7 for two years without a single hiccup, and now suddenly I'm stuck like this.
I would honestly just switch back to Windows XP, but I heard support is ending in April 2014.

edit - it's sitting at 100% now

EDIT 2 - It restarted and has been on "completing installation" for about 15 minutes now.
I stumbled upon an interesting link that offers a few more potential solutions
https://social.technet.microsoft.com...w7itproinstall
As for the stuff about floppies or HT in the BIOS, I don't recall having those options at all. At this point, I'd feel terrible interrupting the installation since it has already come this far...
What's the point of required reading? in Students & Teens ·
I honestly feel so lucky that school requires
assigned reading. If it weren't for that, my daughter wouldn't touch anything except maybe a Winx Club magazine, some Barbie news, Smib, My Planet, or perhaps a stray recipe for chocolate chip cookies.
I actually started bringing her to the local library when she was just three years old—
we made it a regular habit to go every week for storytime sessions and picture book readings, which we always paired with some little creative art projects.
It’s quite ironic, really... as much as I live for a good book, she seems to actively dodge them—my own daughter!

At least she did "inherit" the ability to read from me,
which means she’s actually the fastest reader in her class—both in English and her other subjects—which caught me totally off guard, considering how many years we spent working with speech therapists.

Which painkiller should I use? in Health ·
wiredpuma5 said:Tramal isn't worth much. It just increases your risk of getting hooked.

Honestly, it’s not useless—when it comes to a toothache, it's worth its weight in gold.
I've tried Voltaren and Ibuprofen, but they barely did anything for me; I ended up popping way too many milligrams and dealing with a nasty bout of diarrhea because of it...
But with Tramal, even just 50 mg a day is enough to dull the pain just enough so you can actually function normally...
Gerald Kern77 said:Just a quick addition—for spreading fat across the thigh, a decent spray bottle works wonders (I have a Fackelman one, glass bottle, spray mechanism). It allows me to mist olive oil—the only kind I use—across a large area while using very little.👍

I actually saw that in an advertisement ages ago,
but I just can't seem to stumble upon it whenever I'm at the grocery store...
steeltinker11 said:That sounds wonderful!! So, my plan—if this works out—is to just head down to my local GP and ask for a referral to a plastic surgeon... which is pretty much what I was thinking all along... once I get back from my beach vacation, that is. I know there’s usually about a two-week recovery period involved... so, naturally, I only took a single week of vacation time... oh, dear... I really am my own worst enemy sometimes... 😉

I wouldn't recommend Springfield...
If I recall correctly, you actually have a thread about that over on IBM...

When the baby finally "arrives"
You basically learn how to leap out of bed every two hours—it becomes second nature, really—but man, when you actually manage to snag five or six hours of uninterrupted sleep? It feels like you've been blessed by the heavens themselves. ;-)

I haven't actually tried mushroom oil myself—has anyone here had any experience with it? And I suppose taking Omega supplements alongside Diane would be a smart move, wouldn't it?

My sister used to take it, and while it did help regulate her cycle, it didn't seem to do much for anything else, really.

I find myself agreeing with that assessment—it certainly feels that way to me.

insulin resistance issues.

Could you perhaps elaborate a bit more on that?
Period every single day in Health ·
I’ve been thinking—it seems like some people have actually managed to sort out their cycle issues just by taking evening primrose oil along with an omega 3-6-9 supplement... though I suspect there might be some sort of specific timing or monthly regimen involved to make it work properly, right?

In my sister's case, her cycles finally became regular again, but—and here is the catch—her skin became an absolute nightmare. We’re talking about a situation where even antibiotics couldn't touch it. She’s always been someone who avoids harsh chemicals—you know, she really dislikes the idea of "poisoning" her system with things like Diane—but now she’s back on the Diane to keep things stable, while simultaneously starting a series of chemical peels 😢. It hasn't been an easy road, though; she has truly struggled with all of this throughout this past year

Sandra Hayes88 said:Here is a third example—my husband suffered a herniated disc about six months ago.
The doctors prescribed him painkillers, sent him through physical therapy, ordered steroid injections, and then—get this—they actually gave him ANTIDEPRESSANTS (really???).
Nothing worked. So now, he has taken matters into his own hands (AGAIN) and went to see a chiropractor, where he is already feeling some relief—all while his doctor basically tells him to just accept it and learn to live with chronic pain forever.

😲
So, yes, blindly trusting doctors...👎

Could someone send me a PM with some info on that chiropractor? I might be able to convince my husband to go. He’s been suffering for years, but he's terrified a chiropractor might make things worse. Aside from the hernia, he deals with this constant pain near his shoulder blade—sometimes it's mild, sometimes it's intense—and occasionally, during heavy physical exertion, it almost paralyzes him for a moment.🙄

Could I be lactose intolerant? in Health ·
I seem to recall hearing somewhere—though I can't be entirely certain of the source—that if you go too long without consuming dairy, you actually lose some specific beneficial bacteria in your gut. Apparently, this makes it harder to digest milk later on, whereas people who drink it every single day just breeze right through it without any issues at all.

It’s one of those little health tidbits I think I picked up along the way...
