jadetrucker43, just leave it alone for another year... maybe start picking up parts one by one for a new rig around Black Friday if you really want to. That processor is still solid enough, and you can snag used DDR3 RAM for like 150-$67 easy. 4GB should be plenty for you.
Yeah, that CPU should be able to hit at least 4.4 GHz, maybe even more, just like my old 8350... that's plenty for now. Just gotta grab some more RAM and depending on what I need, a new GPU or another SSD.

1440p and 144Hz are non-negotiable. I can always tweak a few settings to keep the framerate up, so I figure an RTX 3080 would handle it just fine. Honestly, I'd even consider ditching the IPS panel if I had to😉
We'll see. Still got some time before Christmas arrives😁😁
If anything, don't pass up on the IPS... IPS is amazing. Refresh rate isn't that big of a deal unless you're some pro gamer grinding FPS titles. For anything else, you don't really need 144Hz.
So, maybe go with an Intel Core? Just running without a dedicated GPU for now, or if it fits, grab an Intel Core... Could be a way to put something together...
Sounds like you might be dealing with a bug in your network drivers (LAN/WLAN adapter)... I've run into this before. To be sure, you'd have to mess around with Driver Verifier, but that's a massive pain...
Right now, SSL is pretty much the only way to go. If you aren't using it, you're just asking for trouble... leaving yourself wide open to someone spoofing the server to drop malware on you. Once your client is compromised, even your future SSL connections won't be safe.

That is fucking terrifying. I mean, who the hell would even bother stealing an account like this..??!!
Just imagine if this wasn't some random forum, but your Chase bank account, or Amazon, or something actually important. Then you'd get why this is scary. Especially with all those sketchy sites out there trying to fish for your private info and credit card details under the guise of "verifying your identity."🙄

Is one link "fake," or does the other one have some kind of special feature the first one is missing...?! I'm not even sure how to phrase the question properly, but I'm genuinely curious about the explanation...
HTTP is just basic web traffic. By default, it's unprotected (though a site owner can choose to add security). HTTPS uses SSL to protect the connection, making it nearly impossible to crack quickly. That means your private info stays private, unlike when you're posting on an American forum (even direct messages).
That's why your browser is screaming at you about security. If you're on public Wi-Fi—like at a Starbucks or some random hotspot—someone could intercept your data and hijack your login for the forum, or worse...
Got no clue. I vaguely remember seeing stuff like that back in the day in PC Gamer magazines—stuff involving QBasic and all that. If a kid actually wants to get into this, they could just dive in with Unreal Engine for visual effects or whatever... Down the road, they can pick up the mainstream languages easily enough if they feel like it. Most of the top-tier devs and hackers started out messing around on DOS or Unix machines when they were kids.
