If you want to handle the technical side of things, you’ve gotta be fluent in English, German, French, or maybe Japanese... Tell me you at least know one of those. 😁
The laptop just swaps between them automatically based on what it needs to do... provided it isn't running on battery. Anything else is a headache to tune properly and just ends up killing the components faster. ☕
Susan Price30 said:And honestly, regardless of the forum rules, you could probably sue over this stuff too. You could go after them for damages because of those public insultsor demand a public apology... something like that.
Yeah, you can sue civilly. If you actually know who wrote it, you can take them to court. Maybe try to get a subpoena to unmask them, if that even works. Otherwise, it's all just a wild goose chase...☕
Borrow some RAM from someone else for a few days to get through the grind. It’ll make life easier... or just go out and buy another 4-8 GB. It's not like you're breaking the bank. ☕
Grab the driver from the Intel site first. Go into Device Manager and wipe out the old one—make sure you kill the internet connection first... restart the PC, then just manually install that Intel driver.
So, I've got an AMD FX-8350 and an ASUS M5A99X running perfectly on a Corsair CX750 😁
All that's left is tackling the overclocking... haven't really felt like getting into it yet. Once that's done, we'll see what this rig can actually do.
The VM keeps losing power again, so there's no way I'm getting an i7 and 12 gigs of RAM in there to actually make things run smooth. Besides, setting up a virtual machine is always such a headache for a regular user... Windows isn't even worse, it's just different from Linux. Since I can't stand messing with the CLI, I enjoy the fact that I don't have to touch it more than once a month. 😁
Randy, how’s he supposed to run Windows-only apps? You gotta realize we're talking about an average user here... they aren't exactly tech wizards who can mess around with complex software tweaks.
Got any actual arguments for switching to Linux besides just the price tag?
Got a tip from someone who knows more than I do: "tell him to set the core clock to 1100 MHz and the memory clock to 1250 MHz in Afterburner." Give that a shot... might be some weird driver issue tripping it up when it switches from idle to full load.
Also: "make sure he grabs the latest beta drivers for that thing."
Roger Gray8 said:Quick update: I’ve been digging around online and it looks like everyone is dealing with this exact same headache... basically, the second my GPU hits full load at 1150MHz, it just overheats and dies on me. I keep getting that annoying "display driver stopped working" error message. If I somehow manage to keep it running at a measly 400MHz, then I can actually play stuff, and even though MSI Kombustor works at that speed, the performance is honestly terrible—I mean, I can run Fallout 3 on Ultra at 75fps if I throttle it down to 400MHz, and GTA V stays around 40-60fps with decent settings, but it’s painfully obvious the card is capable of so much more than this.
How do I fix this mess? And also, is it possible to install drivers without using Catalyst? I’m starting to suspect the issue lies somewhere within BBB.
Intel A10 6790k, 4GB RAM, VTX3D Radeon 7770 1GB X-Edition, PSU: Seasonic 430W 80+ Bronze. http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b47...x-edition.html I was thinking maybe it’s a power supply issue, but wouldn't the entire PC just shut down if that were the case?
So, it just throws an error saying the display driver crashed and recovered... though sometimes I actually have to hard reboot the whole computer (especially when I was testing it in Kombustor). Even when I drop the clock speed down to just 575MHz, the thing still crashes out on me...
Seriously guys, help me out here—do you think I should try repasting the card?
Look, just go hunt down a stable driver for your GPU manually. Old ones, new ones, whatever... drivers and Catalyst can be a total mess sometimes. Just install them, test them out, and once you find one that actually works, stick with it.😁
Don't go messing around with your computer if you don't know how to use Google 🤦 at least learn that before you start anything... otherwise my local "experts" end up getting pissed off.
