Rhinoplasty recovery: What to expect? in Health ·
One more question... ladies who have undergone surgery where the muscle between the nose and the upper lip was excised... how is your recovery going??
I'm panicking a little because I feel like my whole face looks slightly "lower," and my smile is just way too wide!!! My teeth are showing much less than they used to. Sure, everything is still pretty stiff, but I'm terrified that the smile won't be able to move back up much further. Am I ever going to get my old smile back??!!🙏

Oh man, looking back at my old bio!! 😂

Ugh, I went through the exact same thing your sister did—looking in the mirror thinking, "WTF was I thinking?"...
Anyway, today marks day three since they took the cast off. My first experience was absolutely brutal; I had the same reaction your sister did. But honestly? Today doesn't feel quite as terrifying. It’s only been a week, and let's face it, the cast was squeezing my face like crazy. I'm just crossing my fingers that the swelling goes down soon! I'm hoping everything is still just inflamed (fingers crossed). It might not look the best from the front right now, but the profile looks gorgeous.🙂

Mind you, I had a bit of a unique situation where the bridge of my nose was wider than the base, so even though the whole thing looks a little wide right now—well, damn, at least it actually looks like a nose!

Ostojić performed the surgery.
Basically, I'll probably head back for a revision if it stays this bulky, though I am starting to get used to it and really hope the swelling subsides over time. Even if it doesn't, I'm actually pretty happy. I was being very cautious from the start, making sure to tell them I didn't want massive changes (even though the change is obvious) and that I definitely didn't want a tiny, thin nose, so I didn't let them take too much off the base. If it stays thick, I can always go back later just to slim it down slightly—it wouldn't be nearly as intense as this current stage.

So, who knows how much more my nose is going to change??? It's been one week since the surgery; is there still a chance it'll slim down naturally?? I'd really love to avoid that revision if I can.

Susan Scott5, for heaven's sake... ladies, please tell me—how long do you actually have to sleep on your back after surgery? And when did you all manage to start eating normally again? Also, when do those first stitches start coming out and all that good stuff...
Basically, today is my second day post-op. I feel completely out of sorts, and this whole "sleeping on your back" thing is absolutely killing me.🙏

I mean, I’m not entirely sure, which is exactly why I’m planning to visit several different specialists—both at major hospitals and private clinics—to get a clear picture. At the end of the day, an aesthetic surgeon is an aesthetic surgeon; I think how much effort someone puts in depends more on their individual drive than whether they work in a public hospital or a private practice. That much is true. But since I'm not just picking up a loaf of bread off a shelf...😁why shouldn't I look at both sides of the coin? You seem convinced there's no difference, but for me, it isn't just about having a "perfect" nose—in fact, I don't even want perfection. My priority is making sure it actually suits my face. There's a real risk that a doctor might focus on crafting a stunningly beautiful nose that looks completely out of place on the rest of my face. And they'd still be able to claim it's a "beautiful nose," adding it to their portfolio of successful cases to show future clients.
It’s not that I have anything against private practitioners—honestly, I don't🙂—it's just that I'm cautious. I need to be absolutely certain before I let anyone start cutting into my face.

Thanks so much, everyone😉

One thing is certain: I am clearly not ready to dive into this just yet. Not quite. I’m going to consult at least two more people—one private specialist and one doctor at a hospital—just so I can compare notes. It might sound silly, but honestly, I’m terrified that if I go with a subpar option, things will only get worse. I'll check in with that highly recommended Borić (to be honest, he's a new name to me) 😁 and maybe someone like Uglešić or Gorazd poj. Just enough to see what their take is.

I actually have this hunch that the hospital doctors might take a different approach; after all, private practitioners are working for themselves and chasing the big bucks. So, I really want to see if their perspectives on the situation differ. Thanks, guys—all the best to you.👋

restlesshound41, thanks for the reply. I'm sorry you didn't have a better experience.😢

He was polite enough to me—really—but there was this underlying awkwardness during our talk. As he’s speaking, you get this vibe of, "I can do whatever I want, just hand over the cash." It felt rushed. Superficial. And yeah, I totally caught that (pre)confidence you mentioned!! That’s exactly what stuck with me. First, I listen to his pitch, then I offer my thoughts, and he’s like, "No, I would actually do it this way" (basically implying: if you don't want my way, fine, I won't do it), but you still walk away feeling like he’s going to steamroll his own agenda anyway. Honestly, while I was walking out, my only thought was to get as far away from that office as possible. Later, I started second-guessing myself, reading comments about how happy people are with the results, thinking, "Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe he knows his stuff, and it'll be fine." Your comments gave me some much-needed perspective, though—seeing that most people seem satisfied made me think, "Okay, this is it. 100%. Appointment set for next week."

But after seeing that negative feedback (which, let's be honest, is what I rely on more when I'm being cautious), I've started rethinking everything. I keep coming back to that "get me the hell out of here" feeling I had leaving the clinic. Anyway, restlesshound41, you’ve really helped me out. At least now I’m questioning if the procedure is even necessary. Or at least, that I shouldn't rush into it right now. Or maybe I should just seek a second opinion. Look, I hate my nose—it's ugly, I get it—but as a chronic perfectionist, I have no idea if any outcome will actually satisfy me. And the worst part is knowing that if it goes wrong, the responsibility is entirely on me.

Ugh, seriously...😢 I was actually planning to call him tomorrow, book a consultation, and just get it over with—I really don't have the mental energy to dwell on this anymore. But honestly, that’s exactly what scares me: the idea that my nasal bridge won't even look right from across the street.🤣 Plus, my nose is already quite thick (the bridge is wider than the tip, if you can imagine how "wonderful" that looks), so things can't exactly get much worse. It's the bridge and that dreaded tip lift that really worry me—I'm terrified of ending up looking pig-like.

And no matter which surgeon I try to find reviews or personal experiences for, it’s always the same story: one person thinks they're amazing, while someone else is left complaining.🙏

So, you both actually saw him and ended up being happy with the results? My dilemma is that I have a very specific jawline—I’ve got a pretty long face, and I'm worried a small, upturned nose just won't look right on me. Honestly, my only intention was to fix this one little bump on top, plain and simple. But he’s out here telling me he should lift the tip and even loosen some muscle tension above my lip. Now I’m sitting here wondering if I'll regret letting him go rogue; if my new nose looks totally off, I am seriously screwed. On the other hand, who knows if the guy actually knows what he's talking about... Truth be told, I'm looking for any horror stories involving him. So far, I haven't found a single thing.

I have a very specific question for Smith. I’ve had a consultation with him, and now I’m sitting here on the fence about whether to go through with the surgery or not. For those of you who have actually been under his knife—how did you get an idea of what the final result would look like? He doesn't use any computer simulations or anything; he just sat there telling me, "I would do it this way, and then maybe this way..." and honestly, it’s left me a little rattled. I walked away feeling like he might just decide to do whatever he wants once I'm under anesthesia... 😁 Basically, I made it clear to him that my main priority is removing the notch at the top, and that I definitely don't want him touching the tip, but he’s insisting on lifting it.
What was your experience like with him? Please let me know if yours were positive or negative—thanks!😁
You know Dr. Smith over in the suburban area near Washington, D.C.? He operated on my mom—she had three severely damaged vertebrae and those disc issues—and honestly, I don't fully grasp the medical jargon, nor do I really get your diagnosis, but whatever. Long story short, the guy is one of the top spine specialists out there. He handled her surgery and everything turned out amazing, even though the damage was extensive and the procedure itself was incredibly risky. I’d definitely recommend him. Good luck.
How to treat a sprained ankle? in Health ·
Ugh, I’m dealing with something pretty similar...🙄
It’s not exactly a blister, but I don't want to start yet another thread just to bug you, so I'll keep it brief here.😳

Not too long ago, this weird little lump started forming on my foot—right on the sole. Honestly, at first, I thought it was just a standard blister, but it never went away. Now? It’s just this stubborn little knot stuck there.🤣
And I have no idea how to handle it. My walking is a total mess now (especially after about thirty minutes in any pair of shoes). My mom suggested it might be from some old, stiff boots I used to wear, but I tossed those out ages ago—and yet, this thing persists. Part of me just wants to get it surgically removed, but then again, who knows how long I'd be sidelined from wearing decent shoes if I went that route?🙏

Any suggestions?

By the way, if you're actually dealing with blisters, Bacitracin helps—they make it in powder and spray form.

Hold on a second... wait, why isn't there a pill for this?? I know my dog got a tablet specifically for something similar after his rabies shot...🙂

Skin issues/breakouts in Health ·
Go to a pharmacy and ask for a clindamycin topical solution. It looks just like any basic rubbing alcohol—smells the same too, and honestly, if you get it anywhere near your mouth and happen to taste it, it’s absolutely revolting 🤣 but it works wonders...

That's what actual pharmacists carry, and I've been using it since I was a teenager. I've never had a single issue, and I don't need any of those overpriced "Clean & Clear" or "Clearasil" gimmicks and other commercialized crap...

Can we please just close this ridiculous thread☕
Thinking about trying drugs in Health ·
Someone’s clearly looking for attention, huh?🙏

Just give the kid some drugs if he's that desperate. Seriously—if he actually has the cash he claims to have, I know a dealer we could work with to set something up. Get him smiling again, and then maybe he can marry me. I might end up being a pretty cheerful (and wealthy) widow before I hit 21, which honestly doesn't sound like a bad deal.😘
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
Well, I guess I’m just one of those lucky people who can’t even touch birth control! 😠
Once, back when my period decided to stage a full-blown protest right in the middle of the day—while I was wearing light blue jeans and sitting through an American history lecture—I ended up having to rush to the ER... My doctor gave me some contraceptive pills to try and stop the bleeding... and let me tell you, I spent the entire day stuck in bed—nausea, sweating, vomiting, stomach cramps... all from just ONE SINGLE pill! Never again.
Maybe I'm just cursed. 😲
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
Hmm...
I deal with painful, heavy periods too...
But here’s my thing:
Mine happen CONSTANTLY. It’s not even a standard 28-day cycle—it’s more like every 10 to 20 days. Some months, I only get about three days of actual "off" time between cycles! At most, I get 15.
I went to my OB-GYN and everything looked fine on the ultrasound—she couldn't find anything wrong—so she just prescribed some birth control to regulate things...
It isn't doing a damn thing for me—it's like I'm not even taking it. Total disaster. I've been bleeding non-stop for 20 days now and I am seriously losing my mind... 🙂
Now I need to schedule another appointment, but of course, I have to wait because the next available opening isn't for another two weeks... 🙄
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of "joy"? Any advice on how to actually fix this??🙂

Alright, fair enough. Look, I’m not saying anyone knows for sure what's going on—I haven't heard of anyone else dealing with this specific thing either... and honestly, it doesn't really point toward anything being wrong.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. It clearly isn't anything serious.😁
