Rhinoplasty recovery: What to expect? in Health ·
It feels like my levels have dropped—and quite a bit, too. Honestly, I’m kicking myself for not pushing for a higher target earlier😢 because I don't get it; things were looking pretty high right after, and now...

Sophia Hill22 said:they give you some kind of sedative before you head into the OR—it left me feeling totally euphoric and blissfully hazy.

They didn't give me anything at all... 🙄

I laid down on the table, they put the cap on my head, and just as they started pulling on their gloves, I actually sat up, swung my legs over, and said, "Okay, I'm good. I'm heading out now..."
They wouldn't let me leave. Then came the little spike in heart rate, the anesthesiologist panicking about tachycardia, and then—zzzz.... 😁

The absolute worst part was lying there after the surgery—those three or four hours in recovery. It was boring enough to drive you insane.

Yeah, except my doctor told me there’s nothing left to be done about it. I’m talking about that lump—he basically said surgery wouldn't fix anything at this point. Honestly, though? I’m not buying it. I’m going to wait a few months and see how things play out; if he just keeps repeating the same line, I’ll head out and get a second opinion from someone else.

For me, it's this little lump on my right side—well, more towards the side—it isn't super obvious, but I can definitely feel it, and ugh, it is driving me crazy!

The weird part? It showed up about two years before my six-month check-up, even though I didn't hit anything or have any kind of injury. Plus, there's no pain.

My doctor basically told me to just wait another six months or a year to see if it disappears on its own. Honestly, I nearly had a nervous breakdown because it felt like he was just saying that to cover himself since he didn't actually know what it was either...

But unlike mine, this is actually visible. I don't really care about feeling things under the skin, but this one is actually VISIBLE!!!😠

Where am I supposed to see her nose?

I'm just another one here who isn't happy with her nose.
steelangler88, please tell me—how long did it take you to recover? Like, how long before you could actually leave the house without all that post-op swelling and bruising holding you back?

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. For me, I felt okay after about 5 to 7 days. I didn't have much bruising, so I just put on some foundation and called it a day. Though, I mostly stuck to short evening walks—I wasn't really out at big social events or under bright lights.😁 But within two or three weeks, you don't really have any issues. At least, I didn't. It all looked a bit strange at first, but nothing too crazy.

jadecrane3 said:I've finally decided to go through with nose surgery... I just had a consultation with Dr. Miller... does anyone here have experience working with him?? Actually, that's not even my main point—I'm mostly just terrified that once it's done, it'll look totally fake, like one of those overly "done" noses you see on reality TV stars. I really don't want that. What do you guys think?

You really need to hash that out with him directly. Be incredibly specific about exactly what you want and how you want it (and then hope he actually respects those boundaries). My results were great in that regard. Mind you, I still have a little bump right in the middle😂—but hey, if that’s just something that settles down over the next few months or was just a minor slip-up, whatever... my nose doesn't look artificial at all. It all comes down to how much work is actually required. For instance, they had to shave down a massive amount of bone on the upper half, but I insisted on keeping my original base. And—just as a precaution—I told them I didn't want an extreme lift, just something slightly higher than what I started with. So, he definitely listened to my wishes there (though clearly, I should have mentioned I didn't want a brand-new bump in the middle 🙄). But anyway.

My advice for that specific fear? If you're really worried about looking "fake," aim for a more subtle change. Don't try to overhaul everything 100%. Go for something discreet; that way, if you decide a year from now that you wanted a bit more or a bit less, you can always go back for a touch-up later. That's much better than overdoing it upfront, because there's no undo button.

And if things just stay the way they are, we can always scare the neighborhood kids—honestly, all their cartoons and stories these days are just nauseatingly pink. A little Boogeyman here and there would actually bring some much-needed balance back to everything... 😱

Amanda Ramirez42 said:I’ve been trying to massage the area, but even the slightest touch is agonizing. I honestly don't know what to do—this past month has been an absolute nightmare. To be honest, I don't think he realizes I didn't envision my nose looking like this (even though he knows), and I certainly didn't pay for whatever mess he's made. I am disfigured! I suspect he'll just dodge the responsibility because he doesn't want the extra expense or the bad PR, so I doubt he'll ever say, "I'm sorry, I could have done better, and I'll fix it on my own dime." I'm mentally spiraling because if it stays like this, I’m definitely going in for a revision—it's just a disaster that I have to wait an entire year to do it, leaving me stuck looking like this in the meantime. I'm praying to God for mercy.

My doctor hasn't shown even a shred of understanding that this was his mistake. Based on how he reacted to my concerns, there is zero chance he'll admit fault. The bump is incredibly obvious, but of course, he refuses to see it. "It's only half a millimeter," he claims. It isn't half a millimeter; it's at least two. And what, should it be centimeters? We went under the knife specifically for those millimeters. 🙄 Honestly, I'm not holding out hope that he'll admit he messed up or even "see" the issue. Maybe in a year or so I'll seek a second opinion—if they can grow an ear on a mouse, surely they can fix this damn bump for us!

It’s been three months for me now. I just had my follow-up, and the doctor said he won't operate again—he claims it's just tissue, not bone or cartilage. Honestly, I don't know. It feels hard.
The thing is, I can't even tell if I actually had this before (this tissue or whatever it is) because my entire nose looks different now—it's likely always been there, it's just more noticeable since my nasal bridge is much narrower now. Regardless, the bump is there and it isn't going anywhere. 😢
It only shows up from one angle (just the right side profile). A straight profile looks fine, front view is okay, left profile is okay. But the right side? Total mess. 🤣
Mainly, I don't think I'm going back under the knife. This surgery was already pretty brutal given how wide my bridge was compared to such a narrow base; plus, it's totally asymmetrical (it was and still is) and I had a deviated septum. I'm not going to keep messing with it, so whatever happens, happens...
So, what about the rest of you dealing with bumps—are you considering a revision if it stays like this?

Brenda Carter24 said:I mean, I don't even know—some kind of neon light therapy where they basically massaged my nose a bit🤷
But it’s just not working, and I'm honestly feeling pretty desperate because it looks like a piece of cartilage popped out or something.
Anyway, it doesn't look hideous, but it's definitely noticeable. I have zero intention of paying for corrective surgery; I just want to know how to force them to fix this and roughly how much longer I'm stuck waiting.🤷
I already shelled out $233 for that light treatment, so I've got no money left for a second opinion—plus, those lights did absolutely nothing, which makes sense if we're actually talking about cartilage issues.

I'm dealing with the exact same thing. Except they didn't even bother with the light therapy or anything else—they just keep giving me the runaround, saying "we'll see" and "it's too early" blah blah blah... When I asked the doctor if I might need another surgery to fix it, he told me it's just tissue (apparently), and that they can't operate on it again—we just have to wait and see what happens. It's insane. It feels like he just took my mom's old bump, shrunk it down, moved it lower, and shifted it to the left.😂

That bump on my nose hasn't quite vanished yet. Honestly, though—my family claims they don't even notice it. I can still feel it, but since the size keeps fluctuating, I’m hoping it eventually just fades away completely.😁 But hey, I guess I’ve gotten used to it.
It feels incredibly surreal that none of my inner circle realizes my nose looks different now.🙂 To me, the change is massive, but I suppose people aren't staring at my profile closely enough to catch the difference at first glance. In a way, that’s a blessing. Just yesterday, a friend saw me for the first time since my surgery during a lecture and simply said, "You look so different today now that you're wearing makeup."😂

There are still a few tiny details—like that annoying little bump that I swear only I can see—that bother me, but overall, I'm really happy with the result.🙄

redridge15 said:steelangler88—I noticed a bump on the right side of my nose today... what's going on with yours now? Has it cleared up yet?

Dammit. I’m only a month out from surgery, and this damn thing just showed up five or six days ago. That’s why it feels so weird—I was under the impression that if there was cartilage damage, it would have been visible immediately following the procedure. Wouldn't it?
I went in for my checkup yesterday, and the doctor is insisting it’s just swelling. Well, fine—whatever he says. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.🤷

Are you actually serious right now? To just show up out of nowhere like that, a full month after the surgery?

Oh, lovely.
Rhinoplasty recovery: What to expect? in Health ·
I've been feeling it in my nose for quite a while now—honestly, I felt somewhat normal after just a week. I’m out here stretching my muscles constantly... 😂

But look... my stupid nose looks different every single day. I'm being serious. Over the last three or four days, I've noticed this lump on the left side—a lump that definitely wasn't there before! It's driving me absolutely crazy😕

My lashes look almost white to me. Like, completely white. Honestly, I don't even care—I've got mascara anyway.🙄

Look, if that lump is bothering you, just go get it surgically removed. You go under, you wake up, and boom—it’s over. No big deal. I actually had mine handled about two weeks ago; they basically just "repaired" the area, and honestly, it was a breeze. I don't even care about the specifics of what they did, as long as it's gone.😁It wasn't painful at all, really. The biggest headache was just having to sleep on my back since I'm a total stomach sleeper!🙄
It’s really not that dramatic either—people get rhinoplasty in the States every single day.
