Is it okay to go braless? in Women's Health ·
I haven't really caught up on the other posts here, but from what I understand about bras, 😬 it’s pretty clear that wearing one 24/7 isn't great for you. It’s not even necessarily about muscle activity; it’s more about those underwires or just the constant pressure of the fabric against your chest. Having that much sustained pressure on your glands and everything else? Not exactly recommended. I never wear one when I'm home. I only put one on if I know I'll be heading out at some point during the day, so I just get ready for the world in the morning. Honestly, it’s just way more comfortable to just wear a T-shirt and maybe some sweats—plus, my family won't even notice if I'm not wearing one, which helps if you're feeling self-conscious. And let's be real, it's much better for relaxing while watching TV or studying in bed... besides, you aren't unnecessarily dirtying your bras 😬, so you don't have to run them through the laundry every other day

Back again with some updates and my latest thoughts... 😬
I’m still convinced I have internal hemorrhoids. I can actually feel something "guiding" things along when I go. Thankfully, the pain and bleeding disappeared about two weeks ago—thank God. I spent this past week out on the coast where the routine was pretty intense, haha. Lots of movement and the water was freezing, which I think really helped. I’m staying strict with my diet and everything else... we'll see if I can manage to heal this on my own, if that's even possible.
I want to thank everyone once more for every bit of advice and comfort you've offered. Dealing with hemorrhoids is honestly miserable. I'm rooting for all of you; I hope things improve for you and that you have a great summer! 🙂

Back again with an update 😬

Basically, before I finally accepted that I was dealing with hemorrhoids, my diet was heavy every single day, I was stressed out, and I was sitting way too much...
Since then, for the last week, I've been sticking to soups and fruit yogurts, cutting back on bread and sweets, and skipping the meat and pizza. Everything feels great!! Maybe for me, this was just a temporary flare-up or a passing phase. I'm not entirely sure how it cleared up, but I hope it stays that way. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone for the help and advice!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you all get past this nasty, frustrating issue soon too... it’s honestly a nightmare when you can't just help your body get rid of unnecessary "extra baggage".... talk to you later!!

Jerry Lee32 said:Ronald Chase2, here’s part of the response Michael Wright4 gave too... this isn't necessarily about bowel movements. Not everyone deals with this every single day. Honestly, it's weird to me that some people do, but whatever. Based on what you described, I think it's definitely hemorrhoids, unfortunately. Don't panic, though. Just follow the advice we gave. It might clear up completely, or maybe not—it all depends on your body. Personally, I feel like I'll be dealing with this for a long time. Once you get it, sometimes it sticks (though I know a few people where it cleared up). This isn't a quick fix; it's actually pretty irritating and drawn out. When I first went through it, my whole world felt like it was falling apart. I'd never been sick before and had no idea what this even was. But it's totally normal. People around me have dealt with it or at least knew what it was. It's a modern lifestyle disease. Also, the cold can trigger it; part of why it happened to me was because I worked in the dairy and frozen section at a shopping mall. But mostly, it's caused by a bad diet, sitting or standing for too long, lifting heavy stuff, and plenty of other things.

Thanks to both of you!!
I'm pretty sure my reasons are definitely long hours sitting and a poor diet. Like Michael Wright4, I've never really liked vegetables. I eat tons of broccoli, carrots, and potatoes, but I absolutely cannot stand salads. 😢 Seriously, it's bad. As for fruit, I love everything, but for the last three years, I've been struggling with allergic reactions to oranges, cantaloupe, strawberries, watermelon, tangerines, and all that sort of thing. I love bananas and everything else I mentioned, but if I have to go to college or work, I can't eat fruit that day. It just keeps happening, leading to vitamin deficiencies and all that. I can't help myself.
Today was another terrible experience. My bowel movement was normal, but it was incredibly painful, followed by an awful stinging sensation that lasted about half an hour. Right now, while sitting, I don't feel any discomfort, and importantly, there wasn't any blood today. It doesn't make sense, but I'm certain it's hemorrhoids. 😢
Starting today, I'll try to force myself to eat fruit if I can, drink plenty of fluids, and limit meat and potatoes or anything else that makes things harder. I'm buying some cream tomorrow.
Thanks again, and I'll let you know how it goes. Phew.

Back here again on this unpleasant topic 🙂 I don't mean anything bad by the subject itself, it’s just sad that things like this even exist—especially for young people like me, let alone a 16-year-old 😢 😢 😢 My bowel movements aren't regular; it's usually about once every three days. Someone might be surprised and think, "Good grief," but this is just how my body works. I eat normally based on what I need, and clearly, it suits my system... maybe years of this cycle have shaped things the way they have, I don't know. Anyway, after a normal movement today—nothing hard or anything—there was a little more blood on the paper and some light itching about three times during the day. Honestly, I'm just trying to figure out the cause, because: I don't drink, I don't eat fast food, I'm not pregnant, and none of the usual suspects listed online for hemorrhoid causes apply to me 😢
I'm going to try to pick up that Hemopropin or Faktu cream you guys recommended to our colleague over the next few days... On top of everything else confusing me, I've also been washing down there with practically cold water for a year now, so I really don't understand how this happened
Hi everyone, see you later 🙂

Hey everyone!
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
William Hayes9, thanks for the heads-up 😬 ... today was actually okay... I don't really feel that discomfort while sitting anymore... we'll see how things go after the "technical" stuff happens (you know, when nature calls)

vividcrane25, I've already cut out all the bad stuff that makes stools hard—things like chocolate, cookies (sigh), toast, and pork for lunch... so we'll see. Thanks so much for the quick product recommendation! 😉 I'll definitely be scrolling through the threads if things get worse, though I hope they don't 😢

Hey everyone... I think my issue fits right in here. I've been sitting for long stretches lately (it's mandatory for work), and over the last two days, I've noticed 😬 some thin streaks of blood on the toilet paper and some discomfort during bowel movements. It’s likely just hemorrhoids. I've never dealt with anything like this before, so I wanted to ask. I tried scrolling through the previous posts, but there are honestly way too many to find a specific answer to my situation... Is there a chance this is just from sitting too much? Will it clear up if I try warm chamomile baths and cut back on sweets, chocolate milk, and stuff like that for a while? I don't really eat fast food, so... help, please. 🙂
Is it okay to get tattoos? in Health ·
Look, you just can't view moles as something to worry about; it's really not a big deal. 😬
Medically speaking, moles are just small, benign growths. Clusters of pigment. That's the whole story.
Some people just have more of them than others—it’s just how they're built. If you're concerned, go see a dermatologist and let a pro walk you through it. Honestly, that's all anyone here can tell you...
What could this be? in Health ·
I’m a million percent sure it’s a blood pressure thing, just like everyone else said. Try lying flat for a few minutes before getting up. Don't just jump straight to your feet; sit on the edge of the bed first to let your body catch up while it's still waking up. I haven't read through all the posts yet, but that’s just my experience—this happens to me all the time, even though I'm perfectly healthy. 😉
Also, certain medications can cause it. It used to happen to me specifically during my period when I'd take an Advil for the cramps. My doctor told me it's a really common side effect of those kinds of drugs...

rowdyheron80 said:Thanks so much for such a long, thoughtful response. It took me a while to process everything you said. 😁 Honestly, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your perspective. Hearing someone else think this way is really encouraging. Also, thanks for the heads-up on the laser hair removal. Everywhere you look, they claim it’s totally painless and easy, but if your friend says otherwise—and she's pretty tough—then I'm betting those ads are just lying to sell more services. I'll definitely be careful with everything. 🙂 🙂

No problem at all. 🙂 It didn't take me long to get my thoughts down, and I know they help. 😉
Regarding the laser thing, yeah, the marketing is full of lies. I know pain depends on how strong the hair roots are, but if you're dealing with a specific condition—something that hasn't been diagnosed for me, for example—you'd probably feel it just as much. Laser hair removal isn't like a barcode scanner at a CVS... it's a specialized tool that moves very slowly, and that initial stinging can become unbearable.
I'm glad to hear that hearing from others helps calm you down; that's how it should be. Stand tall, be yourself, and enjoy your time with your boyfriend. Don't sweat the small stuff. 😉

First off, hi 🙂
I know someone dealing with a similar issue who avoids the sun just like you do. I get it. It’s tough, and I believe you when you say how much this weighs on you 😢 BUT, I’m going to echo what others have said... if your boyfriend hasn't noticed anything after six months, it clearly isn't as severe as you think. The fact that you've managed to handle it without him noticing is honestly impressive 🙂 On the other hand, here's my take: after six months together, you both deserve to know about 99% of each other. Everyone has secrets they keep close, sure, but if you shared what you struggle with every day, I'm certain he would understand and wouldn't see it as "ugly" at all 🙂 Everyone has their battles. Some people deal with skin issues that tank their confidence, too. When things eventually turn intimate, try just opening up to him. At the very least, you'll feel so much more relaxed spending time with him. If he's a good guy, he'll understand and support you 🙂 You won't have to make excuses for why you can't go to the pool or skip certain activities when he asks. I can see you're independent—living on your own, handling college, managing your own finances—so I have no doubt your boyfriend is just as thoughtful and smart. Give it a shot; it will make your life so much easier 😉 😉
Moving on... laser hair removal sounds like the perfect fix, but aside from being outrageously expensive, I can tell you it's incredibly painful. A friend's sister told me she went twice for facial hair (it usually takes 5-7 sessions) and had to quit because she couldn't take it anymore. She’s a tough person who can handle more than most, but she said it was brutal. Honestly, maybe stick to waxing or some bleaching methods to reduce visibility for now, and try not to overthink it. If we actually looked closely at everyone around us, we'd find someone with a similar insecurity. You know what I mean. Also, personally? It's weirder to me when I see a woman all dressed up with makeup and great clothes, but her hair is greasy or her feet look neglected :S So please, try to be easy on yourself. You'll feel better 🙂
electrichound94 said:I don't know—honestly. I suppose if there had been, it probably would have shown up by now.🤷

When was the last time you had a Pap smear or went in for a checkup? You might have picked something up during your last encounter, and it only just now decided to show up in your system. I’m not trying to scare you, but go get checked out, just to be safe. 😉

I have a question... honestly, I can't remember if it was always like this, but lately, I’ve become a total hypochondriac. I start imagining all sorts of major health issues, and then I get lightheaded from pure fear. 🤣 So, I wanted to ask you guys: is it normal to have a yellowish discharge for a few days right before my period starts?
I know yellow doesn't sound great, and that's why I'm worried this isn't right. But I have this nagging feeling I read somewhere that Candida can cause yellow staining on underwear. Actually, my discharge itself isn't yellowish—it’s just that once it dries on my underwear, it leaves a yellow stain. I'm waiting for my period to start in 2 or 3 days.

I actually had one done during my very first checkup. Right after the standard exam.😁
It was totally fine.

🙂 thanks for the support!

It's not that I'm scared... routine health stuff and OBGYN visits are pretty normal for me, so it's not an issue, but still 😁

copperraven53 said:My local public clinic doesn't have an ultrasound machine on-site, so they always send me over to the hospital.

For a transvaginal ultrasound, you need an empty bladder. Don't drink too much water, or you'll end up needing to pee right before the exam, just like 🙂Taylor Smith3
mentioned.
I'm not sure how other hospitals handle it, but at Mercury, they usually do ultrasounds in the morning.

Thanks so much 🙂. I'm planning to head over to Vineyard tomorrow to sign up for my first appointment. Does anyone have experience with this? Can I show up around noon or shortly after to register? Or would 3:00 PM be better? I work every morning, so...
My sister deals with this exact same issue all the time because of her chronic tonsillitis. I know sage tea helps her out—she uses it as a gargle to rinse and disinfect her throat. Honestly, I suspect your bad breath might be coming from your throat rather than your sinuses. Give that a shot. I don't have any better advice for you. 🙂

Alright, sounds good... I just have one more question regarding scheduling. What time of day does this usually take place? Is there any flexibility for an afternoon or midday slot, or is it strictly morning appointments only?
Pelvic ultrasound/ovarian scan questions... in Women's Health ·
hiddenscout362: Honestly, I am worried. I’m really hoping nothing comes back wrong since my only partner is perfectly healthy, and there isn't any history of gynecological issues in my family. So... I don't know how much weight that carries, but I'm staying hopeful 🙂

Also, thanks for the suggestions. So, should I look toward Mayo Clinic or maybe a specialist near Mercy Hospital or something over by the local clinic? It’s still a bit of a mystery where I'll end up going 😬. It sounds like I shouldn't have to pay out of pocket, which is great. Still, I'll bring some cash just in case, since this is a specialist visit. I won't eat a full meal—just some tea and maybe a piece of toast or something light. I know you usually need a full bladder for a standard ultrasound, does that apply to this one too? And does anyone know if I can schedule this for the afternoon, or is it strictly an early morning thing? :S

Jamie Davis17 said:Why go all the way to the hospital for an ultrasound? Most OB-GYN clinics have them on-site anyway.🤷

My gynecologist just opened a new clinic (I live just outside the city, not right in downtown Chicago), and they have an ultrasound machine, but it isn't set up yet.🙄 😁
Pelvic ultrasound/ovarian scan questions... in Women's Health ·
I am not a virgin... I take my health very seriously, so I've been referred for an ultrasound... specifically using a vaginal probe.
I'm not seeing a private doctor; my clinic gynecologist wrote me a referral, which means I have to go to a hospital somewhere in the city. I'm not sure if I should go to Mount Sinai—I know that one relatively well—or somewhere else? I've honestly never been to a major facility like Mayo Clinic or anything similar, so I’d really appreciate any advice. Thanks for all the previous posts here. 🙂
So, I have a referral through Social Security Administration and I also have supplemental insurance, if that matters... will I end up having to pay out of pocket, maybe like 50-$33? (Just guessing at the price, if there even is one)

@Melissa Martinez5/">@@Melissa Martinez5: You've got me a little worried now... was painful menstruation or occasional ovulation pain your only symptom of PCOS?? (sniff...) Because my cycles are usually regular; it's just that the pain has gotten worse over the last six months... maybe because I've become sexually active within the last year. 🤷

And one more quick question... is it better to schedule this right after my period when everything is "cleaner," or does it not matter as long as I'm not currently on it?
