Saw III in Movies ·
Then I'm skipping it. The second one already had me stressed out.
Thrillers aren't really my thing for sequels, let alone an entire trilogy or quadrology...
plus, it looks like they didn't make enough cash, so they'll probably just churn out more gore-fests for mindless Americans to chew on.👎
Luke, I am your father! in Star Wars ·
Jose Grant said:Does anyone have this clip? Doesn't even have to be video, audio works too. Just need that part where Darth Vader says "Luke, I am your father."

anyone got it?

thanks...

I've got it in DIVX if you want me to burn it to a disc and mail it over. No biggie.
I know the whole scene by heart...
Luke (to Obi-Wan): He told me enough. He told me you killed him.
Darth Vader: No, I am your father.
Luke: No! Nooooooooooooooooo!
... etc.

Edward Hernandez332 said:Dustin Hoffman was incredible🙏 🙏 . You actually start worrying about his health, and Tom Cruise just nailed it... he really pulled it off

I'm with you on Dustin, but calling Tom "just okay" is a bit of a stretch

P.S. Thanks for giving this thread its 8th post, I'm making it number 9...

Aditi said:Man, that was such a great movie. What year did that come out again...? 🤔 I remember catching that in SC... pretty sure it was the first time I actually went to the movies without my parents tagging along... 😁

Great movie...
What kind of messed up movies were you watching that required parental controls...

Saddam Hussein: Hanging or firing squad? in Philosophy ·
Personally, I think he deserves life in prison (assuming he’s guilty, which he is). Let him rot in a cell instead of giving him an easy way out with the death penalty. Giving him the chair is just a mercy, and honestly, hanging feels like some barbaric relic from the dark ages...
whatever, killing him is fine by me
burn him at the stake

wearygardener13 said:uh, I was just messing around. That movie is pretty much legendary for being "definitely going to suck"...🤣

I don't know much about Ray Liotta, but I just checked IMDb... probably gonna be crap.

hopefully I will. I'll take any recommendation at this point...
Directors who totally missed the mark in Movies ·
Tarantino’s "Kill Bill." I guess it’s worth a watch, but it doesn't even touch his stuff like
"Reservoir Dogs," "Pulp Fiction," or "Jackie Brown." Even "Four Rooms" was alright, though you have to give credit to all four directors there...

Jose Miller17 said:Alright folks, let’s stick to the point... First off, saying someone hit a crisis because of one movie—especially since the whole afterlife thing doesn't even help that argument—is just kind of silly. By that logic, they'd be in an "eternal crisis"... So, the topic isn't about who "missed the mark" on a single film, otherwise every director in Hollywood would end up on your list... And if we're actually debating *Eyes Wide Shut*, then I'm moving all these posts over there...

Fine, we'll stop here.

I wasn't the one who restarted the debate after my post. 🙂

Honestly, I haven't even seen Magnolia (my bad, feeling guilty now), but everyone keeps hyping it up...

crimsonmoose3 said:Exactly. End of discussion. 🙂

"End of discussion," right? And yet here we are, still trashing this movie.
I don't get the hate for Tom & Nicole. It’s easily one of their best pairings—especially Nicole Kidman. Tom Cruise is maybe only better in "Rain Man" or "Moneyball."

Jerry Morales78, thanks for having my back...

ambertinker77 said:Leonardo DiCaprio, Josh Hartnett, Ashton Kutcher... all their movies

Not sure I totally agree. DiCaprio was decent in "Gilbert Grape," "Sorrow," and "Basketball Diary," though "Titanic" wasn't even that great. Hartnett was good in Sofia Coppola's "The Virgin Suicides," and while you might have a point about Kutcher, I actually liked "The Butterfly Effect"...

P.S. maybe watch a few more movies before you start hating on actors😉

Honestly, I'm just pretty disappointed in actors these days.

So what counts as a "good" movie to you then?😕

crimsonmoose3 said:So, what’s even worth watching in this flick? A husband can't satisfy his wife, so he has to trek across the entire city just to find some action? And then, when he finally makes it to the depraved orgy scene, he can't even join in... 👎 Honestly, his stuff used to bore me—slow pacing and all that—but I actually liked those. This one just lacks the edge, the controversy... It’s like Gus Van Sant was filming under some weird influence...

exactly—"husband can't satisfy his wife, so he treks across the city for fun" and then realizes he messed up at the end. The vibe is solid though, pretty creepy (mostly thanks to the soundtrack). You don't need to overanalyze it—everyone sees movies differently. Some people hated it, and clearly you're one of them.

crimsonmoose3 said:1. Fair point, I messed up there.
2.Not for me though. It’s mind-numbingly boring, stupid plot, dull pacing, a garbage ending, and an orgy scene that was censored so much there isn't even any actual sex...
3.It's a one-and-done for me.
4.Clockwork Orange is a hundred times better than this trash.

Most of the time I'm on board with what crimsonmoose3 picks regarding directors, actors, or movies, but I can't get behind this one.
Look, you can hate the movie or find it boring—taste is subjective and you don't have to rewatch it—but calling it "trash" is a stretch. No Kubrick film is ever going to be total garbage.
Anyway, take it easy...

Honestly, I have no idea why this thread is so dead. This movie is a total classic for me.
With Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise involved, he absolutely crushed that role.

crimsonmoose3 said:Eyes wide open... :rigo:

Point one: Eyes are actually shut (that’s the movie title, "Eyes Wide Shut")...
Point two: It's a great flick. Honestly, Kubrick levels of greatness—might even top "A Clockwork Orange" for me. You can really feel that signature Kubrick vibe. For me, it was just a killer experience...
Pro tip—watch it again...

redorca11 said:De Niro... after those legendary roles in Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Casino, and Once Upon a Time in America, he really let me down with stuff like God Bless, Showtime, Meet the Parents, and Meet the Fockers...

Jean Reno... also a phenomenal actor, but mainly when he's doing those gritty international films. 🙂 I wonder why he even bothered with Rollerball or Da Vinci's Code. 👎 He’s usually a genius though...

Al Pacino... he's also gone a bit off the rails lately with some weak movies, like S1m0ne, or that spy training flick with Colin Farrell... the only decent one I can think of is Insomnia. 👍

These three are my favorites, but every legendary career has its flaws, I guess...

And as far as people who never actually had talent, Keanu Reeves definitely stands out. Terrible actor, feels like there's no saving him no matter how good the director or script is... 😬

Agreed, especially about De Niro and Jean Reno (especially when you remember how he crushed it in Leon

Keanu Reeves is trash too, though he was alright in Point Break or Dante's Peak. Otherwise, he's bad, and The Matrix Reloaded and 3 were just painful...

Ray Liotta. Not exactly my favorite guy personally, but he was incredibly convincing in Goodfellas. Then you see him looking totally desperate in Guy Ritchie’s Revolver. The whole thing was just pathetic, sad, and a massive disappointment...
