How to do CMYK separation in Photoshop? in Software ·
So, from what I gather, this thing is headed straight to the print shop. Honestly, I just don't see why anyone would bother handing over an illustration with all its layers intact, you know? Like, when I'm grinding away on a project, I'll easily be juggling fifteen different layers at once, so why on earth would someone need that mess just to hit "print"? I was under the impression that you only really need the separations on their own specific layers for the final run. So now I'm sitting here wondering if that's actually how things are usually handled in the industry, and more importantly, what's the actual workflow for doing it right? But hey, who knows, maybe I totally botched my understanding of the whole process... 🙂 thanks!

Yeah, okay, I get how channels work, but what am I actually supposed to *do* with them? Like, when you're handing off a job to a print shop, do you just hand over a file that's been converted to CMYK and let them deal with all the technical headache themselves, or are you expected to manually pull out every single color channel for them? That whole "separating" part is what's really tripping me up here...

I couldn't find a dedicated thread for Photoshop stuff, so I figured I'd just throw my question in here—though honestly, maybe I should just head over to the other section!

Thanks!

Hey everyone! So, I’m doing some illustration work in Photoshop and, look, I’ll be the first to admit I’m pretty green here, but I’m totally stumped on what it actually means to hand over a CMYK file organized by layers. I’m too embarrassed to just call up the client and act like I have no clue what they're talking about, so I figured I’d just throw this out here and see if anyone can help me out... 🙈
I mean, sure, I know how to toggle from RGB to CMYK—easy peasy, right?—but honestly, that feels way too simple to be what they're asking for, you know? Is there more to it? Like, is it even possible to separate every single one of those color channels onto its own individual layer? And if it is, how on earth do you actually do that?
I don't even know if I'm even asking the right question or if people will even get what I'm driving at because I'm basically flying blind here, but please, if anyone has some general info or maybe some helpful links on this topic, I would seriously appreciate it... 🙂

Thanks a million!
I mean, I try to give my eyes a break over the weekend, but honestly? During the week, I am staring at screens way too much. It’s getting ridiculous. So, first things first, I definitely need to book an appointment with an eye doctor, you know? And then there's the whole routine—back exercises, dimming the brightness on my monitor, actually taking breaks to look away from the screen, fixing my posture, and making sure my computer isn't shoved right in my face...

Thanks for all the tips, everyone!
So, I actually went ahead and applied all those tips from points 1 and 2, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it actually does anything! Honestly, I don't see much difference in the brightness even though I turned it way down, but who knows? Maybe my eyes just won't pick up on it—I guess I'll find out in a few days when the strain starts hitting!

thanks!
Hey everyone, I’m posting here because I really need some outside perspectives before I go see a doctor—actually, I’m wondering if I even *should* bother going at all...

So, I spend my entire day glued to a computer screen, sometimes more than others, but it’s not unusual for me to pull four hours straight or even grind through an 8 or 9-hour stretch with just tiny breaks. But here’s the thing: after maybe an hour or two of work, I start feeling this intense pressure right behind my eyes and in my sinus area, and then it turns into this absolutely unbearable nausea where I feel like I’m about to throw up any second. Sometimes I get dizzy too, and if it gets really bad, I honestly just have to crawl into bed, totally wiped out and feeling like I’ve caught some nasty flu or something.

For what it's worth, my diet is fine, I don't wear glasses, my vision is perfect, and honestly, I’m usually in pretty great shape overall.
What do you guys think? Is this actually being caused by my monitor, or should I be booking appointments with an eye doctor, an ENT, or a neurologist? Or should I just quit my job entirely and donate my computer to charity? 😉

Thanks!
Art appraisals/valuations? in Classifieds ·
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone here knows where I can go to get some legit, high-quality appraisals for some 18th-century paintings? Like, do art restorers or conservators actually handle the valuation side of things, or is that a totally different beast? And seriously, can anyone point me toward a reliable institution or maybe even a specific expert in the States that I could reach out to?

Thanks in advance!

Alright, I guess I'll just head over to see Dr. Martin after all. Thanks for the input!
Joint pain issues in Health ·
Hey everyone!
I’ve been dealing with aching joints since I was a kid, honestly. Back in elementary and high school, my knees used to kill me, especially at night when everything just feels more intense.
I had some tests done back then—can't quite remember the specifics, but they were all related to the pain—and everything came back totally normal. I even remember doctors telling me it was just because of the weather changes or maybe just because I was still growing!
Around 18 or 19, the pain finally let up, but then a few years later, it hit me again—except this time it’s my hands, specifically my palms and elbows, and occasionally my shoulders too. Lately, it’s been happening almost every single day, and it is just incredibly uncomfortable, plus my hands feel super weak. I stumbled upon something online suggesting that joint pain could actually be a sign of a zinc deficiency.
Other than that, I’m completely in the dark about what might be causing this or how to actually fix it, so I’m reaching out to see if anyone here has dealt with something similar? If you know anything or can point me toward what kind of bloodwork or specialists I should look into, please let me know! Seriously, any advice at all helps! 😉

Thanks in advance!

So, I’ve been chewing on something lately... it’s not like some massive crisis or anything, but I could really use a second opinion from you guys. For the first time ever, my cycle is running late. I’ve actually had the opposite issue in the past—back in high school, I was practically getting them every two weeks! Then things leveled out to a pretty steady 20 or 25 days, and for the last few months, it’s been sitting right at 28. It has never, ever gone over that mark before. But now? I’m already a week behind. My hormones have always been totally fine; every time I get checked, everything comes back perfect. So, what do you think—should I go ahead and schedule blood work for my hormone levels right away, or maybe look into something else entirely? Or should I just sit tight and wait a bit longer? Is it actually normal for things to be late once in a while? Could it just be stress, or maybe this crazy heat wave, or who knows what else? Should I be rushing to get a referral for the OBGYN or just go straight for the blood tests?

It usually runs from the 20th to the 26th, lasting about five days total
I’ve had times where I get it right after the 18th, even when my hormones and iron levels are totally fine😕 but who actually knows with this stuff? It's such a guessing game...

Right now, I’m right in the middle of my PMS☕ and honestly, it’s just pure misery—total temporary depression, feeling like I hate the entire world, zero energy, and being way too sensitive to absolutely everything...
I can always tell when my period is coming based on how drastically my mood swings hit me... sometimes the whole thing drags on for a week... and the cramps? Yeah, they're consistently brutal every single time...
Hormonal pills and hair loss in Health ·
restlessmarlin6, you’re totally hitting the nail on the head regarding PCOS. So, what I'm hearing is—is it basically "goodbye" to hair loss if I actually stick to the pills? Because my friend is out here telling me that those meds actually make your hair fall out even faster, which is just great, right?
I am currently having a total meltdown over my zinc and gin levels. Honestly, who even knows anymore? I won't get the actual results back for another week, so I'm just sitting here in suspense. 🙂
thanks for the answer!!
Hormonal pills and hair loss in Health ·
So, here's the deal—I've been wondering about how messing with hormone pills actually plays out with hair growth and thinning. Like, strictly speaking, if my hair is thinning because of some issues with my ovaries, would taking those meds to fix the hormonal imbalance actually bring my hair density back to where it should be? Can you even fix the hair situation just by balancing the hormones?
thanks 🙂

touch of red is such a killer track for me, honestly, both albums are packed with absolute bangers, and even though I went through that phase where I was totally obsessed with Clayman, Colony, and Reroute to Remain, my all-time favorite is still one of those legendary old-school classics called The Jester raca...
