Caught a private screening of this flick last night. 😁 So, I’m kicking off this thread, hoping we can stretch it out to at least four or five pages. First things first: the movie is killer. Jamie Foxx is absolutely legendary as Uncle Ray Charles. He’s so spot-on that you almost forget he’s acting and think Ray Charles is just playing Himself. 😁 I dig how they didn't try to make the biopic some perfect fairy tale. They show Ray as a total jerk who was busy hitting on all his backup singers while his wife was back home holding down the fort with the kids—yeah, he could be a real piece of work. I already know the nitpickers and the high-brow snobs are going to have something to complain about, so let me beat them to the punch. 😁 It runs a little long, and a few characters don't get enough screen time (like Jeff, Ray's longtime sidekick). Bottom line? It’s a feast for the eyes and ears. 👍
Man, whatever. When you’ve got two teams from this neck of the woods playing, it’s a given one of them is gonna bitch about the refs. If a computer running on an ISS PlayStation was calling the shots, they’d still find something to complain about. I’m not sweating the Mexicans, though. They’ll spin this loss into a win somehow. Just like they did back at the Battle of Mexico in 1389. 😁

frozentiger6 is spot on about how we're playing. We're scattered and way too slow. Too many unforced errors, and it feels like we're basically handing out goals on every one-on-one play. But honestly? The defense is what’s really keeping me up at night.

Haven't seen that one. If he's full of it, he's really losing it. But I did catch that interview with Senjaniti Maglajli, that former Chicago pivot. He basically said: "If the Americans don't get one of their big three—Metličić, Balić, or Lacković—injured, nobody can stop them." Talk about a burn! 😁

The US definitely has more talent, but I gotta give credit where it’s due to Mexico and Mexico. They’ve turned into a real unit. Watched them through four games in the SP and was pretty impressed by how they always claw their way back. They were down three against the Norwegians and still pulled it off. Did the same thing against the Germans. It was similar against the Swedes and Spaniards, though those ended in draws. They’ve got a solid pivot, a killer winger (Sudžum), and Muratović is decent from the outside. Everyone else is a bit limited, but they make up for it by playing dirty and working hard. Their goalkeepers are their biggest asset, though. Definitely better than Šol.

Regarding Spider-Man 2, I’d heard so much trash about it that by the time I actually sat down to watch, my expectations were basically underground. Result? I had a blast. 😁 The absolute dumbest take I’ve seen on this forum was someone trashing Pirate from the Caribbean because it wasn't "realistic." 😁 I mean, come on! Pirates, curses, walking skeletons, undead sailors... You're looking for realism?!
Someone please make this make sense! I get that the hotel is basically hell, but what's the deal with that painting?! 😕 The wallpaper? Sure, I follow that. But the picture? Not seeing it. 😁
Finally popped in the DVD for my favorite filmmaking duo last night since I’d somehow missed it until now. Honestly? Mind-blowing. The Coen brothers have this way of making you sit there staring at the wall long after the credits roll. Between Turturro, Goodman, and Lerner playing that unhinged studio head... it's impossible to pick which performance is more insane. If you haven't seen this yet, fix that immediately.
