Best Movie + Soundtrack Combos: Top 5
in Movies ·
There are so many incredible films with truly magnificent soundtracks. To avoid getting too wordy, I'll just say—Doctor Zhivago, and almost every scene featuring Larina's song.

When a moderator tells you to stay on topic, it’s a polite way of saying you've drifted too far afield—discussing things that have absolutely nothing to do with the original thread. They’re suggesting you stick to the subject at hand, mainly because if things get too unruly, the moderator might have to start handing out penalties for off-topic posts (10 points).
Much obliged for the prompt response.👍

Could someone please clarify something for me? If I happen to get banned from a specific sub-forum or off-topic section, does that automatically result in a site-wide ban? Also, what is the actual implication when a moderator suggests moving a post back on-topic?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Best car chases of all time?
in Movies ·
I’ve always had a particular fondness for the car chase in Bullitt, though I must admit the sequences in Duel with Denis Vivier and, of course, Mad Max are equally superb.
Psycho vs The Shining

A difficult choice, really. However, I find myself leaning toward The Exorcist. It is a film that leaves a profound and lasting impression on any true cinephile, particularly those of us with a penchant for horror. A masterpiece of its genre, and quite frankly, of cinema at large.
Breaking the Waves

It’s rare for someone to actually call out a masterpiece, but Breaking the Waves truly is one. In my book, it stands as one of the finest films of the last twenty years or so. Emily Watson is nothing short of masterful 👍

Armin's work is easily the best film to come out of the North America in the last two decades.
I find myself wondering if you truly grasp the weight of that claim. I am not suggesting the film is poor, but there are certainly superior works out there, particularly from Canada.
Best movies from 2008?
in Movies ·
The 2008 Oscars? I won't say I'm disappointed, primarily because my expectations were already subterranean. I didn't sit through every single nominee, but one certainly doesn't need to watch them all to recognize a decline. Ah, the good old days of cinema. For years now, we've seen nothing but rare exceptions; everything else seems to be trending from mediocre toward the bottom of the barrel.

That first one starring Gregory Peck is simply unbeatable.

I'm not sure if you can even find it in our local video stores, but a guy I was talking to mentioned:
"The Omen? Huh? Is it something like Superman, or maybe that Hymn cartoon?"🙄
I actually didn't get a chance to see it until I was over in Germany.
😲 That employee isn't even qualified to collect parking fees. Good grief... has that man ever actually listened to a single word in his life?!

It’s rare that I find a comedy truly worth my time, but this is one of them (part 1)
Your Top 5 Stoner Movies :)

Right now, I can only conjure up three films that actually resonate with me featuring smoking scenes:
Midnight Cowboy, Easy Rider, and The Hair
My apologies if this is off-topic; I simply can't recall any Oliver Stone titles at the moment.
