The movie isn't actually all that bad. Even though most people seem to have an issue with the script, there are some really well-executed scenes in there.

Mark Ortiz8 said:briskbison41: I know all about that process and I don't mind doing the work, it's just that I want to watch movies on my TV. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, and staring at a computer monitor for hours is a real strain. Plus, my old reliable Sony player doesn't support DivX files. So, I convert those DivX movies into DVDs. I realize it sounds a bit silly, but there's actually a plus side: I can make these "messy" DVDs as gifts for friends who don't have DivX capability. They always appreciate them. Anyway, when I open the movie folder, I see the movie file and an SRT file. How do I embed that SRT file directly into the avi file?

Ah, okay, that changes things.
Since you don't have a DivX-capable player for your TV, you should know that you can pick up a super cheap DVD player nowadays that supports DivX for maybe $20—maybe even less if you hit a garage sale.

As for hardcoding subtitles into an avi file, I honestly wouldn't know; I've never actually messed around with that myself.

silvergardener93 said:Also, DivX players usually read subtitles just fine, even if the filename doesn't perfectly match the avi file.

Not always.

You can find those little Nescafe packets at a local Walgreens.
The catch is you can't just grab a single packet; you have to buy the whole box of Nescafe. So, getting both together will run you about 50-$23 I guess.

Why wouldn't you just keep those subtitle files (.srt) right in the same folder as the movies? It’s simple: just make sure the movie file and the .srt file have identical names. Drop both into a single folder for each specific film, and you're set.
Then you can watch them normally, whether you're sitting at your PC or using a DVD player (provided it supports DivX).
What are VOB and DVD Data Folder files for? in Software ·
I'm not 100% certain here, but I suspect you'll run into an error during the burning process, especially since most retail discs are Dual Layer DVD9s.
It’s always a solid move to strip the protection using Handbrake; it’s super easy to use and actually packs a few extra interesting features under the hood.
Once you rip an original DVD onto your computer, you can really only watch it there because it won't play back once you try to burn it (though I'm not entirely sure how things handle if the originals are just standard DVD5s at 4.37 GB)

By the way, if you've already burned something to a disc and it works fine on a DVD player or whatever else you've tested, then you should be able to just copy and paste it over to your PC without any issues.

Yeah, 0.99 GB per file is pretty standard when you're downloading stuff onto a hard drive. How much total space is that whole DVD taking up on your drive right now? I'm guessing the DVDs you've been ripping don't have any kind of copy protection on them, right?
You can actually "shrink" those files using Nero (Nero 7 or anything newer) by using the Handbrake option. It’ll take a massive DVD—maybe 7 or 8 GB if it's a Dual Layer disc—and squeeze it down to the standard 4.37 GB size, which is what fits on a regular DVD5.

If you'd rather not mess with that, you can just find a bunch of free software for this on Google... LINK.

How big are those DVDs?
Try downloading it to your computer using Handbrake. Once you've got it downloaded, open up WinZip or something more recent, and look for the option to Handbrake. From there, you can use the built-in browser to find the movie file on your hard drive (either the one you just ripped with the Riplock tool or any other file you already have saved). You’ll be able to tweak the video quality and resolution, decide whether to keep or ditch the subtitles, and even strip out the main menu if the DVD has one.
The whole process—from ripping it to finishing the download with the Riplock tool—takes about 75 minutes.

There’s actually another way to go about it... If you see a DVD Data Folder, you should also see an Audio Data Folder sitting right there. You can just drag both of those folders into WinZip and select the option to burn a DVD.

Anthony Smith3 said:I don't know, man... personally, this looks like every other modern "horror" flick out there. Plus, I'm really not feeling the new Freddy look. They cast an amazing actor for the part, but then they totally botched it with some "generic" mask. It doesn't capture anything about the original Freddy's vibe...🤷

I'm with you there. The old Freddy had a way better mask than this version.
To me, he looks like some extra from a Star Trek episode.
It’s wild to think that over twenty years ago, they actually knew how to design better masks than what we're seeing today.

The casting is fine, though.

Nah... honestly, the ones doing the insulting here are mostly the newbies or just people who have nothing better to do with their lives, so they decide to take it out virtually.

lol, you can try 😁

Thanks so much!

Not sure if they're in stock locally, but they're honestly some of the cleanest Nikes I've seen in a while.
Yeah, best of luck to you 😁
swiftmaker20 said:So this guy says he’s holding them, but none of them are actually Shellys. I guess. 😁

Heh, I don't really mess around with those kinds of coins much, so it's hard for me to say. 😁
Maybe try checking at an Import Center, City Center (or Avenue Mall, whatever), or something like that. 🙂

It's a fantastic comedy, though let's be honest—any movie featuring Amy Smart is bound to be a hit.😁
swiftmaker20 said:As long as they have them, I can always make the drive to the city. Thanks!

EDIT: It was Nada Sport... 😉

EDIT 2: They don't carry Shellys.😢 😢

So, yeah. Still looking for those Shellys Rangers boots.

Yeah, I missed the 'R'.
Did you check both leather shops? I checked over in Indianapolis too.
swiftmaker20 said:Does anyone know if there's anywhere in the States where I can pick up some Shellys Rangers boots? Looking for the men's version, maybe size 10 or 14.

Depends on where you’re located.
For instance, if you're in a major hub like Chicago, you could check out a specialized outfit like Bass Pro Shops. They carry everything: hunting gear, fishing tackle, firearms, ammo, crossbows, bows, and high-end brands like Beretta, Browning, Stoeger, or Sabatella.
Those boots should be in stock there.

By the way, you'd find an identical setup if you were out near a suburb like Naperville or somewhere along the main highway interchanges.
I think they're around there.

Yeah, you can usually figure out why someone got an Infraction by reading their threads, but you won't find those details listed on their profile.
