Anyone know where I can grab a novelty hammer that actually makes a glass-shattering sound when you hit something? Looking to pick one up somewhere around Chicago or maybe Springfield.
Screw the stand down to make things easier on yourself. Honestly, the rest of it is just a pain in the neck—trying to pry that housing apart right where the silver and black parts meet. Grab a small screwdriver first, then move up to a slightly bigger one. Just try feeling your way through it by hand first so you can pinpoint exactly where those clips are hiding, then just press 'em in.
Notice how they list things like 80 or 92? That’s actually the distance between the CENTERS of adjacent holes. They always use that specific measurement when talking about fan size, never the spacing between opposite holes, the rotor diameter, or the overall fan dimensions. And that 100mm diagonal? It ends up being some weird non-standard size of about 70mm. Standard should be 74mm, though I've honestly never seen that on a case before. Those 74mm fans are most famous for being used on Intel box coolers for Athlon64 builds, from the early days all the way to the latest versions.
Look, tractors aren't exactly foolproof machines. You actually need a person behind the wheel who knows what they're doing—knowing which pedal does what, how to handle the transmission, all that stuff. God forbid you hook up an implement where the controls are more complicated than just simple up/down hydraulics; some people would struggle even with that. If there's no cab, it's pretty risky. If there is one, it feels kind of sterile. A roll bar paired with some light wire mesh would be my go-to setup.
wiredmarlin5, why would 80+ be the baseline? Based on what? You can't even put a non-80+ PSU in a recommended list these days, right? Why? What was wrong with a single U01 back when they were actually stocked at Links, specifically for the $50 330W models? I mean, if we were having this debate a month ago, would this have even made the cut for recommended power supplies in the $67 class?
Everything should stay pretty chill. Right now, I've got this exact same setup in a massive mid-tower case with just two fans—one in the PSU and one in the front, 120mm@5V—and temps are looking solid.
The distance for the 120mm intake fan is kind of up in the air, right? I could basically slap it right next to the CPU cooler. Personally, I think keeping it closer to the cooler might be better since those fins are pretty dense, so it needs that extra pressure to really move the air through. Currently, I've got it at about 2-3cm. As for the drives, they're sitting on rubber mounts (three flexible points!)—I came up with a design that doesn't mess with the airflow at all but keeps things super stable. This sketch is drawn to scale.
Man, I really want to set this thing up horizontally to save some space. Thinking about squeezing another shelf under the PC setup. I'll get a sketch ready tomorrow night—super busy right now 😢
I’ve got this cutout in my desk where I want to tuck the PC away—it’s about 55cm deep and 36cm wide. Since it’s built into the desk, I can only get airflow and access the IO from the back. The motherboard is mATX and pretty shallow at just 19cm. I was thinking of running a plug right above the IO panel through the passive CPU cooler (CM TX3), then mounting the drives (WD 6400 AAKS and a 1.5TB Green) directly behind it... though that might lead to some overheating issues. For the PSU, I’d put the 120mm fan along the bottom edge to help pull air across the Accelero S1 on the GPU.
Anyone know a more efficient way—like, cheaper ways using roughly the same number of fans—to set up the airflow without needing massive dimensions?
Maybe I could squeeze a 92mm fan between the drives and the cooler? Or even mount a 120mm fan on some spacers so it sits right next to the CPU cooler...

I got something to say. Don't even think about using a jigsaw—use a rotary tool or a Dremel instead. Yeah, I know that Corsair metal is thick, but a jigsaw vibrates way too much. You're just gonna end up wrecking the whole thing...
So, I accidentally went off on one of the ladies on here, and man, I got hit with a warning immediately for messing up. My ban was lifted right away, though.
Which AMD card can actually hold its own against a 2600XT GDDR4? I'm mainly looking for something that won't hog all my power or take up too much space in the case. Also, any word on when we might see some low-end 5xxx cards hitting the shelves?
On this PDF, you’ve got certain people who constantly derail serious discussions with their sheer stupidity—it’s either some misplaced loyalty to a model designed 25 years ago or just a total lack of basic physics knowledge. Not to mention, there are clones floating around who haven't even been banned yet, even though there's plenty of reason to do it. Honestly, I think we should be dealing with them first, and maybe without sending a ton of private messages as warnings? (I don't really know how the moderator handles things, so I guess that's one way he does it). Dealing with them would actually improve the quality and seriousness of this PDF way more than just deleting every single chat or nitpicking ten off-topic posts during an automobile guessing game.

Man, you wouldn't even ban him if you actually wanted to. 😁 Besides, let's be real—you don't have the spine or the actual willpower to stay away from this place forever.
