Attention, everyone!!!!! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I mean, obviously we get paid. Moderating—especially those high-traffic subforums—takes up a massive amount of time, plus there's the cost of data usage... and I’ve personally had to shell out over $33 for internet cafe fees just to stay connected this year. Being a moderator can be such a grind sometimes, so you'd think we could catch a break without everyone breathing down our necks... People don't really talk about it much, though. Most folks know we get a paycheck, but they have no clue what the actual amount is.

Wait, why is that even an issue here? Well, apparently someone, for reasons known only to God, messed up the permissions on that specific subforum... at least, that's what the people who were actually online back then are saying.

P.S. Anyone can look, but hardly anyone notices 😉

You can also just try ipconfig /renew.

Here’s a textbook example of a total troll:

Or at least, that’s what my buddy Google says.

It turned out great. Not like when some people just slap on too much paint and end up with this muddy, tacky mess that looks like it’s still wet. 👍

When I’m just cruising through town or driving around the outskirts, I don't carry much. If I'm heading out on a trip, though? I pack half the gear Jeffrey Hall5 posted photos of—a tire lever, two pry bars, a whole lot of faith in a merciful God, and the slim hope that there's a tire shop nearby before I finally pick up a small pump to mount on my frame. Might even end up stripping the chain.

Man, I could probably lug around a 14-inch fork for my pedals and stuff, but honestly? Seems like a waste of energy. Why carry all that extra weight when those parts aren't exactly going to snap that easily anyway? Still, a pump is a non-negotiable. I am definitely not looking to repeat that nightmare from this past summer—getting stuck right in the middle of nowhere in California with both my tubeless tires shredded into Swiss cheese, and the nearest tire shop was at least a two-hour hike away. But hey, I'll save the full story for the travel reports... 😁

Man, you won't even be able to see through the window because the power supply is sitting right over the motherboard, blocking the whole view. I know because I've got a case with the exact same side panel.

I'm all for it. Honestly, we should just add "[Resolved]" right to the title. Also, maybe it wouldn't hurt to stop being so soft on deleting those threads that break the rules? We've got a massive pile of posts titled stuff like "OMG HELP ME!!!!!" with zero description of the actual issue or the PC specs. It's a total mess.

Why do I keep thinking it’s supposed to be a 3mm $25 square? 🤔 Honestly, I have no clue, it’s been forever since I did any PC Modding.

You can grab tools, screws, and profiles over at Home Depot—might even find some Lexan there instead of standard plexiglass. There’s also a solid selection of hardware at that construction shop near the downtown intersection. If you need plexiglass by the foot, hit up a local paint supply shop near the city center. Honestly, cutting plexi is a breeze with a sharp screwdriver (my go-to move for 3-4mm stuff) or just a hacksaw. I actually prefer doing it by hand so the plastic doesn't melt while I'm sawing through it. As for aluminum blocks? No clue, maybe check one of those scrap metal recycling centers? I think there's one near the highway. Rubber? Hard to say, maybe the paint shop has it too. Or maybe try a big industrial supplier like Grainger or something similar out in Cleveland.

For anything electronics-related, you can head to Micro Center (it's right by the Kroger, near where Heinzel meets Vukovar), or check out the Electronic Center on Tratinska, about halfway between the Lakers arena and the Badaliceva tram stop.

Any tips on which paint colors to grab? You know, stuff that won't smudge or peel off easily

Thinking about going with black and maybe adding a blue flame graphic or something similar, plus a few blue fans 😉

Pantone. Check out the Reddit thread over on XDA Developers.

I was thinking about making new side panels from scratch, maybe using a hammer to shape them and cutting a square hole right in the middle.

Making panels from scratch is a massive headache, honestly. Just stick to modifying what you already have. And whatever you do, don't use a hammer to cut holes—you'll just dent the whole thing and nothing will line up. Use a Dremel or an angle grinder instead.

can you actually buy replacement front bezels for cases????

Never seen that happen before.
Dealing with headwinds while cycling! in Cycling ·
Kate Roberts10 said:Man, the wind is absolutely howling out there. I'm stuck at work in Washington, D.C. right now, and I've got my bike with me. I have to head back home to San Jose around 8:00, and honestly? I’m dreading it. Instead of my usual 50-minute ride, this wind is definitely gonna push me well over an hour. Just great.👎

Nah, you're good. You basically have the wind at your back. 😁

I’ve pretty much mastered the art of dealing with the wind—as long as I stay focused on when those gusts are actually gonna hit. Honestly, most of the time I just tuck in behind a bus to catch a bit of a break.

Oh, by the way:

Honestly, dealing with LEDs and resistors is such a headache. I really don't have the energy to dig through a physics textbook right now. 😬

Best way to do LEDs is in parallel, giving each one its own resistor.

Say you grab 5V, and if an LED pulls 10mA while running at 1.2V, then you just use R=V/I where V=5-1.2 and I=10mA.

Edward Peterson70 said:Anyone got a link to a tutorial on how to mod some led-ica into an optical drive?

Man, I've seen people pull that off with PC Modding before. You thinking about lighting up the drive from the inside?

Basically, you'd have to cut out the cover to fit some thin plexiglass—gotta be thin, obviously—but make sure you leave that center piece intact so the disc still seats right when you slide it in. Just use some tiny led-ica and tuck them in so they don't get in the way...

I'll try to post a pic sometime...

It’s all about preference, right? Personally, I’d take a beat-up Powerhouse that lasts ten years over some flashy Heatwave that dies in six months. 😁

Any good Winamp alternatives? in Software ·
Laura Garcia42 said:I’ve been using Winamp to transcribe my recordings lately. Honestly, it’s the only thing that lets me skip back and forth just enough to actually catch what people are saying. It works perfectly for me.

Audio cleaning? Yeah, that’s definitely not my strong suit. I’ve tried messing around with SoundForge, but honestly, I’m just not feeling it. Trying to scrub out background noise or boost voices... it’s just not clicking for me. I keep trying and trying, but I'm basically just hitting a wall here. What else can I even try besides begging for help?

Most other players don't let me jump back just a couple seconds... anyone know a better option? Ideally something that actually sounds punchier than Winamp. Any recs?

Honestly, I’d just go with Audacity. It’s a solid little audio editor—super easy to navigate through your tracks. You can grab any specific part of a recording and tell it to play just that selection, which is huge. Plus, it’s loaded with different tone filters and stuff. Really handy tool.
