Adam Collins4 said:Of course, the defense falls squarely on the coach's shoulders; I didn't actually sit through the game, so I can't really weigh in on how any specific player performed out there on the field...

Look, if you let things slide down to negative ten, you’re basically watching the entire system collapse right before your eyes in a single, disastrous heartbeat.

All you can really do at this point is call up the big shots and try to salvage whatever's left of this mess before everything goes completely south...

Look, if you’ve got a solid squad on your hands, letting a lead slip by ten points shouldn't even be on the table, really—not unless you're staring down some absolute juggernaut of a team, and honestly, even then, you should be able to hold the line. I mean, look back at what those Danes did to us during the group stage; that only happened because they were playing out of their minds and were just on another level at that moment. The real breakdown, though, was definitely in the mental prep leading up to those games against the Canadians and the Czechs.
I’d take my chances with the Poles any day... honestly, I think we can actually hold our own against them, and I feel like we have a much better shot at beating them than we do against those Frenchmen, where you basically have to play a perfect game just to stand a chance when they're actually having an on day... but with us, they seemed to be good even when we were playing them, damn it 🤷 besides, we don't exactly walk around with a massive inferiority complex when it comes to the Poles, but when it comes to the French... hmmm...
Adam Collins4 said:Come on, there’s actually some truth to what frozentiger6 is saying here...

Just look back at how Doug was hyping things up last year, and he’s doing the exact same thing again this season...

Even before this 2010 season kicked off, people were insisting the game wouldn't depend on Balić because we had Duvnjak to lean on...

And now, Lino is basically dropping hints that Doug is just a placeholder for the HSV roster...

They're just spinning the narrative however it suits them at the moment...

Perry isn't performing well today, but hey, watch him show up again next year—I’d probably bet money on it, honestly, just based on how much they constantly flip-flop their stories...

I don't even see how any of this is relevant anymore...

I'm not one of those people who constantly praises Lino; I think his time has passed and it might be best if he moved on. I'm grateful for everything he's done, but that's really where it ends for me.

Sure, they have a few irreplaceable players, I'll give them that. The Canadians lack depth—they've got a solid starting six and nothing else to speak of. But then again, how much depth does any national team really have? Most of them struggle with that exact same issue.
frozentiger6 said:I mean, I honestly have no clue what he actually screwed up here,

I'm guessing you're still pretty young... you'll learn 😉
Adam Collins4 said:It’s like facing off against Igropulo, Starykh, or even Onufryienko...

Honestly, I’m right there with you on that one.
Sean Gonzalez95 said:you guys are honestly pathetic... you've managed to completely derail every single topic just by arguing over whose fault it is. 🙄and if you actually had any sense of a real debate, instead of just mocking Noka—who is clearly a top-tier expert—rather than pointing out something actually relevant, like how we're sitting at -8, basically a tie before the final whistle when everything is already decided, while the refs are busy overcompensating for the Janes...
it's just sad..

for God's sake, you aren't even reading anything 😠

I'm not mocking Noka, I'm commenting on (and criticizing) his performance tonight. What I'm actually mocking are the people who were treating him like some kind of deity
frozentiger6 said:If we’re actually going to judge Serdarusicev’s tactical IQ, we really ought to look at what he pulled off over in Germany, and honestly, we should probably just sit tight for a bit to see what kind of magic he works with the Cleveland squad.

Look, being a national team coach and running a club team are two entirely different beasts. If anything, the grind of a club job is way more demanding, but being a top-tier tactical genius doesn't automatically mean you'll crush it on the bench for a national side. I never once suggested that Noka isn't a stellar coach—he’s a good one, plain and simple.

I just said he completely blew it against the Czechs. Did he screw up? Absolutely. Now, I didn't catch the actual game, so I can't pinpoint exactly where the wheels fell off, but maybe it was all in the mental prep. It’s entirely possible the Canadians just weren't psychologically braced for the Czechs to play that well, and once they fell behind by a few goals, the whole thing just spiraled out of control.
rapidbison42 said:The Czech Republic has two absolute superstars who could probably take down a team like Canada without breaking a sweat.
Philip and Jicha were basically just playing games with them. Especially Philip.

Look, I know how this goes, and honestly, neither Jicha (who I absolutely adore, he's in a league of his own) nor Philip were even remotely playing at their level yesterday; I remember when they played us, and those guys aren't bad by any means—they actually gave us a hell of a run once because they know how to set up a really solid defense. But let's be real, handball is a team sport, and a roster isn't just some math equation where you add up individual talent, which is exactly why the Austrians managed to pull through to the next round, because even a mediocre national team can play great handball if they work together. That’s the coach's entire job, to turn a bunch of individual players into a cohesive unit, and frankly, it's much easier to shut down a couple of star players when you just focus on them, and looking at the stats, it seems like Jicha was just wandering around out there... you just can't win like that.
frozentiger6 said:Look, let’s not get bogged down in the whole "the coach sets the system and the players just execute" debate right now.

It really comes down to whether you have someone like Balica on the floor or someone like Sebastian Skube.

Once you see that, you'll realize which kind of coach actually holds the upper hand.

Personally, I couldn't care less about Serdarusica; I don't like him, he isn't my cup of tea, and honestly, I like him just about as much as I like Cervar—which is to say, slightly more than nothing—but compared to Cervar, he's just an academic.

The Canadian people have a solid national team, they aren't some bunch of amateurs, and talent-wise, they're actually stronger than the Czech people. So why didn't they pull it off? And look, I'm not comparing Noka to Červar, nor do I even like Červar, because that's not what we're talking about here. It's just that when Canada played well, everyone credited it to Noka, but now that they've played miserably, suddenly it's all the players' fault? Give me a break.

There is absolutely no logic to it.
frozentiger6 said:Well, you can stop laughing now; the guy actually spoke sense for once.

Besides, neither person nor person are even on the court right now—it’s just some guys who look more like handball players than anything else. It isn't the coach's fault if his players can't sink an easy layup or whatever, and it's certainly not his credit if he happens to have one absolute genius on the roster without whom they wouldn't even make it past the first quarter.

Oh, so according to this logic, the coach bears zero responsibility for the outcome, right? I mean, what's the point of having national team head coaches at all then? 😉They just show up with a bunch of finished products and expect them to perform, is that the deal?

🙂The defense is on the coach, and honestly, the offense falls partially on him too. That Canadian defense was leaking points everywhere, and that's something that weighs on person's soul just as much as it does the players'.
I mean, you really have to give it to the Canadians, they managed to swing a -10 to -3 deficit in just 11 minutes 🙏

Forgive my poor grammar—but this might be the smartest thing anyone has said in this thread. 😂

Honestly, I can’t even say I’m surprised by a comment like that...

Look, I've laid out my questions for you, so please, for once, do me the favor and actually bother to answer them.

steelskipper5 said:Yeah, obviously. So what, I'm in the middle of a heated debate with one moderator on a thread, everything's going fine, and then suddenly Noah Myers8 swoops in and hands me a strike? Makes total sense.

You're really trying to lecture me here... ☕

that's a whole different ballgame 😉
Anonymous said:if they don't turn things around right now, they're never going to 🙄

how exactly do you stage a comeback when you're starting from ten feet under?
rapidbison42 said:There's only one way this plays out: the Czechs have to take the fall.

bwahaha 🤣 😂

😂

👍

anyway, let's see what happens tomorrow... the whole scenario where expensive-Nora-now-has-to-fall apart. 😂
rapidbison42 said:20-29

It’s over. Noka is out. I guess high-stakes handball just isn't your thing. 🤣

What do you know about handball? One minute they're riding high on a winning streak... and the next, they've completely fallen off the rails... 🤣
rapidbison42 said:19-25

it ain't over yet

honestly, if the Czechs blow a nine-goal lead, they might as well just pack it up and head home🙂 because that would be an absolute circus...
Sean Gonzalez95 said:I didn't catch them playing today... my connection is being absolutely abysmal right now😠... I was just saying they played like they were stuck in tournament mode

Sorry, it's not even worth getting worked up over 😉 I'm not watching the game either, but honestly, the score tells you everything you need to know—you don't even have to tune in to see how bad it is🤷
Sean Gonzalez95 said:Someone made a really solid point earlier, and they hit the nail right on the head... sure, the play looks pretty and it's entertaining to watch, but even Noka doesn't have players like that over in Canada, and besides, you just can't play a tournament like this—this is a major European championship, after all.

Giving up 21 goals by halftime actually tells you everything you need to know. When people start obsessing over how "beautiful" the game is, they’re always talking about the offense, but that has absolutely nothing to do with whether the actual performance was good or not. It honestly feels like Noka completely botched the pre-game prep.😁

rapidbison42 said:Neither one.

Scoring 12 isn't exactly a disaster, but letting in 21? That's a total mess.
Ashley Carter95 said:The Czechs absolutely tore them apart in the first half, finishing up 21:12.

Do the Canadians even bother with defense, or are they just strictly an offensive team? 😲😁🤣
