Moon, truth be told. People have this mental image of pregnant women being high-maintenance, but I was never that type. The only stereotype I actually fit was that I couldn't stomach coffee during my first trimester. That was it. I didn't have any "special requirements." I wasn't out there eating pickles with ice cream or chocolate with pâté—just typical nonsense—even though people constantly hinted that I might. Honestly, I just felt bad disappointing them. 🤣
Yes, everyone would love to visit. I'll pass. I can't manage it; I'm exhausted.
And then there is the nighttime bathroom trips. Every time I turn over in bed, I have to go—seven or eight times. It is always an emergency; the pressure is intense. Then I get there, and only a few drops come out. 🤦 If I don't go when the urge hits, I won't be able to go at all. Tell me if you agree.🙏
Nicholas Carter6 said:That’s exactly why I haven't told anyone the actual date except for my inner circle. They know the general timeframe... but honestly? I can't risk it. If word got out, people would be suffocating me with "congrats" and endless questions before I'm even ready!
If I ever find myself pregnant again, I will simply tell them the date is two weeks later than it actually is. Currently, only my husband, my mother, my brother, and his family know the actual date. My husband's side of the family is incredibly laid back, yet they still check in every single week to ask about the due date and if anything has changed.
Are you constantly being interrogated about when you're due?😁 My family calls incessantly, and even the neighbors are asking when I plan to deliver. I have 25 days left. At this rate, I'll be ignoring my phone and avoiding the neighbors entirely.😵
I must admit, I have never once been cut in line. In fact, if anyone noticed me struggling toward the checkout, they would likely hasten their pace to make room. One individual even ran to get out of my way.🤣 I suspect I am the only one who consistently fails to yield to pregnant women ahead of me. Even when I was five months pregnant myself, my bump was virtually undetectable, which led me to overlook a pregnant woman with a child directly in front of me.
I am absolutely thrilled to be having a boy, and frankly, I find it quite irritating how much more joyful that makes me feel compared to those who disagree. 😁 What does anyone else care what my husband and I end up with? This is our child. And then there is the endless stream of advice on how to dress him and handle him... One person says he needs to go this way, another says that way, or this or that. My mother last changed a baby boy forty years ago, yet she acts like an expert on everything. I suppose some of it might be useful, but the nurses at the hospital and the home health aides will show me the ropes.
It was quite surprising to see how visibly uncomfortable everyone seems about the fact that we are expecting a boy. We aren't even hiding it. Both families have reacted this way. My mother-in-law didn't bother masking her disappointment, while my own mother remained indifferent, knowing I felt the same way. With four girls in our family, I might have understood some disappointment if it were all boys, but this is different... It is truly baffling. To make matters worse, my husband’s aunt—who doesn't have children herself, by the way—keeps lecturing him about waiting for a boy. She makes these crude jokes about how only "real men" can produce a son and such nonsense. We went through IVF. This wasn't a matter of traditional conception, though she clearly fails to grasp that.
Then there are the unsolicited marriage and relationship tips following the baby's arrival. These come from women who have barely been married for two months before having a child. I have been with my husband for fifteen years and we are in our eighth year of marriage. I believe we have already mastered the complexities of our relationship.
Some relatives of my husband call me fat. I am not fat at all. They say it because they lack wit; they simply speak to hear themselves talk, likely attempting humor. I find no amusement in it. It is not entertaining, particularly when I am already struggling to feel comfortable in my own skin regardless of my size. I am pregnant. My hormones are fluctuating and I barely recognize my own body, yet they think telling me I am fat is helpful. As if that would cheer me up.
In the past, I didn't mind when people touched my stomach; I let them enjoy themselves. However, those touches now frequently trigger contractions. I ask them to stop, yet they act as if it's a mystery.🤣 -I'm just doing it out of affection. -Oh, I just adore pregnant women. -Everything will be fine. -Is it kicking? Is it moving? -Look how big she's gotten. 😵
People seem to have an opinion on my baby bump; it’s either too large or too small for their liking. Early on, I dealt with nausea, and now that I'm entering my eighth month, my mother-in-law still insists on asking about my appetite every single day.😵 When standing in crowds or waiting in line, people simply look past me. Everyone feels entitled to offer parenting advice or dictate what I should and shouldn't be doing during this pregnancy. Then there is the constant stream of people trying to offload their old clothes and hand-me-downs on me, as if I can't afford my own things. Some of these items—like little dresses—are fifteen years old.
The idea that pills trigger hunger is purely subjective. It’s mostly a matter of self-control. I personally have a massive appetite, yet I maintain discipline.
I discussed this with my OB-GYN a couple of weeks ago. He noted that women frequently complain about weight gain. Most of it is water retention—maybe two pounds. Anything beyond that is just overeating, followed by blaming the medication.
Taylor Garcia30 said:Apparently, his fee is $700, while the female doctor charges $560 for the exact same thing. Beyond the fact that Dr. unknown is a major specialist, what is he actually like during an exam? Specifically regarding a Pap smear? There are huge discrepancies between doctors, and since this is my least favorite procedure, I need the best.
He is excellent. He is gentler than any gynecologist I have seen. He is very approachable; you can ask him anything. The exam isn't more unpleasant than any other similar procedure. It isn't pleasant, nor is it painless, but he works quickly, so the discomfort is brief.
I was actually there myself, though I can't offer an opinion on that specific doctor since I wasn't her patient. I saw unknown, as he has been my private gynecologist for years. He used to practice at Dr. Bates' office, but he moved over to that clinic his wife opened with a partner.
The facility is excellent and they have their systems down, despite only opening late last year.
As for the exam, Pap smear, and ultrasound, I paid $233.
I am looking for some insight regarding these lab results.
It concerns my husband, age 32. A month ago, he saw his doctor for a sore throat. He was prescribed two different courses of antibiotics; the most recent one was a three-dose regimen, though I don't believe it was Sumamed. While the throat pain has subsided, he is still dealing with coughing fits and producing thick white mucus. Following his third visit, the physician ordered blood work, a urinalysis, a chest X-ray, and swabs for the throat and nose. We have only received the blood panel so far. I would appreciate your thoughts.
His enzyme levels are elevated: ALT 51 (ref: 12-48) GGt 69 (ref: 11-55)
Regarding electrolytes, he is low: Sodium 136 (ref: 137-146)
Additionally, his triglycerides are high at 2.3 (should be under 1.7). 😉 Thank you in advance for your input.
Since my doctor wasn't in this afternoon when I received my results, I won't see her until tomorrow. I will have the full details then, though I expect everything is fine. 🙂
I must admit, I haven't been neglecting my nutrition. I maintain a balanced diet, avoid overeating, and ensure variety in my food choices. Everything is consumed, though strictly in moderation. There is no history of diabetes in my family.
In fact, the evening before my blood work, I ate far too much cabbage stuffing; it was quite uncomfortable.🤦 I had nothing this morning. My blood was drawn at 7:00 AM, so while I was hungry, eating would have been premature.
However, my blood sugar levels came back low, yet the glucose in my urine was high. The implications of this are unclear to me. Is diabetes characterized by elevated or low blood sugar?
Coagulation panel INR - 1.00 (target range 2.0-3.5) I have been on oral contraceptives for several years. Could this be related?🤷 Liver enzymes are within normal limits. AST-18, alt-24, GGT-30
