Training in Thailand? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·

There’s actually a whole bunch of articles about the gym on there, too. If you really want to dig into it, just try searching through the site.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Has anyone here actually messed around with BSN’s Syntha-6 protein? I’m not really looking for just straight whey; I prefer a blend. I’ve used MuscleTech from Gaspari Nutrition before and honestly, I was pretty stoked with the results. So now I'm just wondering... what's the deal with Syntha-6? Just looking to switch things up for a bit.
Training Day (2010) in Movies ·
Great movie. I honestly didn't think the sequel could hold a candle to the first one, but it actually managed to outdo it. Seriously impressive.

It wasn't because of an injury he was fighting against.

There’s stuff available online, though I’m not really sure about what they keep in stock at the local shops... You can find protectors over at Pride, but I don't think they carry this specific model.

Steven Kim3 said:If you’re actually planning on stepping into the ring for competitions, you better be prepared to train consistently for at least two years, because if you don't, you're just going to get absolutely wrecked.

Look, I know people who have trained for five years and still end up getting crushed, and then there are people who only put in a year and walk away having schooled most of the crew...

It all comes down to the individual. If your conditioning is solid and your headspace is right, you can pretty much make up for a lot of technical gaps.

Chris Taylor2 said:Look, I’m totally fine with people debating the specifics, but the real issue isn't even about that—it's how everyone always seems to jump to siding with Pit Bull, no matter what. Like, if you actually caught that rematch between Tomić (Pit Bull) and Viličić (Mladost), it was clearly going to go Viličić's way, but somehow it ends up being handed right to Pit Bull on a silver platter, but whatever, man. It's just super obvious that Pit Bull is basically giving Borović a wide berth now, especially after he absolutely leveled Tomasovič in the first round. 🙂

It’s true, Radnić and his coaching staff are steering clear of Borović... Like, if Radnić is actually as elite as everyone claims—you know, Pro Champion, K1 Max Collision champ, and now supposedly the national "low kick" champ (even if Zaman clearly had the edge)—then why won't he just step into the ring with someone like Borović to prove it once and for all?
Blisters in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Scott Ortiz5 I didn't catch what was said—it looks like the message got cut off. What was the point?
Good grief, what kind of fighters are you people supposed to be if you're actually terrified of a little bit of bedsores? 😁

😁

Blisters usually just clear up on their own after a couple of training sessions... Once you're done with the first one, though, I'd head straight to a CVS or Walgreens. Grab some Micropore tape and wrap your fingers with it—just enough so you can actually walk without it being a total nightmare. There’s also that heavy-duty adhesive tape you find at any drugstore; it works great for blisters too, although personally, I mostly just use it as athletic tape rather than blister protection.

It usually takes about two or three sessions before it finally clicks...
Mirko Cro Cop vs. Fedor Emelianenko in the Dream Grand Prix? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
The only real issue with all of this is that Fedor has already denied it...

If Dream actually makes it to the new year, they'll be lucky.

What's your "why" for working out? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
I train because it’s fun, plain and simple. I love it.
Sometimes I'll head to a tournament just to see where I stand, nothing more.
I don't really have this burning need to prove anything anymore or chase specific trophies.

Quick little tangent here...
Kirian, you don't actually need a base skill set for UFC... You can pretty much start training everything from day one.

Bradley Barnes7 said:Can someone let me know if there’s an open gym schedule during the summer for recreational players? Also—any idea what the membership fees look like?

Yeah, they do, Tuesdays and Thursdays over on Stefanovich Street—it's one of those gyms, I don't recall the exact street number.
They run a really solid program, sessions usually kick off around 8:00 PM.

They also have training down at the Ravnica location, though I'm not entirely sure if they keep the recreational classes going through the summer months.

feralviper72 said:It’s not just cuts, though... they take hits to their entire bodies. Especially the head.

Well, I see you've got some pretty stellar arguments there.
I mean, people take physical damage in every single sport, truly every one. So, what's the actual point you're trying to make here?

The head? Honestly, the head takes way less damage in this than it does in boxing...

Wing Tsun, Ving Tsun, whatever else you want to call it...

honestly, all this bickering is pretty pointless. Everyone already knows that Uimg Dsum is the premier system.
It was taught by Jgwie Mnung, and it actually incorporates anti-aircraft techniques.

Robin Palmer3 said:Why does it feel like I was taking shots at you? I was just speaking in general terms and really didn't mean you personally, nor am I downplaying what you've achieved in amateur UFC, quite the opposite actually.
In Pancrase, you aren't allowed to strike the head with your hand, but you can hit the body with a knee and get points for a low kick—it’s a different version than the one you compete in... When you add up all the strikes and subtract the ones that aren't allowed, it all comes down to similar ratios of limitations...

It's for the first tournament, maybe I misunderstood... My bad.
Well, all these are good ways for young fighters to develop, experience is what matters.
The pro level comes with time, especially if someone is young and has the luxury of time.

Limitations are a good thing, they exist for protection, that's just my take.
The only thing I absolutely hate is ground fighting 😍

And I'll try Pancrase, you have to try everything. If there's Shootfighting, then I'll try that too.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from.
From what I've seen, you guys in Wing Tsun have tons of these little arguments.
KIIS FM Dojo in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
You could run this story on a prime-time news special and still not cover it all.
It’s a lot to unpack if you haven't been following along from day one.

I’m guessing I know who made that comment about how Americans can just dive in without any fear...

Look, I can tell you from experience: wearing a helmet in high-quality grappling doesn't actually protect you much from the impact.
Sure, it gives you a psychological boost, but it does the same for your opponent—now they feel safer taking bigger risks against you.
Plus, trying to take someone down becomes harder when they're wearing a helmet because your sense of distance and spatial awareness gets thrown off.
Pankration doesn't use helmets, but it comes with a million other restrictions... especially when it comes to striking.
How much of a risk is this? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
It’s just as much of a gamble if you decide to finish outside or just blow it off instead.
Honestly, staying out of fights is always the smartest move.
