Nice build. It's solid. I'd maybe swap in a slightly beefier power supply, but this setup will run just fine as is.

I remember years ago working on some ancient junk where half the hardware was missing. I just used thicker case screws instead of the standard motherboard ones and it worked just fine
You don't need to tighten them down hard. The board can sit a little loose, as long as the screws are holding it in place

Those screws conduct electricity and could easily cause a short circuit.

Hey, I have a rough idea of what I need, but I’m basically asking for help here.

I'm looking for a laptop that can actually handle games like Train Sim, Euro Truck, or Farming Simulator without choking, plus it needs decent processing power and enough storage.

Everything I've come across looks fine on paper, except the storage is almost always a measly 256GB SSD.

My budget is around $1667, maybe stretching to $67 if I have to, but that's pretty much it.

So, before I drop any cash, I gotta know: is this level of work in After Effects just some amateur hobbyist stuff, or can you actually make a living out of it?

If it’s a real career, then spending $200 might be worth it, but $350 feels like total overkill to me...

But if it's just for messing around at home, there's zero point in going that high.

There isn't even a PCIe power connector; it just draws juice straight from the slot.

I was looking at new card prices. Obviously, a GTX 750 Ti or a GTX 760 won't just display a desktop screen.
But in that budget range, they’re definitely worth it. 🥱

Cards in that price range are basically just for getting a picture on the monitor. If you're lucky, maybe find a GTX 750ti or a GTX 760, something like that...
but it really depends on what software you're running.
