To answer your question:
-Definitely Kimi
-Hamilton
-even Kubica
It’s pretty simple, really. A few things just aligned perfectly for Alonso—a whole lot of luck was involved—and he managed to tuck two titles away in his trophy cabinet.
Man, let some off-topic stuff happen! Thank God we have them, they're here for discussion. From what I can see, it might actually be one of the better ways to keep this place alive since people might finally start talking about something...
Looking at the way you laid out those points, it feels like you're judging based strictly on current form, right? Because that's how you ranked them, but if you look at how things played out over the last few years generally speaking...🤷
Sure, Alonso had plenty of luck fall his way, but don't forget the guy drove his heart out and even took down Michael Schumacher. And we're talking about a guy who people either call the greatest ever or fight about constantly—either way, he wasn't just some random dude on the grid.🤷
And don't overlook how disinterested Kimi seemed at the start of last season, or how he basically didn't know his own car during testing—which is something he straight up admitted himself.😉
The experts say Alonso was basically the only driver besides Schumacher a couple of seasons back who really obsessed over the technical mechanics of the car. Now, I'm not sure where things stand though...🤷 is any of the newer guys actually digging into the tech like that?.....
As for Kubica, the kid's a genius and a killer driver, but he's still nowhere near being in that top 3 tier. Generally speaking, he hasn't really done anything at the absolute peak level yet. He hasn't made that one big move—like what Hamilton did early on—to show he's truly standing in a league of his own.
He’s had some stellar drives,🙏 but in a direct fight this season, he hasn't shown he’s ready to go toe-to-toe with Ferrari or McLaren yet.
Maybe this sounds dumb now, but look at the last race: he finished great and was on pole, but then he just choked at the start, lost ground to the pack, and eventually got eaten up by Kimi too, leaving him stuck in third.🤷
Look, I'm not hating on the kid, but he's still miles away from being on Alonso's level.🤷
