Which email client can handle this? in IT Support ·
Kimberly Edwards7 said:Just install IncrediMail and you won't have to deal with any of this nonsense anymore...

But I already mentioned that IncrediMail absolutely refuses to accept my Hotmail account—even after I followed every single instruction to the letter!
I’ve entered all the necessary credentials for my email (whether it's Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.), yet I am constantly hit with this message: logon failed—and I am certain my username and password are correct, as I've double-checked them myself.

Well, I finally have it running—it’s sitting right there in the system tray—but now I’ve run into a different issue.
I went into the settings and made sure to enable these specific options:
When new messages arrive:
Show an alert
Show a tray icon
Play a sound

Just to test things out, I sent myself a few emails—using various different accounts—but I haven't received a single notification, whether visual or audio, to let me know mail has arrived (it's been over 10 minutes now).
To actually check my inbox, I find myself having to manually open Thunderbird and click "get messages" every single time.
If the program isn't actually notifying me automatically when new mail hits my account, then what is the point of having it running in the background at all?

gentlewalker82 said:There’s a Thunderbird plugin for that. Honestly, you can do just about anything with Thunderbird once you minimize it to the tray—it's quite the powerhouse

I went ahead and downloaded that plugin from here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...otray-revived/
I installed it directly into Thunderbird, but I'm stumped—I don't see any option under the tools menu to actually make it minimize to the system tray.

Fair enough—but could you recommend one that actually runs in the background and gives me a heads-up whenever a new email hits my inbox?

I am looking for an email client that can run seamlessly in the background—essentially, I need something that stays active constantly and provides both audible and visual notifications the moment a new email arrives.
I have experimented with several different options, but I seem to run into technical hurdles with every single one of them.
To give you some context:
DreamMail simply refuses to accept my Hotmail or Yahoo accounts; it keeps insisting that I manually configure certain POP protocols first.
OperaMail is being just as difficult, demanding those same POP settings.
The only application that actually managed to auto-configure everything without any fuss was Mozilla Thunderbird, but unfortunately, it lacks the capability to operate quietly in the background.
It brings to mind a specific, fantastic program I installed about 10 or 15 years ago—I believe it even had the word POP right in its name—which handled all the automatic configurations itself and worked perfectly in the background.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a client that would actually meet my requirements?
Issues with my YouTube creator setup? in IT Support ·
Good grief, I just cannot get this thing to function properly.
Does anyone happen to know of any alternative software that handles this similarly?

Once I wrap up my stream, nothing pops up—it just shuts down completely without offering any follow-up options.

I am not entirely certain if you are referring to the toolbar at the bottom of the screen—the one where it says perfect streaming

I actually set this up quite a while ago—and when I pull up the event page in my browser, it clearly states event started—but absolutely nothing is being displayed
You can verify what I'm seeing right here https://livestream.com/accounts/4376972/events/4199429
And just to be clear, I have currently toggled the broadcast to go live

I finally went ahead and set up an account over at https://livestream.com/.
I managed to get the "YouTube creator" software installed on my PC, and while I can see my webcam preview perfectly fine—which is a relief, honestly—I am hitting a bit of a wall. There isn’t any sign of a URL or a specific address anywhere that shows where the feed is actually being broadcast in a web browser.
I have been going absolutely out of my mind searching through the menus, just trying to find a single link or address that I could send over to my friends so they can actually tune in to the stream.
Does anyone happen to know what my next move should be?
How do I optimize my TCP settings? in IT Support ·
Alright, I just ran the test and this is what came back:
download: 4.10 mbps
upload: 0.46 mbps
How do I optimize my TCP settings? in IT Support ·
I have a laptop at my vacation home, and honestly, browsing the web on it is an absolute crawl. I recently heard that I might be able to squeeze a bit more performance out of it by using a utility called "TCP Optimizer."
I’ve already gone ahead and downloaded it, but I’m feeling a bit lost regarding the actual configuration—so if anyone here has experience with this, I would truly appreciate some guidance.
Here are my current specs:
-Windows 10 Ultimate
-Internet speed: download 4 Mbps / upload 0.512 Mbps
Mic audio bleeding through speakers?? in IT Support ·
I am not entirely sure how to articulate my specific requirements, but I will certainly attempt to do so.
Does anyone know of an application—specifically for Windows 7—that allows me to hear my own voice through external speakers in real-time when I speak into the microphone? Essentially, I am looking for something that functions much like a megaphone.
How do I activate Windows? in IT Support ·
I just finished reinstalling Windows 8.1—and I made sure to disable every single unnecessary feature right out of the gate to prevent the OS from nagging me (automatic updates, and so on)—but every once in a while, this blue screen pops up: "Go to PC settings to activate windows".
Does anyone know how I can finally shake this nuisance?
Wow, truly impressive—I have no idea how you pulled that off. I actually have Photoshop installed myself, though I suspect I might struggle to match your results if I give it a shot.
I have recently unearthed some old church records regarding my ancestors—truly fascinating stuff—and I am looking to print them out. However, there is a significant hurdle: the background behind the text is this incredibly messy, brownish discoloration. If I were to attempt a print job as is, I would likely exhaust all my ink cartridges just trying to replicate that stained background! Is there any way to clean this up digitally—perhaps using Photoshop or some other software?
Does anyone happen to have any suggestions or techniques in mind?
I am attaching a sample here so you can see exactly what I am dealing with.

1-How exactly do I generate a link for a document so I can send it over to a friend? (I've looked everywhere, but I don't see an option for it)
2-Does my friend actually need to have their own Gmail account to view it? (If they do, that’s going to be a real problem for me)
3-What’s the best way to upload a Word document that I currently have saved on my hard drive?

So, I decided to give Google Docs a shot instead—checking it out via https://docs.google.com/
And I have to say, I am genuinely impressed by the capabilities! It’s absolutely perfect for what I’m trying to accomplish.
Thanks

I just finished logging into my Gmail, and I have to admit—I am feeling a bit lost with some of these features.

1-How exactly do I generate a shareable link for a document? I want to send one over to a friend, but I can't seem to find the option anywhere in the interface.
2-Does my friend actually need to have their own Gmail account to access it? If they do, that might be a bit of a dealbreaker for me.
3-What is the best way to upload a Word document that I currently have saved locally on my hard drive?

I have a vague recollection of hearing that this kind of workflow is actually possible.
For instance—if I were to upload a document (like a .docx file) and simply send the link over to a friend, we could both jump into that same file at the exact same time to collaborate—you know, typing, editing, or deleting content simultaneously.

No worries, I won't be touching that.
I just don't quite wrap my head around how someone can openly sell such things without being held liable for inciting a crime—it simply doesn't make sense to me.
