http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...-cyst-2008.png Just throwing this image up there so you guys can get a real sense of what we're dealing with here. This isn't actually my hand, obviously, but the swelling I've got going on looks pretty much identical, just maybe a little less dramatic than this one...
So, I noticed this weird little swelling popping up near my wrist—not even sure exactly when it started, but it’s been there for a bit now. Specifically, whenever I flex my hands, like if I bend both my right and left wrists, the right one kind of... pops out? There's this distinct little ball you can feel, but nothing at all on my left hand. It doesn't hurt at all, which is weird, but it feels pretty hard to the touch. When I keep my hand straight, you can barely even see it, so I’m thinking maybe it’s just a bone or a joint shifting out of place or something... Right in front of this "lump," there's this little dip, similar to how my other wrist looks, except the gap here is way bigger, almost like something is pushing its way out from underneath... My mom mentioned she had the exact same thing happen on her right hand about 20 years ago, though hers faded down quite a bit over time. I don't remember straining my wrist or anything lately; I was hitting the weights pretty hard last year and dealt with some aches, but I haven't lifted anything heavy at all in the last 8 months... I've got an appointment scheduled with my primary care doctor tomorrow, but I was curious if any of you guys have dealt with something like this or have any ideas? I'm 20, by the way...
So, about a year ago, this weird little swelling popped up on the right side of my face. It wasn't huge or anything, just kind of red and pretty tender when I touched it. I actually had a smaller one on the left side too, but that one just cleared up on its own... unlike this guy. Over time, the redness faded and it doesn't really show up on the surface anymore, but it's still there. It doesn't hurt to touch now, but it’s super annoying because it makes my skin look uneven, and sometimes when I'm just out walking, I get this strange, uncomfortable sensation in my face... you know? You can't see it, but if you run your fingers over it, you can definitely feel it sitting right under the skin. I was wondering if there's any way to actually get rid of this thing or treat it somehow? Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hey everyone, I’ve been dealing with some pretty rough health issues lately, and to make matters worse, my doctor is... well, let's just say she's getting up there in age and honestly couldn't care less about what I'm going through. Every time I sit in her office, I get the feeling she isn't even listening to a word I say. It’s actually scary—she once sent my grandfather for the wrong tests, and he ended up suffering a stroke because of it. She just brushes me off constantly, and since I'm only 19, I feel like she takes me even less seriously... Anyway, I've officially decided it's time to find a new doctor. I'm looking for someone in the Washington, D.C. area (I'm living over in Brooklyn) who is actually sane and, more importantly, treats patients like actual human beings. I need someone who will listen, offer some comfort, and genuinely want to help. If any of you know someone or go to someone like that, please, please let me know...
Man, I’ve dropped so much weight lately, but now whenever I eat even a slightly heavy meal, I bloat up like a freaking balloon... it’s wild. I can literally see the scale jump by like 9 pounds in a single day. I’m guessing it’s all because of my diet and probably not getting enough protein, so I’m definitely going to start fixing that ASAP. But hey, I was wondering, is there actually any kind of medication or just some pills that can help with this bloating stuff? I'm heading to see my doctor tomorrow to get some professional advice and see what they think...
I’m 19 and I’ve been dealing with this one issue that’s honestly just draining my soul at this point... Over the last year, I went through this massive weight loss phase—dropped from about 185 lbs down to like 123 lbs just a month ago. But then, after that month, I gained 15 pounds back pretty fast (family stuff, depression... basically just stress-eating everything in sight). Because the weight loss was so intense and I was at such a low body fat percentage—like under 10%—my doctor actually mentioned my skin elasticity looked pretty poor. Now that I've put those 15 pounds back on, I can literally feel my facial skin sagging a bit when I walk... and there's another thing. During that rough month, I was crying constantly, and I ended up getting this weird, deep bump on the right side of my face. I kept picking at it and stretching the skin around it, and now the whole right side feels swollen and... I don't know, looser than the left? Is it even possible to permanently stretch out the skin on one side just by messing with it for a few days? Once things calmed down, I started using chamomile compresses, and while the left side of my face tightened up nicely, the right side stays puffy and feels soft to the touch... it just won't snap back. I’m trying so hard not to touch it or pull at it, but it’s driving me absolutely insane because I can’t stop thinking about it... I really need some advice or help here. I haven't even worked up the nerve to talk to my parents yet, but I’m seriously considering looking into cosmetic procedures or something. I know if I lean out again, the skin might tighten up, but I’m terrified I did permanent damage to the right side by messing with that bump. I probably sound totally crazy, maybe I am, but honestly, the last month has been a total nightmare (my dad got sick, a long-term relationship ended...) and it all just spiraled into me crying all day long. Please, if you're reading this, don't just tell me I'm losing it... I just really need some actual help or guidance. Thanks in advance.
So, I’m running a bit of a fever, maybe around 99 degrees, and I’ve got this weird aching sensation in my testicles... it feels almost like I took a light hit down there or something. It comes and goes in waves, though honestly, if I start obsessing over it, it feels like it just settles in and stays constant, even though looking back, it’s probably not as steady as I thought...😢 Any idea what might be going on here?
When does it actually open? Is it still running through September?
Forget about the book and find something else to keep you busy!
Look, I’m a massive hypochondriac myself, but honestly, it only hits me during summer break.😬
I get so bored that I just start inventing stuff—heart issues, brain tumors, cancer, you name it. It’s been going on for four years straight, every single summer. Last year was the worst; I had a headache every single day (!) for two whole months just because I was obsessing over it and laying in bed all the time. Turns out, it wasn't even a medical issue—it was just my back acting up from being so sedentary, and as soon as I’d walk over to the fridge, my head would start throbbing again. This year, I decided I needed to do *something*, even if it meant just wandering around town, and so far, I haven't thought about being sick once.
Good luck, and try to stay positive!👍
That said, definitely watch out for the sun and those nasty skin spots. You still gotta be careful. And seriously, people who constantly dwell on cancer might actually manifest it. So... keep your chin up and stop overthinking the illnesses!
Look, just go see a doctor and let them handle it. Honestly, that’s the only real way to deal with this stuff. I know you're freaking out, I really do, but think about it—what if it actually is something serious? If you catch it now, you can fix it, but if you wait... man, then you might be looking at something you can't undo...
I think I might have varicocele, specifically on my right side. I was reading online that having it on the right is actually super dangerous—is that legit? My urologist already gave me an exam, but honestly, how did he not notice anything!? They seem pretty huge to me, totally visible, and then there’s this lump inside too... What should I even do about this?😕
Could this be from masturbating too much?
Sam Hall15 said:Regarding the swelling, you likely have a varicocele; it’s quite common for someone in your age group and nothing to be terrified about... if it turns out to be a thrombosed vein, it's just the body's natural healing process forming a clot, so there is no need for alarm.
As for the urine, that's simply due to concentration levels. Overnight, a significant amount of blood is filtered while you aren't urinating or drinking anything, leading to a higher concentration of metabolites compared to the daytime when you're hydrating and voiding regularly...
I commend your awareness... even though I work in this field, I suspect I wouldn't find it easy to pull the trigger on seeing a urologist if I were in your shoes.
Thnx, so if it is a clot, does it just... fix itself? Like, do I just let it be? (I actually had one on my arm a few years back; at first, it kept getting inflamed whenever I touched it, but now it's just sitting there totally fine 😬)? Regarding the varicocele thing, I was reading online that most people end up needing surgery to get rid of it—is that actually true? And if it is, how bad is it? Does everything still function normally afterward 🙂?
I remember that exact moment it happened, playing around with my snake 😬—I've been dealing with this ever since. Something definitely popped or went south inside right then (it hit me right in the middle of things and I had to stop immediately, if you know what I mean...). Oh, and I did get my urine tested (it wasn't reddish back then, but whatever, you said the same thing my old man did), and everything came back totally clear. I can't quite remember if it ever looks kind of brownish in the afternoon, maybe it used to happen in the morning, but I'm not 100% sure...
Morgan Williams4 said:It’s probably just a cyst, but since I’m no doctor, you really ought to see a urologist to get it checked out. They’ll do a physical exam and then might run an ultrasound or a color Doppler if needed—they might even pull some blood to check tumor markers. Look, it's better to deal with ten minutes of awkwardness than to spend days worrying about what it could be!
So, I’ve got this lump near my right testicle—not actually *on* the nut itself, but more like around it, maybe in the scrotum area... and man, it hurts sometimes when I ejaculate. It’s this sharp pain in my lower right abdomen right before everything comes out, almost like it’s hurting while the sperm is traveling through that spot where the lump is. I'm 17. About three months ago, I was basically overdoing it with the solo sessions (yeah, okay, I went a little overboard, my bad...), and I felt this stinging sensation in that area, and my testicle hurt for a few days after. Then, a couple of days later, I felt the lump. The lump itself doesn't really hurt, unless I squeeze it too hard, then I get that twinge in my lower right side. Obviously, I told the parents and went to see a urologist. I didn't end up telling him about the pain during ejaculation because that part just started happening recently, so I hadn't really had the chance to mention it yet. He checked things out and said it feels like a blocked vein or something, so probably nothing to worry about. He sent me for some blood work to check for markers, and everything came back totally normal (so, thank God, no cancer or anything...). Since then, neither the testicle nor the lump has swollen up. The thing is, I know I’ve been messing with it too much, so maybe that’s why it hurts... But there was this one time where yesterday and today it actually hurt pretty bad right before I finished. I can literally feel it the second it starts, and even if I stop, a minute later it starts aching again once things get moving (even though I wasn't even poking at it or squeezing the lump specifically). I am totally lost here. Is this like a blood clot or something? How dangerous is this? Should I just leave it alone and stop touching it, or should I go back to the urologist and tell him the whole story...?😕
I honestly don't get why anyone would feel embarrassed about going in for a checkup... I mean, if getting poked around by a chimp is what it takes to get healthy again, then bring on the monkey! I'm all in...🙂
I totally blanked on mentioning that my pee sometimes looks kind of brownish-red, especially first thing in the morning. It’s not like you can clearly see blood or anything, but it's definitely off... My old man tells me it's nothing to worry about and just happens, but I was reading online that even if it doesn't look like obvious blood, that specific color could still be a sign that there's blood in there...?????
