How on earth did you notice 👍

Gentlemen, this is all just a game for now. Don't lose sight of the fact that Vettel's time is over two seconds slower than Rosberg's time from last year, especially considering these cars are a full year newer and faster. Right now, they're just going through the motions, doing light laps and gathering data. Neither Mercedes nor Ferrari have even come close to pushing them flat out yet.

I just hope Fernando Alonso doesn't deal with a total electrical failure like last year in Barcelona🙂, because the sheer incompetence shown by McLaren-Honda is fatal.

Ultimately, drivers can only do so much if they have a car that is even remotely competitive and somewhat reliable; beyond that, I’m not counting on anything.

I’ve already stated my position: Alonso will tolerate them until about mid-season at most, and then he’ll show them the door.

Jeremy Reyes4 said:That is nonsense. Lewis Hamilton beat Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button back in Formula 3 🙄 , yet those two had been driving in Formula 1 for quite some time while Hamilton was still stuck in Formula 3.
Furthermore, his wins over Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel weren't exactly effortless. In 2004, Rosberg finished 4th, whereas Hamilton took 5th.

A comma Vettel in Formula 3, for heaven's sake. A COMMA!!!

Every little thing. They’ll snatch up every single bit.🍿

If anyone happens to know where I might find a reliable source for live timing, I would be quite grateful. A link would be appreciated.

Maldonado and Hamilton are actually two of the most similar drivers on the grid...
The primary distinction is simply that Hamilton was driving elite machinery, whereas Maldonado was stuck in an entirely different league regarding equipment quality...
Furthermore, the FIA seemed to penalize Maldonado for every little thing, while they frequently turned a blind eye when it came to Hamilton...
But fundamentally, they are cut from the same cloth: just floor the throttle and ram into whatever happens to be in front of you...

True enough, except for the minor detail that Hamilton actually won races against Alonso, Button, Rosberg, and even Vettel back in F3, all while sitting in top-tier cars.

They certainly gave it a nice coat of paint. By the way, how much does Alfa pay to have their logo slapped right on the rear end? And why there, specifically?

That's because Ford built that Engine, not Ferrari, but Ford!!!.

@tibi, see you at the season opener, haha. One person is going to be absolutely livid—I already know who it is, but you won't find out until

Good grief, they really squeezed them in there. That seat looks incredibly tight and compact; I’m actually starting to worry that Hamilton might have a bit of a struggle.

It’s a good thing he isn't sitting in a car driven by someone more talented than Vettel, otherwise, things would be getting pretty serious. 🙂

P.S. Give my best to Tibi. 🙂

🙂🙂🙂

So what exactly did Ford do this time? Who is actually responsible for this mess—is it McLaren or Ford? It seems fairly obvious to everyone, though I suppose I'm asking anyway.🙂

It's McLaren, obviously. Even Mercedes wouldn't touch it if they tried to package it that way at the rear.

it’s all about the rules.

Strip the weight down to maybe 1,000 or 1,100 pounds. Throw in some 3.5 or 4-liter turbo engines, ground effects, and fat tires, and there you have it—speed. None of those things involve high-end technology. Maybe fifty years ago you could argue for top-tier tech, but nowadays such a car would just be a dinosaur. An incredibly fast dinosaur, granted.

A T-Rex crew would build it.👍

A race lasts from start to finish, not just from lap one to sixty-two...
I assume you picked up that concept back in preschool during the story about the tortoise and the hare...☕

Beyond that, why even bother lying? Hamilton's actual advantage during the race itself was a mere 15 seconds. Everything else was simply a byproduct of the SC, not his driving. Even then, half of those 15 seconds can be credited to Sainz, Merhi, Stevens, and the rest of the pack. In fact, the gap before Rosberg and Vettel ran into Sainz and the traffic was only about 7-8 seconds. I fail to see any meaningful connection between Sainz, Merhi, Stevens, Grosjean, Button, and the crew holding up Rosberg and how that relates to Hamilton's performance. 🙄

I have no desire to continue this debate with you. It is becoming an exercise in futility.

stormybadger8 said:If he actually were better, he would have won. Everything else is just fairy tales...
It wasn't a blown tire or a mechanical failure; it was more like he and his entire crew suffered a collective mental breakdown...

Ultimately, it’s like saying someone is an elite sprinter in the 100-meter dash—he absolutely crushes the field for the first 75 meters, but then he trips over his own feet. Suddenly, the winner isn't the deserving winner.😁

I honestly don't follow your logic. I try to pour some sense into your head, but I simply can't.

Did Ayrton Senna dominate Alain Prost in Monaco? Let's hear this philosophy of yours.

Hello Hamilton had a 20-second advantage. I'm talking twenty seconds before the safety car even came out. I don't know what you're talking about, kid.

He beat him. So what? One single instance doesn't define an entire era. Besides, the very fact that you feel compelled to throw around the word "cheating" in your opening sentence tells me everything I need to know about the "hater" mentality and the cheap shots you claim to be so allergic to. 🙂

Button crushed Lewis Hamilton, but since I wasn't watching that season... oh, wait, you think it's because he had more points!!!.

The difference is that he didn't outdrive him on pure talent; it was due to other factors.

Ric outdrove Sebastian Vettel on pure merit. That is the distinction.

For God's sake, look at how Button is handling Alonso this year.

stormybadger8 said:What's the point of being the best if you aren't actually winning...
And how exactly was Lewis Hamilton better than Nico Rosberg at the Monaco GP? By the fact that unlike Nico Rosberg, he used his hands and feet, but didn't bother using his brain much...

How he was better than Nico Rosberg, how interesting, haha🤣, I really have no need to comment on this one; you've simply outdone yourself.

Good grief, he left him twenty seconds behind in the exact same car🤦

Nico Rosberg didn't leave him twenty seconds behind when you factor in the full two years of racing and the overall advantage during that stretch.

neonfox65 said:I have no idea what they actually changed over there, but that first turn is driving me crazy. They completely ruined it with that curb setup; people just can't take the corner properly anymore. It’s frustrating because you can see how much width they could have given us.

No clue. I heard some rumors that they messed around with the curbing near the tunnel exit, if I recall correctly.

Does anyone happen to have a photo or perhaps a video showing the updates they made over at the pool complex? They were tinkering with that section recently. I haven't been keeping up with the training sessions lately, so I'm a bit out of the loop regarding the specifics.

So, is Lewis Hamilton actually faster than Nico Rosberg?
