Jason Fisher78 said:Not really. I was actually pulling for the Los Angeles Lakers until Vlade Divac joined the roster. After that, I switched my loyalty over to their biggest rivals, the Boston Celtics. They just had this whole vibe—sort of like a classic, old-school, Irish-Catholic, East Coast establishment type of team.

Alright, I think I get the gist of where you're coming from. I'm gonna wrap this discussion up here. Take care.

rowdytinker3 said:Hey, you're entitled to your opinion. But honestly? Everyone besides Jordan deserves credit for those six rings and that incredible 82-10 season. I'd say Steve Kerr and Scottie Pippen were the biggest contributors, followed by Dennis Rodman, and then Jordan. And Toni Kukoč was definitely in that mix somewhere too.

Personally, though, I still think the real turning point was that center duo, Longley - Wennington. 🙏

Wow, Jason Fisher78. It’s pretty obvious you either don't get it or you just don't want to see it.
It is freaking OBVIOUS that Scottie Pippen had better numbers when Jordan wasn't there, simply because he HAD to step up and take over the leadership role. So why didn't he put up those kinds of stats when Jordan was on the court? Was it because Michael had to be the face of the franchise due to the media hype, or was it just because he was the better player?
Scottie was an incredible all-around player, and honestly, he was built perfectly to handle all that "invisible," gritty dirty work—there's really no one quite like him, at least in the era I've followed.
But there is a very specific reason why Scottie remained in that supporting role to Jordan, and a reason why Phil organized things that way.
Media hype?
Of course. ☕

I mean, it's almost impossible to have a real conversation with you because you view absolutely everything through the lens of raw statistics. You end up creating this circular logic loop of "arguments"—claiming they played better without Jordan because their stats were higher (even though those stats were higher only because they had to fill the void left by Jordan).

There is just one "subtle" little difference, though. Without Jordan, zero championships. With him, six.

frozentiger6 said:When you talk about Jordan, you can't just ignore those chunky Delta Air Lines era sneakers 🙏 🙏 🙏

That's just classic American marketing for you... at the end of the day, they can sell anything to anyone if they spin it right.

Half my middle school buddies were rocking those Shaquille O'Neal backpacks.
Man, honestly, Jordan deserved more of that spotlight 😁

frozentiger6 said:You know, Jason Fisher78, you definitely strike me as one of those Utah Jazz or Seattle SuperSonics fans who probably spent the entire nineties feeling completely intimidated by Jordan.😛

because that's exactly how it comes across.
It reminds me of this one buddy of mine who was such a huge Shawn Kemp fan he practically developed an ulcer just from the stress of watching NBA games.😁

Jason Fisher78 said:They claimed they did, it's just that we can't verify it now because there wasn't any online coverage back then.

How fitting for your red herring. ☕
Jason Fisher78 said:But honestly, our media was even worse than the American media.

Very relevant.
Jason Fisher78 said:The thing is, there are definitely players out there with better stats than Jordan who had an even bigger impact on their teams.

How much more? Like 20%? 50%?
Jason Fisher78 said:So, I'm disputing how overrated he is, specifically regarding the idea that he basically won titles all by himself.

The best part is that nobody here is actually claiming that, nor is Jordan himself; it's just a narrative you've constructed using non-existent or unverified sources.
I don't quite get why you're getting so worked up... Jordan was the best player and the absolute ruler of the league during the era of globalized broadcasts and that massive concentration of talent in the NBA. wtf? 🤷

Jason Fisher78 said:No, he’s actually saying Jordan's teammates >>> Wilt Chamberlain's teammates.

Sure, Longley was a world-class talent🙄

What kind of nonsense are you even talking about? It’s honestly wild. First off, we just arrived at this brilliant conclusion that to be good at basketball, you need to have four other decent players around you. Wow. ☕
It's true, Jordan had great teammates in Scottie Pippen, Kerr, and an incredible coach—that’s a given. But what separates him from a thug like Wilt Chamberlain or those other "one-man show" clowns is his ability to lead. He knew how to squeeze the absolute maximum out of someone as talented as Scottie Pippen (though, let's be real, Pippen couldn't carry the Chicago Bulls on his own) and even out of guys like Longley who just happened to find themselves on the Bulls roster and played their part.
You can't really capture that through stats alone; if you try, you just end up looking ridiculous.

Jason Fisher78 said:Think about Wilt Chamberlain for a second. He led the league in assists, field goal percentage, and rebounds a whopping 29 times. Now, how many times did Michael Jordan lead the league in those exact categories? Not once!

Fair point. And despite all that physical dominance, Wilt only managed to snag two championships. So, what does that actually tell us?

Michael Jordan's "IQ" >>>>>> Wilt Chamberlain's "IQ"

Michael Jordan >>>> Wilt Chamberlain

Brenda Cook2 said:Even though I've got 25 New York Yankees jerseys in my collection, I know for a fact this one is from the 99/00 season😁

Brenda Cook is actually onto something here. Honestly, we really are talking about that 99/00 season.
Now, we’re just sitting here, waiting for it to finally arrive. ☕

I’m just sitting here waiting for the universe to play a joke on me. You know that feeling? I have this nagging suspicion that the moment I finally rip open this jersey package, I'm going to find number 12 with "Barmby" printed right on the back. Is it too much to ask for a little bit of luck, or is the universe just waiting to pull one over on me? 🙄 )
