Best pancake fillings, hands down:

1. Anything savory works—think mushrooms, cheese, ham, maybe even some pâté if you're feeling wild... sautéed or raw, doesn't matter much to me.
2. Just squeeze some lemon juice over them and add a tiny, tiny bit of sugar. Simple.
3. A sweet cheese and cream filling, but you absolutely have to bake them in the oven first to get that perfect texture.

Let me introduce myself, Tovariš Gaj Julije Dmjris MDCCCLXXVIII: 😁

Sex in Congress

Since there aren't any actually important topics to talk about, American politicians have been obsessing over the results of a Durex study regarding sexual habits. Even that first guy Kirin was bragging about being above average.

Most of our congressional representatives and ministers agreed that Ingrid Antičević-Marinović was rightfully named the most desirable politician in the Durex survey. Yesterday, they were out in the halls of Congress spilling their secrets to reporters, and a few rare souls even admitted they're below average.

Among them, guys like Pero Kovačević and the fellow Andrija Hebrang mentioned that people in their age group are having sex two or three times a week—which is just overkill, according to The Evening News. A former health minister interpreted the fact that Americans are one of the most sexually active nations in the world as a direct result of successful pro-natalist policies from the GOP.

Then you've got the politicians who claim to be above average, including Interior Secretary Ivica Kirin, who wasn't shy about boasting. "We Americans have always been a high-potential people. We live naturally, eat healthy food, and, my God, the results show. I belong to the younger generation, so maybe I'm not the most objective, but if you're asking me, I can tell you I'm above average," Kirin told reporters at The Evening News.

Also claiming to be above average is the self-proclaimed king of meat distributors, Stjepan Fiolić, who agrees with the consensus on the most desirable female politician.

On the other hand, some folks, like Dragutin Lesar, think the results could have been better and insist that Americans aren't being boastful at all.

The most desirable American politician wouldn't comment on the poll results, simply stating she wasn't surprised by her selection—though it did cause some awkwardness in Congress yesterday. During a debate about arming police officers with rifles, someone made a crack about her having nothing against long barrels, which sent the mostly male representatives into fits of laughter.

If this isn't Hebrang's Shit of the Year, then there's no justice left in this world...

Nicholas King62 said:Honestly, regarding Heller, I can get behind "Something Happened." It’s messy and chaotic, sure, but it isn't *bad*. Though, I doubt I'll ever pick it up again... just way too depressing.

I mean... it's definitely better than "The Fire Next Time" or "A Man Worth His Salt"—though that last one is packed with those brilliant Kissinger's nonsense bits. The part that really stuck with me was: "I feel like a lonely cowboy riding into town at the head of my troops." 😁 🙄 Nothing compared to what Hebrang was pulling yesterday, but still pretty entertaining...

Kevin Chavez3 said:Man, it blows my mind how much of a total dumpster fire the rest of Heller's work is... He tried quoting "Dead End" and some other two-parter like "The Catch," and I honestly couldn't believe just how trashy the writing could actually be. 🙏

I've read everything of his that’s been translated, and looking at those other three books—including that one you mentioned, "A Man Worth His Weight In Gold"—there isn't even ten good sentences in the whole bunch. Heller is definitely a one-hit wonder. But whatever, that first book is basically the holy grail of all laws...

Tuesday night at the French reading room. We’re gonna have a few real frog aka sharks parked out front, plus my collection of freakish models from the Citroen club displayed in the window. Inside, we’ll be projecting a film from Paris—the same place where the whole frog kingdom gathered last month to celebrate fifty years of croaking. Naturally, I took them up on the offer to show off my collection, which basically meant I dropped about $160 on some Citroens I was missing, and probably even more on random other stuff just because... My room currently looks like this:

So... this Tuesday, there's a film screening and an exhibition hitting town to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the frog aka shark aka the Citroën DS. Since quite a few of my own models are actually gonna be part of the show, I figured I’d drop a little visual top list for you guys:

My personal Top 29 Citroën models:

Now you finally know why I barely ever post in the thread about new vinyl arrivals. Every cent I have goes straight into these tiny cars... screw eBay and whoever came up with it!

I didn't even bring him up myself... 😳 Though, if some people here are still debating whether he even qualifies as a sci-fi writer, then what's there left to say about him?...

So there it is, the heavy hitters: Sturgeon, Bradbury, LeGuin, Martin... though if I'm being honest, I’d probably put Gibson at the top of my list. But yeah, strictly speaking, they all outclass everyone else when it comes to short stories, maybe with the exception of the Strugatsky brothers, who are definitely right up there in the mix too.

even if she’s out there shouting "bring it on" about some damn prince's head, it still sucks.

I totally disagree.

And honestly? Just wait until Arthur C. Clarke comes after you for making a statement that blasphemous... 😁

Look, I’ve still got my stash of Mickey Mouse comics and those old Mickey almanacs sitting at home. Plus, I actually kept some of the posters from back in the day hanging on my wall for a long time too... 😍

If you didn't save that stuff, you aren't a real one... I've even got those oversized Mickey magazines that came out before all the other stuff—not even gonna get started on the general classics like Comic-Con, Marvel, or Duck...

Honestly, you can insult whoever you want, but if someone puts When the Levee Breaks and Achilles in their list, they’re clearly holding onto some hope... just like him.

10 tracks with the best (or most unexpected) twists in those final lines:

1. Thomas Dolby - Key of your Ferrari (just a clever little trick)
2. Zvonak Špišić - bicik (totally predictable, but still a vibe)
3. Vatreni poljubac - Žikino kolo (honestly, without a music video, it doesn't even hit half as hard)
4. Elvis J. Kurtovich - Zašto ljubav boli (probably the most effective one-liner in American music)
5. Bob Dylan - Drifter's escape (this was my late grandma's absolute favorite twist)
6. Jacques Brel - Les bonbons (and honestly, even better if you catch Brelov's stage presence)
7. Ran Mraz - O kako tužnih ljubavi ima (Balašević... man, he's just a genius with words, as usual)
8. Johnny Cash - A boy named Sue (expected, right? But when it's this good, who cares...)
9. Kraftwerk - Showroom dummies (that twist is so subtle you almost miss it)
10. Satan panonski - Lepa Mario (kind of surreal, isn't it?)

(I'm not saying these are the top 10 ever, just the first 10 decent ones that popped into my head...

Man, that's actually heavy enough to put in a sig... 🙏 🙏 🙏 I guess the thing with Skids isn't half bad either (though I basically created a monster by recording them with Ar Peka—they're good, sure, but not *that* good, except maybe to him). If I didn't have the untouchable Sad Owl, I might actually give them a shot...

The band might approve (and honestly, they'd probably start a riot over it), but when it comes to my beloved piece of heavy metal... hmph... 🙂

To be honest... that one trip to Cleveland years ago was actually pretty great. I still think about that apartment you had there, with all those little bells next to everyone's last names, and then just one single name at the top: "The Peak." 😁 Between that and that whole situation with Carmen Elektra living in Selac, always changing her look... this car just brings back a massive flood of memories...

So, let's talk about one of the absolute legends, Neil Young. Most of his stuff is basically just him singing about love, and honestly, I bet he holds the world record for how many times the word "love" shows up in his song titles.
