So, I threw together a playlist this morning with a mix of Franz Ferdinand and Interpol, just shuffling those two back and forth, and honestly? It’s alright. To me, Interpol feels a bit weaker and kind of soul-less, though they aren't terrible by any means. It’s like when I pick out two types of mushrooms—one is absolutely incredible and the other is just decent—and I toss them both into a stew. I know the second one is fine enough that it won't ruin the whole meal, even if it's a little bland on its own...
Mercury Records at Aquarius? in Music ·
It’s not like I’m obsessed with live rave culture or anything, but man, you really can only be pleasantly surprised at this point.

And honestly, with Aquarius, if the band kills it and the show is solid, then the venue doesn't really matter. The Tinariwen set was awesome because they're such a killer band and just created this whole vibe, and that's my take on the venue anyway—it's secondary...

bad seed said:they honestly think they're some kind of heroes 😁

there was this one serial savior at the last wedding I went to. sat right at my table, too. guy probably tried to drag me onto the dance floor five different times, yet somehow managed to dance with basically every woman within a hundred yards. clearly not everyone mastered the whole "just say no" tactic 😁 and to top it all off, he managed to worm his way into almost every single photo. the man really knows how to manage his schedule... 🙏

The absolute legend at that wedding was this guy from a fire station in a small town in the Midwest (located somewhere between a small rural village and another small town in the Midwest—it was obvious from the jump this was going to be top-tier, you can't mess up a location like that) wearing a white button-down, just sitting at our table cracking up while listening to everyone bickering (honestly, a few people were really going at it). He just left his wife and daughter to the "saviors," especially that Feki guy we mentioned, and just laughed. And if we're being real, the vibe—aside from the sheer amount of food—wasn't much different from a decent Thursday night at the blind club. Except since it was a wedding, it was... normal, I guess, to act the way we usually do... 😁

The ultimate list of wedding highlights—some from my own life, some legendary stories...

1. That time Dana Anderson4 leaned right into Tamarin's wedding cake
2. The first time we actually saw Dolgcajt and Dinko perform at Škerin's wedding (can you believe the frontman for Bejbiz was playing weddings? Seriously!)
3. Feko. A real one. Absolute legend. The guy just owns every wedding he walks into...
4. The singer at kristijan's wedding—honestly, we spent about 80% of the night just staring at her. She was stunning.
5. Dancing with my six-year-old niece at my cousin's wedding. 😍
6. Waking up the morning after my brother's wedding while the guys went on and on about all the different ways he’d totaled his car
7. The beer setup at that one wedding—black Gosser and light Budweiser
8. Throwing a flashlight out the window on the drive home from kristijan's wedding (I mean, were waffles flying too?)

I've been to maybe 7 or 8 weddings in my time, and honestly, most of them were pretty great...

np The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.

Listening to The Band, not a fan of Joy Division... 😍 If you weren't already married, I might've actually asked you out... 😬

Yeah, well, personally, I can't stand either of them. 😵

Screw Joy Division. Nothing beats our local police department...🙂

7. Ramones

Honestly, the best one is just Ramones... mostly because of how it sounds...

Look, that was strictly for the sake of art. It was part of a whole performance piece where I was trying to invent this new dance move called "diving under the rug."😳 Besides, I had no idea the snow had already frozen over into a solid sheet of ice. Ended up splitting my forehead open pretty good...

And besides, they were playing the Joe Perry Project, and honestly, hearing South Station Blues is enough to drive anyone straight into a state of pure madness...

miss l on the road said:My top 3 worst holidays:

1. Labor Day—because I’m usually driving back from the coast and always end up stuck in some massive traffic jam outside of Miami
3. My birthday—since I just get older and older every single year

For me, those two are basically one and the same—I was born on Labor Day. And honestly, it's one of my least favorite times of year. Back in the day, I used to think any holiday was better than work, but now that I actually have a job, I kind of appreciate any excuse to take a break. Christmas and New Year's are just irritably stupid... I can't stand that time of year, but hey, if a random federal holiday pops up out of nowhere? I'll take it.

And don't even get me started on snow. I love it so much I'd be happy to never see it again for the rest of my life. If it's cold, fine. A dry, crisp winter? Sure. But snow and ice, and then having to actually walk through it... yeah, never.

😢

Man... I first heard him over twenty years ago on that killer Polydor compilation, "The Guitar album." It was this massive double album I could never actually track down, no matter how many times I scoured places like Tower Records or those local indie shops... I didn't even manage to rip it to my computer back then. I didn't really dive deep into his discography until I stumbled upon some P2P sharing sites, but for some reason, his sound just stuck with me. Honestly though, I had no clue he was still around...

Rest in peace. A bit of an odd place to lay a (half) Native American legend to rest...

Maybe God's anger will hit us as a massive flood, giving Kaćunko the perfect chance to flex those healing powers during some medicinal operation they call "Pfizer"... 😁

1. Anđelko Kaćunko (per Article 1 of God's law regarding mortal sins—this guy is drowning in sin; his arrogance is enough to stun even the Lord's mercy, so he's sentenced to death via old-school church methods [burning at the stake, the Iron Maiden, decapitation, or quartering])

😲 You're really telling me you won't even show up to Mass for Susan Sontag? 😉

coastalpanther11 said:Look, let’s be real—every "indie snob from the Xet Team" has their own specific musical compass. Nobody can touch that, not even Pitchfork. A true indie Xet Snob (INXS - indie Xet Snob) will never admit they actually liked an artist just because some other indie Xet Snob recommended them (unless we're talking folk or some other equally cringe genre). They’ll only admit to liking it months later, after they’ve cooked up a story about how they discovered the stuff all on their own.

As for Devendra, you're late to the party. All the indie Xet Snobs have been vibing with Devendra for ages and are just waiting to see him play in Washington, D.C.

Productivity level for Thursday, November 24 = 3%, overcast, snow

Late? How exactly am I late, for God's sake? I might have missed the first album, but I downloaded the second one the second it dropped. I even hunted down those rare side releases and downloaded/listened to everything... I'm not that behind, I swear on my late sexual life! 😢 Besides, if there was any delay, it's just because I'm getting older and my reflexes are slowing down... Plus, I fell in with some bad crowds, but hey, I made it out! 😬

Anyway, there's this awesome, weird guy-band thing—he's been playing forever and is totally trippy. Name's Momus. So, uh, if you happen to stumble upon it... maybe you'll dig it in a few months or so! 😁

Jerry Mitchell62 said:It took me a pretty long time too. He’s not quite enough of a revelation to be the discovery of the year—that spot is currently reserved for Momus 😁 , mostly because I fell for him at first sight, which doesn't happen to me often 😍 . Anyway, he's great, but I realized all his songs about little critters (sparrows, spiders...) are flawlessly brilliant. 😬
So basically: Devendra singing about birds and bugs 🙏

Devendra or Momus?

As for the questions...

One's perfect, the other's just as good.
I actually tried to talk Matt into booking Devendra at Whitmore, told him the chances were solid, but honestly, I can't tell if he was just trying to get me to shut up or if he was actually considering it...
And as for Momus, I still have to drill him into the heads of those indie snobs in the Xet Team; if they ever grow to love him, maybe one of us will finally get to see him perform in Washington, D.C.

Not that any of that really concerns you regarding Washington, D.C., though... 😬 😈

Given my genetic makeup, I feel like sticking with the name of that old-school Pop Rock band feels a bit more authentic... 😁

Don't sweat it regarding little Rock... His parents and us two godparents (just four decent Americans, a solid group of middle-aged folks) are all hitting up one baptism together, and it’s definitely not at some massive cathedral in the middle of NYC. Honestly, I highly doubt kiddo is gonna grow up to be some choir boy from that crowd.

Or maybe he totally will? You know how it goes—pure rebellion. Just to spite his parents who let him run wild being a punk, a metalhead, a water polo player, an archer, an enigma, or even a blacksmith... the kid might just decide to go full pop star on us!
