Intel switchable graphics - tutorial in Laptops ·
This thread serves as a tutorial for anyone running a laptop with hybrid or integrated graphics on Windows 10. Since the latest versions of NVIDIA GeForce Experience have completely stripped out the dedicated card switching options—honestly, I’m still fuming at NVIDIA for that decision—you’re forced to dig through some pretty disorganized Windows settings to get things working right.

If you happen to be one of the lucky ones still running older driver versions, follow this:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/support/kb/faq/dh-017

For those on the newer drivers, here is the workaround:
Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings:
Switchable Dynamic Graphics -> Global Setting -> Plugged in -> Maximum Performance
NVIDIA graphics power setting -> NVIDIA powerplay setting -> Plugged in -> Maximum Performance

If these options don't show up in your Power Options after installing the new drivers, don't panic and reinstall Windows just yet (though NVIDIA certainly makes you want to)—I ended up having to do a full offline upgrade to Windows version 2004 to fix my own mess.

To force the integrated GPU for a specific game:
PC Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics settings -> Browse for a desktop app -> Select the .exe, then set it to "Power Saving"

To force the hybrid GPU for a specific game:
Follow the exact same steps above, but select "High Performance" instead.

How to verify which GPU is actually active:
Right-click the Taskbar -> Task Manager -> Performance tab
GPU 0 is your integrated chip; GPU 1 is your hybrid card.

ATI actually held their own back in the day—until AMD bought them out, and then the quality just tanked. Right now, I’m stuck wrestling with these Adrenalin drivers because my system won't even switch from integrated graphics to the dedicated GPU while I'm gaming. Also, someone mentioned Linux drivers earlier; honestly, the situation there is even messier than it is on Windows (we're talking constant firmware errors and whatnot). Long story short, I am officially done with AMD—my next laptop will definitely be an Nvidia build. And don't even get me started on their legacy policy, where they just declare a card obsolete and stop releasing new drivers for it entirely. It's absolute garbage.
I’m officially declaring myself cured—all symptoms have vanished. Honestly, taking some Align really got things moving again 😁. My appetite is back in full swing, too; I even spent the entire afternoon doing some heavy lifting out in the yard. I'm feeling significantly better, and I definitely treated myself to a little bourbon and a beer once I finished a solid meal. 🙂
I haven't actually seen a doctor yet, but based on my symptoms—purely layman's terms here—I'm pretty sure I've caught this:
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/adenovirus/symptoms-causes/syc-20351794
The diarrhea really ramped up—I was stuck in the bathroom at least 10 times yesterday alone. Things have finally started to settle down now that I’ve bumped up my doses of Align every 4 to 6 hours. I’ve been looking like a total zombie because of some blood loss from hemorrhoids—an old issue of mine that flared up due to the constant trips to the restroom—but that’s improving now that I'm back on my iron, zinc, and multivitamins. The stomach cramps have mostly subsided; there's still a lingering bit of nausea, but my appetite is finally coming back. I've got some heavy manual labor scheduled for tomorrow, so once I get some solid food in me and break a sweat, I might just call this illness officially over.
Just grab some B-50 complex along with some iron and zinc—you’ll be eating like a king. 😁

Licking nipples isn't actually a risk—at least, that's what doctors say:
https://www.thebody.com/article/hiv-...ucking-nipples
https://helpline.aidsvancouver.org/p...e-hiv-10329462

Besides, the whole thing lasted maybe thirty seconds—she just adjusted herself while she was on top, I gave her a quick lick, and that was it. Nothing to worry about.
Jeremy Johnson18 said:So, you're actually telling me you weren't even in the same room?
Maybe they were kissing—or at least just breathing the same air without a mask on for a bit?

There wasn't any kissing involved, but let me tell you—we were both huffing and puffing like we’d just run a marathon. Honestly, who even uses masks during sex? If I showed up to a date looking like that, I’d probably get slapped. 😁

Gregory Evans said:To answer your question—give me a call at one of these numbers as soon as you can:
The CDC just released their latest briefing regarding preparedness protocols—standard procedure, really, though it feels like we’re constantly circling the drain with these updates. They’ve laid out the framework for how they intend to handle upcoming health contingencies, emphasizing coordination between federal agencies and local departments. It’s the usual high-level rhetoric about "readiness" and "proactive measures," which sounds great in a press release but always feels a bit thin once you look at the actual logistics. I remember back when I was working a consulting gig in Chicago, seeing how these massive institutional shifts play out on the ground—there's often a significant gap between what the headquarters in D.C. dictates and what the folks actually doing the work can implement. This current plan isn't much different. It’s a lot of talk about strengthening infrastructure and streamlining communication channels, but until we see how this translates to actual resource allocation, it's hard not to be skeptical. We've seen these "comprehensive strategies" come and go before; let's see if this one actually has teeth.
If you aren't just trolling—you’re actually going to write down what they told you. 😉

If you guys keep this up, I’m next on the list for quarantine. I finally made it home, and things have stabilized a bit—though my recovery is basically just one big rollercoaster ride at this point. Honestly, looking in the mirror last night, I looked like a straight-up vampire. My fever broke this morning, but now I'm dealing with diarrhea. To be fair, that started way before everything else went sideways—just some stomach bug stuff—so my gut is still pretty sensitive and I still have zero appetite. It’s frustrating, too, because ever since I cut back on the drinks, my health has actually taken a hit.

Look, if we’re talking about silicone implants, then catching COVID wasn't even an option for you. But hey—you definitely could have picked up something like a CDC infection instead.

The CDC has made it very clear: you aren't going to contract HIV from licking a nipple. It’s one of those things people love to obsess over, but the science just doesn't back up that specific concern.
My symptoms are taking a turn for the worse—woke up in the middle of the night with a sudden fever, and I’m shaking like a leaf. I took some Tylenol and a handful of vitamins, but I'm still feeling it. My sense of taste and smell are still fine for now, though my appetite has completely tanked; I barely ate half of what I usually do. Honestly, there's no way I can deal with this while stuck at home. That Brazilian needs to get their act together—this hand sanitizer isn't doing a damn thing.
I'm feeling a bit better today—no fever and the chills have finally died down—though I did deal with some stomach cramps this morning. Thankfully, those have subsided now too. Just to be safe, I’m sticking with a strong antiseptic throat spray to keep things clean.
Had an incident three days ago—condom was used, and the only "risky" part was licking her silicone implants. Yesterday, I started feeling these "pre-tuberculosis" type symptoms: headaches, weakness, fatigue, and a slight chill (kind of like the flu), though everything else seems fine. I’m heading home in two days, and now I'm starting to panic about potentially infecting half the town. Should I be worried about these symptoms, or should I just ignore them and see what happens? She seemed totally fine herself and claimed she was "clean." Then again, I can't rule out a common cold since I showered at her place and walked outside half-naked.
Windows updates are nothing but unnecessary garbage that ends up breaking your system when you least expect it. I personally killed off my update notifications ages ago—did some registry tweaking and then finished the job with a tool called Windows Update Blocker, haha. 😁:
https://www.sordum.org/9470/windows-...-blocker-v1-5/
The only thing actually worth doing with this Windows 10 junk is a full offline upgrade to the latest version (and I mean a clean offline upgrade, not those annoying online updates). Since the latest Windows 10 ISO files are too massive for a standard DVD, you’re going to need to install the ISO onto a USB stick instead. There are plenty of ways to pull that off, but I usually recommend using Yumi:
https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-m...t-usb-creator/
With that, you can whip up a bootable Windows installation USB, run the setup directly from the drive, and just select the upgrade option.
By the way, grab your Windows 10 ISO image right here:

Issues with a USB drive? in IT Support ·
wearymason4 said:I’ve managed to "resurrect" about 20 memory sticks so far.
Some were easy fixes—just wiped the partition and started fresh—but others were total disasters because of bad connections or broken pins.

With FAT, you've got more than just filenames and extensions; the attributes and the start/end addresses for every fragment are actually written twice on the disk as a backup. So, if you wipe those specific blocks containing that data, there's nothing left on the drive to actually read.

Back in the day, you could usually clean up that kind of mess in the FAT table just by running a standard "chkdsk."

Look, if the stick is write-protected at the controller level, none of that matters. You can't do anything because the hardware itself refuses any changes—it's strictly read-only.
The diskpart method is only useful if you're dealing with a virus or some software glitch:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/
But again, that won't touch a hardware failure. In that case, the stick is permanently stuck in read-only mode. I've dealt with one of those before.
Issues with a USB drive? in IT Support ·
Some USB drives basically decide to go into "read-only" mode on their own—it’s when the device's internal controller realizes that any further writing will just corrupt everything. I’m about 90% sure that’s exactly what happened here; I actually dealt with a nearly identical situation in my own work recently. If the drive doesn't have a physical write-protect switch on the side, you can bet 😁 that you're looking at a hardware failure if a write-protect error pops up. You could try using Rufus, which helps in certain scenarios, but in my experience, it won't fix this kind of thing.
Is my HDD dying? in IT Support ·
fadedorca66 said:Nah, laptops usually don't have a cable... You probably need to crack it open to see if something's just loose, then try testing the hard drive in another PC to figure out if the issue is actually the drive, the laptop itself, or maybe just the OS...

Modern laptops usually feature a dedicated SATA cable—older models used to plug directly into the SATA connector. I definitely agree that the HDD needs to be pulled out and tested elsewhere. Honestly, the easiest path is what I already suggested: just convert it into an external drive using a SATA III to USB 3.0 adapter cable.
Is my HDD dying? in IT Support ·
Looking at the SMART data, this drive shows over 3,000 power-on cycles and more than 5,000 operating hours—given the symptoms you're seeing, I'd say this thing is a prime candidate for replacement. There’s also a chance the SATA cable itself is shot. My suggestion? Pull the drive out and try connecting it externally using a USB 3.0 to SATA III adapter. If it still crashes while hooked up via USB, then you know for sure the drive is defective.

Smart people opt for a USB wireless mouse instead of fumbling with a touchpad. The solution is simple—just buy a mouse.
How do I connect my phone to my PC? in IT Support ·
The simplest and fastest way is just plugging in via USB—the drivers install themselves automatically, and you can manage all your files directly through File Explorer. You’ll just need to set your Android device to MTP mode (File Transfer) temporarily:
https://www.howtogeek.com/195607/how...er-if-it-isnt/
Honestly, Bluetooth can be a total headache when you're trying to pair things. I don't personally recommend it—it's significantly slower than a USB connection anyway. If you insist on trying, the workflow is Windows 10 settings — Devices — Bluetooth on — Pairing — Connecting. You also have to make sure the Bluetooth service is set to "Automatic" within Windows services, and that the blue icon is active in your taskbar for sending and receiving data.
As for Wi-Fi, forget about it. For direct communication, you'd need a routed Android device running an FTP server app, and since Windows 10 dropped support for direct ad-hoc connections (they basically stripped it from the driver model), it's not as easy as it was back in the Windows 7 or 8 days.
Upgrading to an SSD for a speed boost? in IT Support ·
A 24 GB SSD?! 😂
Look, you aren't going to get anywhere with that. Just buy a decent SATA3 SSD—at least 500 GB—and install everything on it. Simple as that.
Testosterone levels in Health ·

I got my testosterone results this morning—the range is 6-27
Mine shows 25.5; pay attention to the red text

Anyway, I have a hard time waking up sometimes—one day I have a high libido, the next I don't
How could this not be an error?
If testosterone is high, isn't cortisol supposed to be low?

Honestly, I feel like telling these labs and their crooked reference ranges to go jump in a lake. Here are some more realistic limits:

Reference Intervals

Method: The electrochemiluminescence immunoassay “ECLIA”

Test subjects ng/ml ng/dL nmol/L

Males 20-49 years 2.49-8.36 249-836 8.64-29.0
Males ≥ 50 years 1.93-7.40 193-740 6.68-25.7
Females 20-49 years 0.084-0.481 8.40-48.1 0.290-1.67
Females ≥ 50 years 0.029-0.408 2.90-40.8 0.101-1.42

Based on this, your result of 25.5 nmol/L puts you in the upper-middle range—it’s definitely not too high. For context, my best reading was ever a 23.5, and I only use natural supplements like Tribulus to boost things. Back in the day, maybe 50 years ago, a "normal" max testosterone level for professional athletes was considered 35 nmol/L—but these geniuses today just keep lowering the lab thresholds, which is why yours is capped at 27. If you aren't using any performance enhancers, your numbers are excellent. As for the fatigue or low libido, get a full metabolic panel done; in 90% of cases, the culprit is actually low iron.

Take a look at points 1 through 3—you’re likely dealing with an incorrect refresh rate issue. Go into your Windows display settings and make sure you have it set to 60 Hz:
