Honestly, you should just check Airbnb; there are tons of apartments you can rent for a night or two—I’m pretty sure that’s actually your best bet. There isn't really much of a hostel selection right around Central Park anyway, lol.
It’s gonna be legendary, honestly, I’m mostly just counting down the days until I can catch the Fratellis and Vitalica. Got my ticket already, because there was zero chance I was missing out on this one.
so, have you actually sat down and played on either of those two? what’s the vibe like?
anyway, I’m actually moving to England soon, so finding something decent there is probably going to be the smarter play. got any other recommendations floating around?
I mean, I’m kind of with you on that—it’ll be way easier to track down the perfect keyboard over there than it is here, though if I were in your shoes, I’d honestly just go used because they are sooo much cheaper !!! and honestly, they're practically indestructible as it is.
Man, I am absolutely dying to get my hands on a Happy Hacking keyboard, but the one thing that’s driving me crazy is how it lacks that number pad on the side. ;( It's not even like I have any real use for those extra keys or anything—I'm certainly not about to sit down and write a freaking novel—but the whole aesthetic just looks so damn cool to me. 🙂 Has anyone here actually spent some serious time using one, or maybe even had the chance to get their hands on one in person?
Also, I was wondering, do you guys find it easier to type on an English layout or a standard American one? I guess it's all just habit at this point, but still...
redwolf52 said:so what's actually the deal with mechanical boards besides that whole retro vibe and paying a premium? I always figured since we have all these virtual options now, "mechanical" was just a catch-all term for anything else.
my very first keyboard was one of those—keys felt a bit stiffer and they were definitely louder, though I can't really recall any other major differences... honestly, I don't miss it one bit. 🤷
man, this thing looks ancient. I think I had something similar sitting in my basement somewhere, back when those massive old-school jacks were still a thing before they phased them out about a decade ago.
seriously, if you used this one, the neighbors would hear you typing from three houses away, it's way too loud!!!
and I'm not dropping the link here, we're supposed to be having an actual conversation, not just spamming links, right??

Wait, what even is NKRO?? Sorry, Benjamin King2, if that's a bit much for me, but for a regular guy like myself, it's all pretty hard to wrap my head around.😢
William Miller83 said:Yeah, exactly.
A mechanical keyboard.🙂
That's honestly the only kind of keyboard I'll ever buy from here on out.
And I'm talking about finding them at those little flea market stalls, you know, over by Kevin's place or down at the local hardware shop.🙂 You can dig up a Dell, an IBM... maybe even one of those old clunky ones from Commodore.🙂
I've totally trashed all my membrane ones; they just feel too mushy, like they have this weird, inconsistent bounce. I want my family to actually hear and know when I absolutely smash that Enter key.
Man, that sounds awesome—being able to snag a better keyboard even for less cash, so everyone hears you pounding away on Enter and you can just go wild on it, haha. But what happens when you head down to the local hardware shop??
redwolf52 said:Mechanical? Are we talking about those clicky ones that make noise every time you tap a key? Because if that’s what you mean, I’ve honestly just used standard boards my entire life and never felt the need to switch. Right now I’m rocking a Logitech K120 and, honestly, I couldn't be happier with it. It just feels right—everything is exactly where it needs to be under my fingertips, and it handles all my standard typing needs without any fuss. I actually picked up the whole thing as a bundle with a pretty decent mouse for a good price, too. $40 It’s all just one big mess, really.
I see people out here actually praising it: I honestly don't think people realize how much of a headache this whole situation is becoming, but here we are. I was sitting there thinking about the sheer absurdity of it all—just staring at my setup—and realized that the way everyone is arguing about these specs is completely missing the forest for the trees. It’s like watching people fight over whether a Chevy or a Ford is better when they aren't even driving cars. Anyway, I saw what dustybear9 was saying earlier, and while I get where they're coming from, it feels a bit reductive, doesn't it? It’s not just about the raw power or having the newest gear under the hood. There's a certain soul to the older stuff, a specific way things used to feel before everything became so streamlined and sanitized by massive corporations. You can't just quantify "feel" on a spreadsheet, no matter how many enthusiasts try to pretend otherwise. It reminds me of back in the day when you'd spend hours just tweaking a single setting on an old Commodore, feeling like you were actually part of the machine rather than just a user clicking buttons on a polished glass screen. Now, everything is so optimized that the friction—that little bit of struggle that actually makes you learn how things work—is being sanded away by companies that care more about quarterly earnings than actual craftsmanship. redwolf52 seems to think it's all black and white, but life isn't lived in binary. We're out here trying to find some semblance of quality in a market that's increasingly flooded with mass-produced junk designed to fail the moment the warranty expires. It’s frustrating, really. You try to build something meaningful, something that lasts, and you're met with a wall of "good enough" from people who wouldn't know high-end engineering if it hit them in the face. But hey, that's just my two cents, and I'm probably just rambling again.
Oh man, hold on now, because we’re getting ahead of ourselves here—those aren't even mechanical keyboards, you know. There’s a massive difference between us and them, really—the people who actually get it, you know? They'll understand exactly what I'm getting at without me having to spell it out. It’s honestly kind of ridiculous how you can't even touch your own stuff after midnight, like, you know, once the clock hits twelve and suddenly everything is off-limits. because it would end up echoing through half the neighborhood. 🤣
Honestly, Razer gear is just totally overrated if you ask me, like it’s all designed specifically for kids who want to look cool instead of actually getting anything done. So, I recently became the proud owner of one of these things myself.
It’s just way too much. 🤣
So, I was reading somewhere that it’s supposedly better to plug a mechanical keyboard directly into the Xbox port rather than using some other setup, but honestly, I’m struggling to wrap my head around why anyone would even care about the difference. So, I’ve finally got the adapter hooked up now, obviously. 🤷
Hey everyone, let's dive into this for a second, what actually draws you guys to these things, and honestly, how loud do they get?? 🤣 which model are you rocking right now? would you ever consider offloading yours on to someone else? also, what's the superior setup—did you go with the Xbox connection or just stick to USB, and where did you grab those adapters??
and let me know if you think that whole Razor hype is just total overkill... kinda feels overpriced to me.
also, do you actually have the specific symbols and special characters mapped out, or are you all just winging it by memory?
Who actually uses this stuff and what for?? So, this is originally a French product, and honestly, its reputation is all over the place—some countries have banned it outright while others treat it like a staple, almost like milk or something. In the USA, for example, I’m constantly using it at home for every little annoyance, like when my cuticles get messed up. Back when my wisdom tooth was coming in, I even used it as a mouthwash, and there are seriously like a hundred different ways you can use it. It depends on where you apply it, and yeah, it stings a bit, but it’s worth the hassle because everything just clears up by morning—itching, rashes, you name it. I'm curious if anyone else here uses it and could give me the lowdown. Like, is there any way to actually find it here in the States, or maybe in Europe? And does anyone know a good alternative we could just grab at a local CVS or Walgreens instead???
hey, thanks everyone, I finally grabbed that first Adobe package. Honestly, if you guys were this helpful when we were figuring out those HDD partitions, I’d probably be treating you all like royalty instead of just being polite 😉
Christian Morris80 said:Regarding those partitions of yours, it shouldn't be "backwards" or anything like that—everything is set up exactly how whoever installed your OS decided it should be, so you're stuck with that layout. If you're really itching to swap the sizes around, you can try messing with it through Disk Management.
Hey, so I gave what you guys suggested a shot, and I actually managed to shrink the C drive (the one running Windows 7) but that’s about as far as it goes, because I was under this huge impression that shrinking one would automatically bump up the size of the other, but nope, turns out that's not how it works, and now I've just got this massive chunk of unallocated space sitting there doing absolutely nothing...
Correct me if I'm being an idiot here, but my whole plan is to keep Windows 7 tucked away on its own partition and dump all my actual life and junk onto the D drive!!!
How do I actually pull that off? I assume I don't need to go hunting for some weird third-party software to do it, right?
Hey everyone, so I finally picked up a new rig running Windows 7 yesterday and honestly, it’s killer—everything is running smooth as silk and I’m feeling pretty good about it. But now I’m sitting here wondering if I actually need to mess around with installing all these updates? Everything works perfectly fine right now, and I’m really not an expert enough to be picking through them one by one, especially since everyone I talk to seems to have a different opinion... half the people say those updates can just totally wreck your system, and frankly, I don't know much about computers, so why risk it? Oh, and one more thing, which partition should I be using to stash my music, movies, and whatever else? This machine came set up with two partitions, C and D, but the D drive is only about 28GB while the C drive is sitting at 420GB or something, which feels backwards, doesn't it? thanks!!
Ryan Carter52 said:I guess I just want to see if they try to hit me with another fee again, just so I can throw it right back in their face as my reason for closing the account.🙂 I know it sounds a bit silly, but I really don't feel like dying for another $3.00 they're just going to snatch away from me anyway.
Yeah, honestly, it’s like nobody even wants to bother anymore. I mean, honestly, if things keep going this way, I might just kick the bucket right here and now. I don't even know where to start with this one, honestly. It’s just... nothing. Total void. Zero. Zilch. There isn't even enough substance here to form a coherent thought, let alone a real conversation, so I'm just sitting here staring at a blank space where an actual point should be. $3.00 Look, I’m telling you, I’m getting absolutely fleeced compared to what everyone else seems to be paying. It feels like I'm just throwing money into a black hole at this point. $3.00 So, what am I actually getting out of this? A monthly maintenance fee? Seriously, I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that in most parts of the world, you aren't getting slapped with a service charge just for the privilege of having an account sitting there with zero activity. It feels like a total racket, honestly. And it doesn't even stop at the basic fees; the whole list of "service charges" they tack on just keeps growing and growing, which really makes you wonder how much money these big banks are raking in just by nickel-and-diming us on these little fees. $3.00 So then, it’s definitely not them making things go sideways!!
Hey, thanks again for all the help, everyone. So, the thing is, the PC just starts getting hot, the fan kicks into high gear, and that’s where all the noise comes from. I actually picked this machine up back in September, but honestly, I've dealt with this exact same kind of issue on my older rigs too. I got Windows 7 installed less than a week ago along with AVG, and I already ran a full scan, so everything seems clean, yet I still can't wrap my head around why I'm seeing this specific error message. Regarding SP1, does anyone actually know what the upside is? Because like I mentioned, a few people were telling me there wouldn't be any real improvement from installing SP1. By the way, is that self-assessment score supposed to be a 4.5??
Hey everyone, just had a quick little question for you all, I’ve got a fresh install of Windows 7 running on my machine right now Does anyone know if I actually need to bother with SP1, or is it worth it? I was talking to my mentor and they were telling me I shouldn't even touch it because it might end up slowing down my whole rig in the long run??
I know there are about a thousand different opinions flying around out there, which doesn't help much when you're stuck deciding what to do, Also, for some reason, this thing feels incredibly sluggish—this is actually my second attempt at getting a successful Windows 7 installation up and running, so I'm really not sure where the bottleneck is coming from My antivirus is AVG, and it keeps throwing these annoying pop-ups saying that Mozzil is hogging something like 500ish xxx (of whatever) and suggesting I just close and reopen Mozzil again!
My specs are as follows http://www.shopmania.com/notebooks/p...2mnsk-22956607
