People who stand out from the crowd
in Psychology ·
I’ve been reading through the comments, and it seems like everyone defines being "special" by how much someone stands out from the crowd based on looks (like having blue eyes or a certain hair color) or specific personality traits (being the loud one, the funny one, or the quiet one). But when I talk about uniqueness, I’m talking about what a person radiates. It's that deep, powerful, positive impression you get—the kind of presence that makes you feel like you can't look away. That’s the level of uniqueness I think the author was actually getting at. And honestly? Those people really do exist.
Personally, I know a few of them.
Take this one girl I know. She’s incredibly soft-spoken, but when she was hanging out in a group with five other equally quiet people, she just stood out. It wasn't because she talked more than the others; it was just this energy she projects that draws people toward her. People just love being around her.
And yeah, she knows it. She isn't bragging or anything, but she's definitely aware of it.
It's the same with a buddy of mine. He ended up in a circle of equally eccentric, quirky characters, and once again... he didn't stand out because he was the "craziest" one in the bunch; he had that "it factor" that set him apart from everyone else.
Do you see what I mean? That is true uniqueness.
Now, don't get me wrong—not everyone is special in that way. When we say "every person is unique," we usually mean that every human is a different combination of parts. We all differ physically and psychologically, but the real question is how much charisma you have—your ability to pull people toward you. How much of a magnet are you? Because let's be real: not everyone has that.
