It strikes me as odd that an RTX 4070 paired with DDR5 memory would still carry such a "low" price tag...

My take? I barely have anything to say. You’re essentially flying blind—you have zero clue who actually manufactured the motherboard, the RAM, the power supply, or even the GPU itself...
It's a shady way to do business, hiding the specific component brands, but honestly, it's pretty standard practice here in the States.

A single-fan setup means a shorter card, which lets you squeeze it into a smaller case. As far as cooling goes, it’s pretty much a wash. Whether you have one, two, or three fans—I personally run a GTX 1660 Super with three—they'll all keep things cool without breaking a sweat.

This might sound a bit ridiculous, but these kinds of conflicts happen all the time when NVIDIA audio drivers clash with your system defaults. Take a look at Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers. If you see anything from NVIDIA listed alongside the standard High Definition Audio Device, just disable the NVIDIA entry and see if that fixes it.
As for that fan noise you mentioned, it could be a few things. It might be an issue with the CPU or the motherboard—perhaps a thermal sensor failed, causing the fan to run at max speed until the processor overheats and the whole rig shuts down. Or, as Jeremy Lopez57 suggested, it could be a hardware failure on the GPU itself.
Without actually seeing the machine or hearing the noise, though, we're all just guessing. If you know someone who builds PCs and has some spare parts lying around, they could probably swap components out and have this sorted in a single afternoon.
Anyway, good luck. I hope you can get this resolved quickly and without breaking the bank.

That black screen might be a symptom of an underpowered GPU, because I find it hard to believe you're struggling with the basic installation of a cracked game. Given your specs, you should be able to run everything listed here, with the exception of The Last of Us.
A 450W power supply is sufficient, though it’s cutting it pretty close.

I dealt with a nearly identical headache a few months back, and I handled it using the simplest—and cheapest—method available. I just paused my Windows updates and sat on it for at least a week before letting the installation run. That gives you enough breathing room to see if the update is actually stable or if it starts throwing a tantrum. Honestly, I haven't had a single issue with my rig in months since I started doing that.

I picked this one up, and honestly, I couldn't be happier with the decision.

It was an entertaining ride. I'll see you all again next season.
Congrats to the winners. (And honestly, a quick shoutout to the organizer for putting in all the work here)

Seasonic is the gold standard for power supplies. 👍

Sure, but you're paying for extra muscle—it comes with a 10-year warranty. At the end of the day, it’s his money; he can buy whatever he wants. I'm just pointing out what my move would be if I were in his shoes.

I'm well aware that Seasonic units are top-tier. Some people swear by them as the absolute best, others disagree, but that's the nature of everything from CPUs to GPUs or RAM...

Fair enough.
Where would I get the nerve to spend someone else's money instead of my own?

Don't be shy—go ahead and make a recommendation. You can even drop a link if you want.

You missed my point. I was commenting on how easy it is for people giving advice to blow through other people's budgets by recommending overpriced gear.

Power Supply:

RM850

I realize it’s a bit more beefy and carries a higher price tag, but with a 10-year warranty, it’s a solid investment for the long haul.
Personally, I view the PSU as one of the most critical components in any build, regardless of what the machine is actually doing. It’s better to overbuild a little than to cut corners on power. In this specific scenario, having that extra headroom won't hurt.
I’m running the black version myself, and it works flawlessly.

It’s always easy to blow someone else's budget, but why skimp on the power supply? If the funds allow, grab a Corsair unit. Most of them come with a 10-year warranty and they genuinely prove their worth for every cent you spend.

Fine, I'm all ears. Let's hear it.
They’re just a blue-collar squad. A real working-class outfit.

And here we go again.
I can't quite put my finger on why, but maybe it's because I’ve never been a fan of the Flyers in the NHL. It seems that once you decide you aren't a fan of a certain organization, that bias tends to bleed over—which explains why I can't bring myself to root for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL, either.
Look, if you're asking me, I’d happily pull for the Philadelphia Eagles if they ended up facing off against the Chicago Bears, the New York Giants, or even the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. I can't quite wrap my head around the rest of the potential matchups right now—it's far too early in the morning, and my brain is still stuck in some sort of winter hibernation.

Jonathan Wood5 said:I suspect the current hierarchy might actually hold steady. Everyone could end up betting on the Chiefs for the Super Bowl. Mahomes will be back in shape, and frankly, the Eagles didn't show much teeth during the playoffs.

I have no affinity for the Philadelphia Eagles, so I won't be putting any money on them. The Chiefs are my pick, mostly because of Mahomes and Andy Reid.

The 49ers. Even when they’re playing well, there’s always that nagging sense of "what if" hanging over the franchise. It feels like they’re constantly walking a tightrope between being a legitimate powerhouse and just another team that falls short when the stakes actually matter. You watch them grind through the season, looking efficient and disciplined, only to see the wheels wobble the moment things get chaotic. It’s a cycle of high expectations met by a frustratingly thin margin of error.
The Jaguars. It’s hard to find a more frustrating case study in missed potential. You look at the roster and you see all the tools necessary to compete, yet the execution consistently falls apart when the lights get brightest. It’s like watching a high-budget Hollywood production where the script is fundamentally broken; you have the star power and the technical skill, but the narrative direction is just aimless. They struggle with consistency, and in this league, if you can't find a rhythm, you're just waiting for someone to exploit your weaknesses.
The Buffalo Bills. Just when you think they’ve finally turned a corner, they find a new way to stall out. It’s becoming a predictable cycle of high expectations followed by that inevitable, crushing disappointment.
The Vikings. It’s hard to look at them without feeling a certain sense of inevitable disappointment. They play like a team that knows the outcome before the coin toss even happens—just a slow, grinding march toward another "what if" season. It’s a cycle of high hopes followed by a predictable collapse, much like watching a classic American tragedy unfold in slow motion.
The Bengals. One can hardly mention them without a sense of weary resignation settling in. They remain a team that consistently teases the faithful with flashes of brilliance, only to stumble when the stakes actually matter. It’s a cycle as predictable as a seasonal depression.
The Buccaneers.
There is far too much to list, but just to give you a starting point:

Aliens, Terminator 2, True Lies

The Warriors
The Great Escape

Congrats to the winner.
I’m satisfied with how I performed, though I can't afford to lose sight of next season. I need to make sure I account for playing the Denver Broncos; regardless of how well they play, they've managed to screw me over more than a few times.
NFL Pick Six 2022/23 in Other Sports ·
The Jets. A franchise that seems to exist in a perpetual state of rebuilding, though nobody can quite agree on whether they’re actually building anything at all. It’s a cycle of high expectations followed by a slow, methodical descent into mediocrity. You watch them, and it feels less like watching a professional football team and more like watching a classic American noir—lots of shadows, plenty of tension, but ultimately, a story where the hero never quite makes it out of the alleyway. They have the pieces, theoretically, but putting them together is like trying to assemble a vintage Mustang with parts from three different manufacturers; it looks good on paper, but once you hit the highway, things start rattling.
Steelers
Texans
Saints
The Broncos. Always the same old story. It’s like watching a classic muscle car try to run on cheap, watered-down gasoline—you expect a roar, but all you get is a sputter and a cloud of smoke. You see the same patterns repeating, season after season, and you start to wonder if anyone in the front office actually knows how to turn a wrench. Expecting a turnaround here is like expecting a rainy day in Seattle to suddenly turn into a heatwave in Phoenix; it’s just not how the climate works.
The Packers. One can hardly mention them without feeling that familiar sense of weary resignation. They represent that specific kind of football grit—the sort that feels perpetually stuck between glorious tradition and the harsh reality of modern competition. It’s a cycle as predictable as the seasons in Chicago.
NFL Pick Six 2022/23 in Other Sports ·
The Browns. It’s a predictable cycle of frustration that feels almost ritualistic at this point. You watch them struggle through the season, hoping for a spark of competence, only to be met with the same lack of execution that has become their trademark. It isn't just about losing games; it's the repetitive nature of the failure—the way the same mistakes are made under different lights. It reminds me of watching a poorly managed corporation like Sears trying to reinvent itself every decade while ignoring the fundamental rot in its foundation. You expect better, yet you find yourself settling for the inevitable.
The Falcons. It’s a predictable cycle of hope followed by inevitable disappointment. You watch them struggle through the season, thinking perhaps this year the foundation might actually hold, only to realize you're just watching the same structural failures play out under different lights. It’s like buying a fixer-upper in a declining suburb; you go in with visions of renovation, but the plumbing is shot and the foundation is cracked beyond repair. At this point, it feels less like a football team and more like a lesson in managing expectations.
The Patriots. It’s a predictable cycle, isn't it? You watch the same patterns repeat, hoping for a deviation that never arrives. It's like watching a slow leak in a tire—you know exactly where you'll end up, yet you still find yourself staring at the pressure gauge.
The Seahawks are essentially a study in missed opportunities. You watch them play, and it feels like watching a high-end luxury sedan with a faulty transmission—it looks great on the outside, plenty of horsepower under the hood, but the moment you try to shift gears, everything grinds to a halt. It’s a repetitive cycle of potential being stifled by fundamental execution errors. They have the talent to compete at a high level, yet they consistently find ways to trip over their own feet when the pressure mounts. It’s less about a lack of skill and more about a persistent inability to maintain composure when the game actually starts to matter.
The Steelers. It’s a heavy name to carry, one steeped in a history that feels increasingly like a distant memory. When you look at the current trajectory, it's hard not to feel a sense of weary resignation. We talk about grit and tradition, but lately, it feels more like we're just circling the drain of what this franchise used to represent. It's like watching an old heavyweight boxer who still thinks he can take a punch to the jaw just because he did it back in the eighties. The reality of the modern game is much colder.
