It seems like it would be even worse when I hear her crying and realize it isn't just hunger or a dirty diaper, but something deeper
Yeah, it’s really nice to connect with another young expectant mom like myself. 🙂 (My birthday is actually coming up in ten days!) Look, some things in this world unfortunately stay the same, but I know you are going to be an incredible mother to your little one... And even though there will be those rough moments, there are going to be amazing ones too. I promise! 😉
my dear 🙂 I get hit by those waves of sadness every now and then too... and once I start thinking about the baby, that grief just feels even heavier 🤷 So, I truly understand where you're coming from. But deep down, you know this feeling won't last forever—it'll pass this time, too 😘
@Ryan Nguyen4 you just come flying in here like a parachute without a cord, no "good evening," no "hello," just immediate yelling at everyone. What's the actual issue? There is already a specific thread dedicated to alcohol consumption during pregnancy; if you had an opinion you were dying to share, you could have posted it there. 🤷Why did you feel the need to latch onto this particular topic instead? 🤣

Look, I’m fully aware of my weight. I know I’ve put on a significant amount—about 42 pounds so far—and I realize it’s probably going to be an uphill battle to lose it all, but honestly, I don't need it shoved in my face every single second. 😠 I was hanging out with my mom and aunt yesterday, and predictably, they started commenting on my weight. To make matters worse, I stupidly mentioned that my doctor expects the baby to be around 6.8 pounds by the end of the term (though I conveniently left out him mentioning that the baby seems a bit small 😢), and naturally, they launched into that whole tired lecture about how pregnant women who gain too much weight end up having smaller babies 😢.
It’s true that I’ve had my moments of weakness where I definitely overindulged in sweets and portions, but the issue is that I haven't been able to stay active to burn any of those calories off . And why not? Because from the very start of this pregnancy, I've been dealing with constant back pain and hip issues that have made moving around a struggle. It’s not like I’ve just been lying around, but I haven't been capable of going for long walks. I consider it a major win if I manage to mop the floors in this massive house, only to end up crying in bed at night because my spine is throbbing . Then, of course, there's my "wonderful" husband, who decides to call me fat under his breath, and then goes on to tell me how some other pregnant woman in the waiting room at the OB-GYN (who I didn't even see) looked so fit and slim, like she only had a little bump instead of me waddling around like a penguin. And he said all this right in front of my mother. How am I supposed to be okay with that?!
Honestly, screw them all! :2up: I know I've gained weight, and that is my business to deal with. The same goes for whether the baby turns out to be high-strung because apparently, I get "too stressed" during pregnancy. If the kid ends up being difficult, that's on me. :2up: It's my problem, not theirs. They aren't the ones raising this child, I am!
🙂 tina, it won't be 🙂 that's just old wives' tales, much like those myths about how the position of the placenta determines the baby's gender.
We are all talking about this here you 🙂 So what if things didn't go your way? Who actually cares? Look, we’ve been there too... and well, what can you do? 🙂 We'll have the baby and we're going to love that baby, period. 😍
Man, this just reminded me of something that happened a few years back.. It was another one of those situations involving a subway car and a pregnant woman. There was this lady with a massive baby bump who stepped onto a train where every single seat was taken. She asked someone to give up their spot, but she unfortunately picked the wrong person. Instead of being helpful, he actually started yelling at her, acting like it was her fault for even being out in the city if she couldn't manage. Luckily, five other people jumped up right away to offer her a seat.. I can still picture exactly where it happened, too.🙂 It was over by El Paso, near MIT.🙂 At that time, I wasn't really as sympathetic toward pregnant women as I am now—my own pregnancy wasn't even on my radar yet—so seeing that guy act like such a jerk just felt absolutely terrible.

But man, I've told myself a thousand times already (completely separate from any pregnancy stuff) that I seriously need to change this for my own sake.

I can't help but think he’s an absolute idiot—isn't it true there's some kind of bad karma for being rude to a pregnant woman?
My mind was racing with all sorts of thoughts; he's a man, so of course he doesn't get it, but did he even stop to consider what his own mother went through during her pregnancy? God... And then there's the nerve of him suggesting that even if I wasn't pregnant, I'm just some irresponsible kid. Why is he even sticking his nose in my business? He just sits there.
Jeremy Thomas5 said:Honestly, I was just completely overwhelmed; I felt more like breaking down in tears than getting into an argument. 🙂
I'm exactly the same way. Afterward, my mind just starts racing with all the things I could have said. But in that moment? I was just standing there in total disbelief. At least I didn't burst into tears.👍
Look, I’m young, and I certainly look the part. And yeah, there’s no way anyone could have seen anything under my jacket, but that’s not even the point... That woman had absolutely no intention of sitting down; she hopped off the bus after just two stops. The real issue here is that some random person—literally anyone else—decided to stand right next to us just so they’d have something to comment on. She wasn't being subtle, either. She didn't target me specifically; it was just some old geezer looking for trouble.

James Anderson8 said:It honestly drives me absolutely insane whenever I stumble upon threads debating whether "positioning during intercourse determines the baby's sex" or any other ridiculous variation of the "how to influence gender" myth. Helloooouuu, there is absolutely nothing involved in this equation except for the sperm! Was it an X or a Y chromosome that won the race? Honestly, someone needs to go back to elementary school biology class and stay there!
There, I had to get that off my chest... 🙄

Sean Long4 said:Why does this bother anyone? I honestly don't get it...
I mean, it's not like I'm walking down the street and letting just any random stranger come up and hug me... It’s usually people who actually matter to me in the grand scheme of things. I really don't see why that would be an issue for me.
I'm not entirely sure why, but it does. Up until now, I've read people complaining about it here, but I hadn't really felt it myself until recently. And since I've experienced it firsthand, I can tell you, it's a total joke.
Hey Nata, maybe your little guy is just too small, so you haven't quite felt the urge to nitpick yet...?! 🤷
On another note: I was riding the light rail yesterday. It’s getting harder for me to stand for long periods, so I sat down. (This was later in the evening after finishing up at work, running some errands downtown, and hitting the grocery store for a few things for the house). I deal with low blood pressure, so cramped spaces and standing for too long really take a toll on me.
So, I hop on the train. It wasn't packed, but there was only one open seat—and it happened to be one of those priority seats reserved for people with disabilities. Naturally, I took it. There was an older gentleman sitting directly across from me using a cane, but he was already seated. (He had been there before I boarded, so I wasn't taking a spot away from him.) Then, a woman in her 50s comes on and stands right next to us. Suddenly, the old man with the cane turns to her and asks, "Ma'am, would you perhaps like to sit down?" Honestly, I was thinking, *WTF? Is he picking on me?* The woman just says, "No, thank you." Then he goes, "Well, I suppose I have to be the one to ask when the younger generation won't... I can certainly take the priority seat while you stand there." 😠 I just stared at him in total shock and disbelief. 😲 My mind started racing: first of all, why wouldn't he just take the priority seat himself if he's making such a big deal about the right to use it? I looked him straight in the eye and asked, "Would you like to sit here?" He told me, "No." 😕 I then asked the woman if she wanted to sit, and she said no. Look, I needed to sit. I couldn't stand, and since I was wearing a heavy coat, nobody could even tell I was pregnant. But that old man completely blindsided me. Later on, he even muttered to the woman, "It seems the young lady is unwell..." The sheer audacity of that man! 😠 😠
I used to always tell myself how lucky I was that nobody ever felt the urge to poke at my stomach. But... clearly, it just wasn't big enough yet. Now that it’s actually grown, everyone seems to think they have a right to touch it. It's honestly such a nightmare.🙂
Adam Evans62 said:I had a total meltdown today for absolutely no reason when I opened the junk drawer in the living room unit. 🙂 It was just a massive mess of computer cables, phone chargers, camera cords... God knows what else we haven't touched in years. 😠 I tried to organize it, but honestly, I ended up tossing almost everything except the camera cable, the digital camera, and some phone chargers.
I open the next drawer 😲—and there are literally 54 PC Gamer magazines that MM dutifully buys and reads year after year. He reads them once and then just stuffs them in a drawer because apparently tech never advances and he needs them 🙄. I tossed 51 of them. Kept only this year's issues.
In the last drawer, there were about a hundred CDs and DVDs of games from the prehistoric era (probably for the Amiga and Atari 😛). He guards them like gold even though he’s constantly downloading and buying new stuff! I threw them all out except one!
Then MM gets home. Asks what I did all day. I told him straight: cleaning and organizing. He says "okay." I ask if he wants to see what I did. He goes, "Nah, no time, gotta sleep then hit the gym..." So I just smiled and said, have fun!
He's gonna lose it when he sees what I did. ...🙂 and 🙂
Merry, you have my full support until the very last bug is squashed and the final game is tossed out the window! I absolutely loathe clutter and useless junk. Most people probably won't even notice those little things are gone. A few others might notice, though. 😳 And then who knows what happens next. But honestly, I bet that felt like a great way to blow off some steam and clear your head. 👍 Good for you! 🙂
Jesse Evans85 said:That is exactly it! It feels silly to say I hate that he’s going out while I’m stuck here—I want him to enjoy himself—but there are moments where I just feel left behind. For instance, Guns was the very first band I ever listened to, and seeing them live has been a lifelong dream. Then, naturally, a few days before the concert, I start bleeding, end up staying home, and my husband goes without me. 😢 I spent the entire evening crying my eyes out, ordered a pizza and some pancakes, and basically just ate my feelings while weeping. At the same time, it would have been ridiculous for him to skip it and waste the tickets; I was actually the one who told him to go, but... well, I wanted to be there too. *Sniff.* I trust that eventually, this won't feel like such a big deal, but in that moment, it really stung. It felt a lot like what happened last Friday when I wrote that other post.
Ultimately, I just want to say that even though this baby was deeply wanted (it really was!) and I am genuinely happy about it—I still have interests and a life outside of being a mother and everything revolving around a newborn. Because of those things, I’m being sidelined quite a bit, and I know that’s going to continue for a while. Sometimes I don't even think twice about it, but other times, it really gets to me.
signing off... I don't want to sound like the bad guy, making it seem like he "isn't allowed" out just because I'm staying in too... but yeah, here I am, staying home with some pizza and pancakes (which honestly isn't even a bad way to spend an evening 🤣 ) but it's still not quite the same.
If it helps at all, I totally get where you're coming from 🙂
I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate pregnancy, but yeah, I definitely feel like I’m getting the short end of the stick compared to my wife, and honestly, it's starting to get under my skin.
Jesse Evans85 said:Right now, it feels like my husband's life hasn't changed one bit because of this pregnancy, while mine has been completely turned upside down. I spend about 90% of my day stuck at home. For instance, he finished work today, grabbed dinner, and headed straight out to a concert with his buddies. Meanwhile, I can’t even step foot outside because a simple walk leaves me totally winded. I can't grab a drink at a bar, I can't go to concerts without worrying about someone bumping into me, and so on. It’s hard knowing that this is just how it is for a while—no matter how supportive he tries to be, he’ll always have a level of freedom that I simply don't have right now. God, I would give anything to just get outnnnnnnn, dress up, have some fun... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa—total crisis mode.😢
😢 🙂 🙂 I've been feeling something very similar lately.. And then everyone tells you, "Oh, come on, having a baby is such a blessing, it's worth every single sacrifice." Maybe I'm just being cynical, but honestly, I don't think it's worth every sacrifice. 😢 😢
Hey there, everyone It’s not just my one little 😂 I don't really care if he wants some peace and quiet or what other people have to say, but having them standing right in front of me? That's just too much for me to handle. 👎
On another note: I absolutely cannot stand getting unsolicited advice from women who have never actually been pregnant yet act like they know exactly what I'm going through. They want to lecture me on whether I'm nauseous, when I'm throwing up, how tired I am, how hard pregnancy is, how exhausting it is to have a baby, or how I'll never get anything else done in my life... honestly, give me a break. :2up: Maybe once you're actually in my shoes, then you can start acting like an expert on my situation and my pregnancy.
It honestly drives me crazy because he just isn't being supportive at all.
I suppose I’ve just become a bore to him; he thinks I’m completely obsessed since all I ever talk about is this pregnancy... and then he just shuts down and refuses to listen.🤷 Then, my friend drops by—someone who also knows absolutely nothing about babies or parenting—and she throws out some random comment. It doesn't even matter what it is. Maybe it's actually decent advice, but he hangs on her every word like it's the most fascinating thing he's ever heard.😠 I swear, I'd love to just kick them both out of the house.🙂 The whole situation is just so frustrating...
Anthony Watson35 said:Brenda Bishop2, I feel you. I’ve been watching this show lately, and man—my guy is already getting under my skin. It’s not even that he’s wrong about strollers, it’s just that he doesn't have a single clue about anything. So, the other day, he runs into an old elementary school friend he hasn't seen in like 20 years. They’re catching up, she happens to have a stroller and another baby with her, and she mentions how the Peg Perego was a bit too narrow for her kid. God knows what the woman actually said or which specific model or age group she was talking about 🙄 . Then yesterday, I bring up Peg Perego, and he goes, "Not that one." 😠 Like, seriously? Get outta here. You don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't seen it, you haven't lived it... It drives me nuts when I hear something that stupid—he doesn't know the details, doesn't know who said it, yet he clings to it like his life depends on it . I'll just find what I want and buy it myself. Who's even listening to him? 😳
Man, it sounds like you're describing me. Whenever I hear some random bit of info, whether it's actually true or just total garbage, I treat it like it's the absolute Bible. I can listen to someone repeat other things to me a hundred times, but it’ll just go in one ear and straight out the other. 😳 I'm honestly starting to think about hiring someone just to feed my head all the stuff that actually makes sense to me. 🤣
