Brenda Bishop2 said:Ugh, I am just so incredibly frustrated with my husband right now... I’m four months pregnant, and all I wanted to do was sit down with him and just browse through some catalogs for strollers, car seats, and all that baby gear—just to get an idea of what looks cute and, more importantly, what the price tags actually look like. You know, just to start planning! But he won't even listen to a word I say... He keeps insisting it's way too early to even think about it. Like, seriously? It’s not like I’m trying to rush out and buy everything tomorrow morning! I just want us to see what we like so we can figure out how much we need to set aside, especially since he's the one bringing home the paycheck right now. But no, according to him, looking at it is "too early"... Honestly, it’s driving me up the wall, and my blood pressure is through the roof because of this constant back-and-forth. And then, if I decide to pick something out myself, suddenly it’s a problem—either it isn't his style, or it's "way too expensive," or there are a hundred other excuses. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I could honestly just burst into tears right now.

I completely understand where you're coming from, and I am so sorry you're dealing with this... 🙂
I honestly have no idea how to get him motivated enough to finally pick out a Peg Perego stroller.🤷

I am actually dealing with a very similar headache regarding my own parents... they aren't fond of the name Matthew for my son.. apparently, they worry about how people will pronounce that 'w' at the end.. they claim it sounds silly when I call out, "Come here, Matt-hew," while I argue that it's much more sensible to just go with Peter, Mario, Dario, Philip, or any other classic choice.. so, I told them plainly—if they can't get behind it, they don't have to call him, and they have four and a half months to get used to it.. well, they called me a few days ago to say the name is actually fine after all, but then they started questioning Thomas... I mean, seriously!! 🙂

I suppose it’s actually alright (if you want to think about it that way).
ALI What are your thoughts on Tomislav? 🤣

Adam Evans62 said:I am losing my mind over this name! 😠

I have no idea why some of my relatives think it sounds Canadian—clearly, geography isn't their strong suit since they don't realize the Mississippi River is just a border between us and Canada 🙄

Like I said, I'm not changing it for anyone unless my husband turns out to be a brave enough man to actually hold my hand during labor (yeah, right—not happening)😛

I actually had my favorite girl's name "saved up" for years, waiting to give it to my little girl, my sweet 😍-Lola (we got her because I fell into a deep depression after being told we couldn't conceive naturally, so I gave the name to her immediately, and honestly, she feels like my actual child 😁)
Then I spent months trying to come up with a replacement and fell in love with UNA.

Best advice ever: don't tell a soul what the name is until the baby is born 👍

Merry, I’m siding with the Mississippi River (though, honestly, who asked me?) 😉 )
So, even though I know how much you want your sweetheart to be right there by your side during delivery, if he can't make it, just remember that you'll at least have the little one to hold!

Here’s my situation: every single person I’ve mentioned this baby name to has absolutely loved it. It seems like everyone is on board. I guess I’m just lucky that I didn't get roasted by everyone I know! 🙂
I'm completely stuck on a name for my little boy... any suggestions?
Michael Hernandez50, you're only thirteen weeks along. If you’re feeling up to it, don't feel like you need to go out and push yourself too hard for no reason. Just move around as much as you feel comfortable with—that’s perfectly fine. I’ll say it again: as long as you’re feeling good, just listen to your body.

Michael Hernandez50 said:I’m officially at 13 weeks and 2 days today...
I see you all are debating names... and honestly, the older women in my life have started hounding me too, and once I finally throw out a name they choose, the reactions are just hideous: "What kind of name is that? That's so tacky," or "Oh, don't even bother, I actually know someone with that name..." and before I know it, they've turned that perfectly good name into some ridiculous nickname...
Then comes the gender guessing games: "Well, what are you wearing?" or "What do you *think* you're carrying?" followed by "What's your gut feeling?" or "It could be a boy, but it might be a girl because you have such a certain look about you" (which is usually just their way of commenting on how much weight I've gained around my hips)...
And then the comments start about how I'm still way too thin—even though my doctor tells me I'm doing perfectly fine and there is absolutely nothing to worry about—and how I'm clearly not eating enough...
And why on earth am I not allowed to wash the windows?! Am I forbidden from even lifting my arms above my head? I can't vacuum, I can't mop the floors... I'm not even allowed to walk up the stairs normally, I have to waddle around like an absolute idiot... it's just exhausting...🙂

And she just might. Honestly, there's a fifty-fifty chance that it might actually happen.
🙂
Perhaps not.
Which option is actually better? When are you going to reveal the gender...
When will this happen, how will that work...
Just leave me alone and mind your own business!
@Adam Evans62, I honestly think the United Nations is such a beautiful name (much better than something like Fran).
What is it about that name that bothers people in your circle so much? 🤷
I’ve already shared my thoughts regarding nutrition here.

It's the same story with sleep. If I could just catch up on some rest now to prepare for later, I’d take advantage of that anytime—not just because I'm pregnant...

And thirdly: I find it incredibly grating when people who don't have kids themselves start lecturing me by saying, "Oh, it's going to be so hard," or "You'll be so exhausted," and all that other nonsense. 👎
Honestly, I just don't get people who constantly push meat onto vegetarians.
What is their actual problem?

(Look, I eat pretty much everything, but I have a few friends who don't touch meat—and even an acquaintance who's vegan and doesn't do dairy either. It never even crosses my mind to lecture them on what to eat, and I certainly wouldn't want them doing the same to me...)
micek, Mary, and everyone else, I actually reached out to the moderator to see if they could restore the thread, but I haven't heard a peep back.
If you all feel up to it, you can keep pushing and pleading, and who knows—maybe they'll finally give in.

As for me, I've decided to just stay quiet and keep a low profile out of pure sadness, mostly because I’m terrified of getting banned.😢 🤣
I have to say, I was quite irritated to see them lock the thread regarding summer babies! 😠
John Baker5 said:It honestly bugs me seeing all these stories online about how other pregnant women get priority everywhere—people cutting in line for them, giving up their seats on the bus, or even market vendors tossing in extra fruit for their little ones.
I haven't had any of that happen to me yet, though I can already see the exhaustion coming 🤷. Even at the grocery store, people always seem to push right in front of me, probably because I come across as too timid. I think it’s just part of living here in this hot Southern climate and dealing with this specific local attitude.🙄

Oh man! You totally let a positive topic get under your skin! My bad! 😢
"That sounds great." Good luck with your aunt—your mom's side. 😳 Hang in there.
Linda Ward312 said:So my mom’s aunt, who doesn't even live in the States, just dropped a bomb on me today saying she already booked her flight to come see the baby—literally the day before my due date!!! 😲 😲😠
I mean, wtf, what does she actually expect? Like, am I supposed to be playing hostess while I'm totally wrecked and exhausted from giving birth???
For the first month, I’m really just looking forward to having my own mom and dad over to help out, and honestly, nobody else!
What is wrong with people? And the worst part is I can't even uninvite her now because she's already bought the ticket 😠
The whole plan was that she’d fly in for the christening we’re planning for maybe three or four months down the road, but now this! 😠

Mom's aunt... wait, no... she's not your aunt, or even the baby's😕 aunt, she's Mom's... wtf...
and Linda, I'm sorry, I really hope she doesn't end up being too much of a handful for you. 😢
@sunashce
Yeah, everyone—from celebrities to total strangers—gets so swept up in the excitement. Honestly, I feel like people should just focus on creating their own happiness instead of relying on others to carry them. It feels like everyone is constantly hugging me, kissing me, crying, laughing, and celebrating... everyone thinks it's this incredible experience, but it isn't really all that great when we are actually feeling so incredibly stressed out. 😬
Ashley Price57 said:My dad is constantly lecturing me about my portions. My mom is doing the exact same thing. Honestly, it’s getting so repetitive that I can practically predict it the second they open their mouths. Then, my husband comes home around 10 p.m. and hands me a slice of cake 😬 And I’m just like, "Oh, you don't want me eating this!" But then the guilt hits me hard. Every single bite feels like a chore because I start questioning if I should even be having it. What’s most frustrating is that I’m eating normally, so I don't get what all the fuss is about. I mean, for heaven's sake, I'm pregnant—it's impossible not to put on a few pounds! I know they mean well, but in those moments when they harp on me, I feel like an elephant. Then I'll open my closet, catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and just burst into tears. They keep telling me how difficult labor is for larger women, or how hard it will be to lose the weight later—all the stuff I already know, which is exactly why I'm supposed to WATCH what and how much I eat.. Ugh 😢

Most people know by now that I'm expecting. And they won't stop staring at my belly, judging me. It's like they're constantly measuring me with their eyes. No matter who I'm talking to or what the topic is, their gaze just drifts to my stomach like I'm under a microscope. I find myself wondering, "Did I really get too big? Is that why everyone is commenting on it?" 😬 I'm becoming obsessed. I honestly can't wait until I've fully rounded out so I can just shove it right in their faces and let them stare all they want.

Last night, my husband told me he was going to kill himself! 😬 He said it in such a sweet, gentle tone that we actually ended up laughing.. 😬 He said that after I had spent half an hour venting, screaming, crying, throwing things, and nearly breaking everything in the dishwasher. Once I finally curled up and sat down next to him, he whispered it while holding me. So romantic 😍

It’s actually quite comforting to see that I'm not the only one dealing with mood swings. Then my friend tells me... "Just wait until the baby is born, that's when the real storm hits!!!!" 😂 😬

Trust me, you aren't alone.
It honestly brings me a sense of relief to see that others are going through the same thing.

People don't ever tell me that I eat too much; instead, everyone is constantly questioning whether I'm eating enough. It’s incredibly grating.
It’s the exact same story when it comes to names or gender—people acting like it's a crisis because they haven't decided yet if it'll be a boy or a girl. Well, we don't know yet. Big deal.
It really gets under my skin when I feel like I haven't even hit the halfway mark yet, yet everyone treats me like I’m some completely incompetent invalid.
Are you doing okay? Have you eaten anything? And if so, what did you have?
Sure, they can see it, but it doesn't matter to them. They’re just going to take advantage of the situation while he’s still around.
He’s acting out of line... so what? Since when was that ever his concern?

Honestly, I feel like I’ve been plugged directly into a high-voltage outlet. Everything is just flying everywhere. Whether I try to put my hair in a blowout style or just leave it straight, it's total chaos...
It’s always the hormones' fault, isn't it? 👎
If they're supposedly so "smart" that they can pinpoint exactly how much these hormones are driving everything, then why on earth would they let them run wild in the first place? 😢
(I mean, my partner is the exact same way, so...)
analogviper2 said:I’ve got a question for the group... I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or call out any specific marriages here, I just want to hear some perspectives:

If you can't even get on the same page about the small stuff—like who’s handling the cooking, the laundry, or the grocery runs—how on earth do you and your partner actually tackle real problems or make decisions about the big, life-altering things?

Someone please weigh in...

Look, we get into arguments over those exact same kinds of nonsense—doing the dishes, cleaning up, things like that. I know I can get pretty heated with him, and then he’ll just be sitting there snacking on some Reese's or playing a video game like yours do; they're all cut from the same cloth... 😉
The thing is, when it comes down to the IMPORTANT matters, we both become more serious, calmer, and more responsible. I suppose we just feel the weight of it? Generally speaking, the bigger the issue, the more seriously we approach it and somehow find a way through.
Unfortunately, we're always going to bicker over the small stuff. I guess it serves as some kind of pressure valve. It doesn't feel good when we fight, but we always make up in the end, and the love is still there.
It honestly drives me crazy when people constantly ask if I’m "doing okay," as if being pregnant is some kind of debilitating illness rather than just life. On top of that, everyone seems to think my boyfriend and I are suddenly obligated to rush down the aisle just because there's a baby on the way.

And then there's him. It's so frustrating because whenever I do something he doesn't like, he immediately brushes it off by blaming it on my pregnancy or my hormones.😳

So, yeah, 😉
