Well fine then, go ahead and listen to Nirvana instead. 🤷
Honestly, just one Sonic Youth track carries more weight than this entire year's lineup combined. ☕
Hey there, Adam Moore! 😁

Alright, let's reset and start from square one:

I put FF in the "bad albums" category (or "bad current third album," if you want to be technical) because emphasizing their recent work felt more important than just saying they're current. I wanted a solid counterargument for why the festival turnout wasn't higher.

As for Art Brut, YYY, and Moby, I grouped them under "current" since they are. Honestly, I can't really judge their albums because I haven't listened to them, and they don't really fit into any other genre categories here—unlike Rokia. 😁

To be totally honest, I have no clue who N.E.R.D. or Pharrell actually are, and frankly, I don't care much. From what I've gathered on this forum, they're just some rappers. 👍
It's great that they're prolific, but being busy isn't enough to make people flock to festivals just for them.
Or do you actually think they're more popular than Depeche Mode? 🤷
The main thing is that he dropped an album last year and has a brand new one coming out in just three days. What would you even use as a metric for how "current" someone is?
I didn't say he was any more actually relevant than Franz or anything, nor that they were less relevant 😉

Wait, N.E.R.D.?
hollowseal33, girlaj, you aren't heading to Lollapalooza watching Placebo 🙂

Man, when they played in Vienna, it was easily the concert of the year for me. I was absolutely over the moon—total butterflies and everything.
They were okay when they hit Chicago, I guess.
But honestly? I'm getting pretty bored of seeing them at festivals like Lollapalooza.
And then last year in New York City, I was basically just counting down the minutes until I could escape the show after hearing those new dub-disco tracks. Just awful.

I don't know, their live shows are starting to feel so repetitive. Even the way they stomp their feet is always the exact same, and they always have to end with "This Fire," which drives me absolutely crazy. 🙄

🤷
But look, Moose actually has a band—and a killer one at that. So, technically, he’s got two bands going 👍

Go ahead and roast me if you want, but I don't even have a band and I'm still heading out to Lollapalooza watching Placebo 😉
restlessranger30 said:But honestly, 🙂
if you haven't heard a single one of their songs before this show, I totally get it. Even for me—and I love them—they felt a bit forced at times. It's even easier to understand for those of you who don't follow them at all.

Oh, I definitely have. I actually have "The Back Room" at home; I bought it online right when it dropped because I got caught up in the hype.🙄 😁
That said, they lean way too hard into that Joy Division vibe for my taste. And I’m not even a die-hard fan myself—New Order is much more my style.😁

🙂
passé 😁
Wait, what exactly does "gay drama" mean as a genre? 😳 :neuka:
@ žednouhi: why is there so much hostility toward Depeche Mode? 🤷

I mean, look at the lineup. On one hand, you have a legendary band that tours every four years and stays incredibly consistent. On the other hand, you have:

a) Amy Winehouse, who seems to be the obsession of every thirteen-year-old girl
b) that absolute disaster that would make Ian Curtis turn in his grave
c) some reggae-rastafarian type that just doesn't fit this kind of lineup AT ALL
d) that rock act that’s only cool because they have a tech brand in their name
e) four guys with laptops
e) Franz Ferdinand, whose last album was basically a coma
f) some washed-up indie guy playing Motörhead covers
g) N.E.R.D—seriously?
h) a metal stage that probably won't even draw a decent crowd
i) an indie choir
j) overpriced burgers being treated like the highlight of the festival food

Sure, Art Brut, Moby, and YYY might be relevant right now, but personally, I can barely name one song from all three combined 😁
Honestly, I’d rather spend three days at a beach house in Miami than pay $150 to see these acts 😁
But I bet you don't have three T-Mobile pink baseball caps lying around, do you? 😬
Oh, I could definitely send you the schedule for the Winter Queen pageant 😁
Anyone interested in some gourmet sausages, a VIP jacket, and a little badge for a special little girl? 😁
Kevin Chavez3 said:As for the rest of that quote, I honestly think that concert and that performer were meant for girls like Barbara and her friends, not for some thirty-year-old fossil😉 like you. It's pretty pathetic trying to act tough against young girls just because you didn't enjoy the Liti Alen Quote🙏 🙏 🙏

Kevin Chavez3 said:Honestly, imitating someone else is just plain ridiculous. God help us...

and looks a bit like Phil Anselmo with buck teeth.

I only liked three metal bands and one punk band at the festival; my musical taste is clearly maturing perfectly.👍

slypanther5 said:It’s still a soulless festival that feels like some local county fair back in rural Ohio.

Kevin Chavez3 said:Yeah, and I suppose Ke$ha is going to step in and replace Michael Jackson next.🙏

hahaha, I am absolutely loving these comments 🙂 Lale, you're really on your game today 👍

I'm guessing there's going to be an argument at home later 😬
So, you didn't care for any of it, huh? 😬

Kevin Chavez3 said:THE FESTIVAL ITSELF—I was honestly shocked by how much dead concrete there was. Sure, it’s right by the ocean, but they managed to ruin every beautiful spot they could find. Honestly, even a sand dune looks better than this. 😕

But, if I have to weigh in, I'll say 😕 😕

Personally, I think the festival grounds are fantastic; that view of the water is just everything 🙂
and it isn't all just concrete—there's plenty of grass too 😁

And the ATP stage with that embankment setup is great (though, okay, after one day it starts smelling pretty gross because everyone ends up peeing right there 😬)

Vaselines... now that's something I'd actually want to see. I caught a Eugene Kelly solo set once and it was 👍

wanderingraven20 said:Regardless, I think the book was ahead of its time. Back then, it was one of the first major works globally on punk, and it did a great job mapping out the power dynamics. It also correctly predicted how vital bands would become, even when they only had an album or maybe two or three 🙂

Well, "ahead of its time"... 😉
To me, the book feels totally dated. Honestly, I suspect the only reason it ever got a reissue is because the publisher is owned by the author's son 😁

Female vs. male OB-GYNs: Any preferences? in Women's Health ·
I haven't seen any posts from larazg yet. I'll keep an eye out! kaže:
I wouldn't say this is strictly about clinical expertise alone. It’s also about how one woman views another—especially if that gynecologist has been through childbirth herself and brings that personal perspective to the table. But beyond that, we have to look at what the textbooks actually teach and what the medical statistics tell us.

I was feeling the exact same way right before my first appointment. I really wanted to see a female doctor—that was the whole reason I was looking for one in the first place. The way women view one another. So, I ended up booking an appointment at the Harni clinic. I actually really wanted to see Dr. Harni specifically, but her schedule was completely slammed, so they asked if I’d be open to seeing someone else. Since I wasn't in any particular rush, I figured, why not? I went ahead and scheduled with Dr. Gudelj instead. At the time, I was still a virgin, and this was going to be my very first gynecological exam. I made sure to note everything clearly on the intake forms and mentioned it directly to the doctor as well. But even after I explained that, the technician insisted on performing a vaginal ultrasound. 😲 Even when I let out a little cry from the pain while she was trying to insert the tube, she just looked at me and said, "Come on, come on, it's smaller than any man's anatomy." 😲 🙄 And then she finally gave in and performed a rectal ultrasound on me. Honestly, I don't even want to get into how miserable I felt while the doctor was... well, you know. Woman. She used to say something exactly like that. 🙄

Mostly, after everything that happened, I decided to switch over to Harni. I’ve been seeing her ever since, and honestly, she is absolutely wonderful. She gets my highest recommendation! 👍 Honestly, if I ran into that woman in the hallway, I wouldn't even give her a nod. 😁
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
Dana Miller2 said:I've noticed my cycle has been getting shorter lately. It's happening every 20 days now (from the first day of one period to the first day of the next). This has been going on for about 12 months.
While I wait for my gynecologist's results, does anyone know more about this?
I'm 30 years old, and I haven't changed my lifestyle at all. 🤷

It's called polymenorrhea—it isn't necessarily dangerous, though if the cycle drops below 20 days, ovulation might be skipped. Your doctor might suggest some light estrogen replacement therapy just to make sure you don't end up anemic from bleeding so frequently.

The most common culprit is our old friend, stress. 😁 🙂

Why does it even matter who confirmed their spot at Rock am Ring and who didn't?

Look, I’m just guessing. 🙂The thing is, with Rock am Ring happening just three days before Coachella, you have to look at how things work. That big agency booking the bands for Rock am Ring basically handles their entire regional distribution too. Most major festival gigs aren't just quick "fly in, fly out" appearances; it’s incredibly rare to land a band exclusively for a single festival. Usually, these acts are bought as part of a massive package deal.

The only June festivals featuring all three Coachella headliners—Franz Ferdinand, Kraftwerk, and Moby—are Lollapalooza and Rock am Ring, both sporting nearly identical line-ups. So, if I were to venture a guess based on that logic, the easiest thing to do would be to check their line-up and just hope for the best (or brace myself, depending on my mood).

The organizers behind those two festivals are actually part of a Hamburg-based agency that has zero connection to our neck of the woods. Plus, Lollapalooza is held up in Northern Germany, which isn't exactly a convenient hop for those artists to make.

Looking at this line-up, Die Ärzte are really the only ones catching my eye. 😁
