My mother is being a nightmare, help! in Psychology ·
So, how old are you actually? Honestly, I think you should move out as soon as possible.
🙂
But in all seriousness—something feels off here. You might be subconsciously blaming yourself for some of her bad life choices. You haven't mentioned your father or what the overall family dynamic looks like?

Look, regardless of everything else, you need to stand up to her. Even if it means getting into a heated argument—you have to be direct about what’s bothering you and back it up with real examples.

There are plenty of parents out there who take way too much control over their adult children—and that pattern just keeps going until the kids finally push back.

Stick to your guns when explaining yourself.

Are you staying anywhere else at the moment?

That’s exactly the catch—the people you find it hard to be firm with are the ones who affect you most, so their behavior matters more to you. That's why you really need to hold them accountable—based on what they actually deserve!

I was in a similar spot once—being softer toward someone because I genuinely cared—and they kind of took advantage of that... but honestly, you can only hide your pride for so long. Once it finally bubbled up, I let them have it and walked away, even though it wasn't easy.
Some people just demand way too much emotion from us while being totally incapable of treating us fairly—and when that happens, you just have to walk away.

And how am I supposed to know if it was a distraction? He told me. Whether he was lying or telling the truth is something we could debate endlessly, but how would I ever truly know? 🤷 Speaking plainly, it doesn't seem to add up. But if you look at what might be driving all this—complexes, ego, the need to prove something—then why couldn't it be true? There are plenty of reasons to believe him, but I won't dwell on that; it isn't the point. Besides, why would he lie about something like that? No... what's actually bothering me is this sense of rejection.

okay
If I were in your shoes, I’d try to find a balance between your online persona—where you're super blunt—and your real-life self, which is almost too reserved... there's just such a massive gap between the two.
If you brought a bit more of that Royal Jelly energy into your daily life, people wouldn't be able to walk all over you quite so easily. In a situation like this, you might have gotten a different reaction—one that wasn't based on feeling humiliated or dealing with nonsense. Just snap out of it and tell people where they stand; it would do wonders for your confidence, and others would see you aren't just some pushover they can treat however they want...

In any case, I think working on that would really help your self-esteem, which would eventually help with that feeling of rejection—you just wouldn't feel it as intensely.

What kind of way is that to treat someone from the local community? She was just trying to offer some advice—or maybe just check in to see what happened—and you basically snapped at her because she isn't one of those regulars who hangs out here constantly giving everyone pats on the back. Honestly, her main forum gives her plenty of experience with these kinds of topics anyway.🙂

And I think you might have misread the situation regarding him being in love with you—it just doesn't really square with the part about him feeling sorry for you and making fun of you... if he actually said that, you might want to wonder if it's all just a distraction.
Who has the best characterization? in Movies ·
Christian Bale as Trevor Reznik in The Machinist
I feel like it’s overkill to check every single movie online—it’s fine when I’m buying them myself, but usually, I can just stumble upon something interesting on my own. Back then, I never thought about pulling up the teletext just to grab a title to type into Google...
rustyscout34 said:It honestly bugs me when you get bad B-movie production paired with even worse acting, directing, or writing. Or just those uninspired remakes... when all that comes together, it’s the exact kind of movie I have zero interest in watching, so I usually just pass... most modern Hollywood horror flicks, rom-coms, Steven Seagal movies, and stuff like that are prime examples... yeah, I pretty much change the channel the second I see Leslie Nielsen on screen.

👍
I'm with you on this

plus, I've never really been a fan of Jean-Claude van Damme or Dolph Lundgren

I tend to be pretty skeptical about war movies or anything involving terrorism themes—though I do make exceptions here and there🤷
Honestly, I don't know how this just popped into my head—Hostel II (though, to be fair, neither of them really left a lasting impression on me)
So, just like the title says...
People usually say sequels are a total letdown—especially when they try to stretch a story out into a whole franchise...
But then you have those rare cases where the sequel actually manages to top the original...
So, what are your recommendations???

Personally, I think Crank: Speed 2 is 500 times better than the first one😍😍
(And I'm not just talking about the obvious choice, The Godfather Part II🤣)
Dog attack on a little girl in Law ·
I agree—it’s not really the dog or the owner's fault...

I mean, if Rottweilers are already known as bloodthirsty dogs, why would anyone let a child get near one—even if it's on a leash?

The blame lies with Grandma, or honestly, the parents for leaving a kid with someone who clearly isn't thinking straight.
