Robbed in the last round? How exactly did you even score a goal in that final match? How were you even playing against that team from a city like Osijek? The same team you lost 5:2 to just a few weeks earlier...
Championships are won in those small, gritty matches through sheer consistency... and San Francisco just didn't have that... Because if that last game hadn't been so pivotal... but that's the one everyone keeps obsessing over...
To be honest, I actually feel bad that you didn't take the title, purely because of the massive football fever that was sweeping through San Francisco at the time, and how much it would have boosted our national league if you had won... but you missed out because the play was just so lackluster during those final seven rounds.... you only picked up wins against the Los Angeles Dodgers and some underdog side... That isn't how you win a championship...
Yeah... but those little games you're bringing up, America definitely dropped plenty of them, and it’s more than suspicious looking back at that season. That's really the core of the issue when people talk about that year—they don't look at the whole grind, they just fixate entirely on that final match. Back then, we didn't have the internet or any way to just pull up a quick clip, so I can't exactly upload a montage of all those "small games" and the questionable ways America was losing them, you know? It always comes back to that last round. If the championship had been handled fairly, nobody would even be talking about that final game today...
I’ve always felt that movies with a real message behind them are so incredibly welcome... I finally sat down and watched it yesterday. It’s a deeply serious piece of filmmaking... and honestly, just really sad 😢
Such a fantastic movie... I actually watched this one and The Blind Side just a few days apart, and honestly, if you ask me, both deserved the Academy Award for Best Picture way more than The Hurt Locker did—but hey, I guess everyone’s entitled to their own opinion...
Even though we all know things aren't always perfect here in the States, I can't help but think that if it hadn't been for Nelson Mandela, things might be looking even worse today, and this was really just one small chapter of that whole incredible story... it was just so beautifully told by the legendary Clint Eastwood.

Man 🤣I really need to 🤣 🙏 make this my top priority to watch, I can't believe I missed out on this one earlier... 🙏
Caught it yesterday. It was actually pretty cool... something different from the usual stuff. It’s not even just about how the conflict escalates—though that feels grounded enough in reality—it’s more about the way they portray the neighborhood... it felt raw and brutally real. Especially when you think about it through the eyes of someone nearing the end of his life, looking back after everyone he ever knew is gone, and having to face the harsh truth of the city he calls home. We all have that one part of our own city where we swear, "I wouldn't live there if you paid me," a place that the police and the rest of society seem to just ignore... well, the movie hits that exact feeling right on the head. It’s a real breath of fresh air regarding those kinds of themes.
So, since it’s Francophonie Day, I noticed they're screening some French films this week at the Alamo Drafthouse... does anyone happen to have any more specifics on the lineup?
I finally sat down and watched it just a few days ago, and honestly, I’m still processing everything... what really stuck with me was the guy playing John Smith, because his performance was just absolutely killer, and then it hit me that it was actually Val Kilmer... I mean, truly incredible...
While I was watching, I didn't even realize it was him at first, you know? He’s just so transformative in this one, and if you ask me, he basically carried the entire movie on his shoulders...🙏🙏🙏

He even went after F1 legend Seb, who turned out to be a much bigger man by moving past it and showing him support during his last shot at glory. If Seb can forgive him, I don't see why you care so much about who was insulted when it wasn't even you. Maminho definitely said some stupid stuff, but hey, he expressed regret and is asking for forgiveness for those comments. I'm just one of those people who believes things can be fixed if you actually give someone a fair shake.
From what I recall, he had already been permanently banned once, so he actually *was* given a second chance, and well... he pretty much blew that one too, so I suppose that's that 🙂
Edward Howard2 said:It looks like the soccer crowd has teamed up to turn this thread into their own personal offside trap. They’re out here insulting people and spamming the board, all under the wing of one of the biggest trolls on the site—who also happens to be a moderator, Leonard Nimoy. Honestly, they’re clearly just trying to force a shutdown of this topic, so I figured the best move is to just lay out the facts and call it what it is...
12 regulars from the F1 subforum weighed in on Maminho’s status. 12 folks from the F1 section voted in favor of letting Maminho back into the Formula 1 discussions. That includes two moderators—one current and one former F1 mod—and both of them are backing the decision to keep Maminho banned.
Everyone else chiming in? Just people who don't care, people who wouldn't have any connection to Maminho even if he were unbanned, or those soccer fans who just drifted over here specifically to troll.
So, it’s safe to say Maminho has the absolute, 100% support of the entire F1 community, including the mods. Now, it’s totally up to the site admins to decide if they’ll let him back into the F1 subforum or not.
Oh, give me a break... seriously, who actually started this? Who was the first one to come flying in with links to posts that have absolutely nothing to do with what we're even talking about here? And who was the first person on this site to start picking fights and calling out other users? I really hope nobody starts bringing up those old, childish comments that got someone permanently banned in the first place, because if they do, then everyone else on this site is going to see exactly what kind of spammy behavior you guys are trying to defend... 🙏

Hold on a second now... is there actually some kind of "justification" for nationalism when you consider how people celebrate guys like Ante Pavelić and Slavko Kvaternik, or even those traitorous songs being blasted at friendly matches over at Santa Monica... or something along those lines... maybe it's just some sort of collective complex born from a nursery rhyme that San Francisco natives keep singing in stadiums all across America?

Drew Perez said:I’ve been looking back at the last four years—and you don't even have to stick just to this past year—but I was asking about those flare displays... you know, during those smaller games... and honestly, there's just nothing to show for it, right? Nothing at all...
Hell... I have such great memories tied to those guys... Back in '96, that train trip from Denmark down to Miami was easily the most alive I’ve ever felt on a rail line... There were about 15 of us crammed in that space near the restroom, and five of them were Hell... man, the constant, non-stop howling and laughing from them was just unreal... we had this Hajduk fan from N. Gradiška we practically rescued from freezing to death, some boys from Krapina who actually convinced themselves they were part of the conductor crew, some random guy who spent half the journey hiding in the bathroom before we even realized he was in there, my own group of friends, and the Hell crowd, all fueled by endless amounts of bamboo... honestly, it was pure 🙏🙏🙏🙏
🙏Sending love to the guys wherever they ended up 🙏

Well, I suppose it’s just one of those things where you have to wonder if it'll actually work out... if it's truly going to hit the mark or not... [Image Link]

But then you have people like you, who basically move away from some tiny, nowhere town and suddenly act like they're the most important person in the room... it's honestly kind of exhausting to watch...😂
No, now I’m genuinely curious... where exactly are you pulling those roots from that you take such massive pride in... come on, please tell me... 🙂
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP_YHCfmAww 🙏I was just sitting here thinking about how much things have changed lately, and then I stumbled upon this... 🙏it really makes you stop and wonder about everything, doesn't it? 🙏It’s one of those videos that stays with you, sort of lingering in the back of your mind while you're trying to focus on other things, and honestly, I can't quite shake the feeling that there's something deeper going on here than what we see on the surface... 🙏I mean, if you look closely at the way they present these ideas, it reminds me of those old documentaries we used to watch on PBS back in the day, where everything felt so much more intentional... 🙏anyway, I just wanted to share this because it felt important to bring up in a conversation like this one...
