Guys, do I seriously have to chug all that champagne during toasts, or can I just clink glasses and slide the flute back onto the tray? I rarely drink and alcohol absolutely wrecks me—so I'm thinking... you toast the maid of honor to settle the nerves, then there's the guests, then a sip when you enter the hall, then the family, plus that champagne I actually hate... I'm terrified I'll end up face-down, and what kind of wedding would that be? One tiny drink makes my legs go shaky, so if I have to keep toasting 🤣
Just dropping in because I was hanging out here about five months ago. Haven't touched the chasteberry tea in three months—but get this—zero period cramps. It’s honestly wild since, before, there was basically no way I could even go to a festival or leave the house without being stuck in bed in agony. Definitely grabbing more of the stuff next month to start back up again... it seriously works.
Elena, I’m with graniteridge6 on this one. Honestly, nothing beats just being spontaneous. My guy doesn't have a clue how to dance—seriously, zero rhythm—so why would I drag him to some formal classes? It's pointless. We were at this wedding recently and just vibed to a classic oldie, and it was honestly the best part of the night. Even if he's got "two left feet," he’s perfect to me. I’d much rather have him relaxed, smiling, and just swaying along than torture him with strict footwork.
I mean, people can do whatever they want, but spontaneity just feels better. 😍

I don't know how many invites you have on your plate, but honestly, it takes forever. It’s like trying to coordinate a massive group project; you spend so much time trying to sync up everyone's schedules, driving to see people, and having those quick little chats—it really eats up your time. We had 120 invitations total, and we still have about 15 left to deliver...
I've got like 70 families to visit personally—definitely think it's better to get it over with early, both for our sanity and for the guests, since not everyone knows about the wedding yet and they need time to prep.
Can someone give me some advice? The invitations are finally here—wedding and reception is set for October 26th—so tell me, how early did you guys start sending them out? I was thinking about diving in this Sunday and just knocking a few out every week to get it over with... is it too early to start calling people?

It's over in Ivan near Indianapolis. https://www.facebook.com/caffeslasti...tarina?fref=ts

We actually put down a deposit on Ivan's Estate in Dakota on 10/04/2014, so that date is officially off the table for anyone else!🙂We spent forever scouting out venues all over Dakota and Indianapolis, but honestly, that one just blew us away. We’re planning on about 300 guests, and they have those perfect round tables specifically set up for a crowd that size. I haven't actually attended a wedding there myself, but everything I’ve heard has been nothing but glowing reviews. As for the band, we already locked them in—we went with the Gentlemen, those musicians from Columbus, and everyone talks them up. They aren't your typical old-school band; they play absolutely everything, so I’m positive they’re going to put on an incredible show...😘
We've got our big day at Ivan's Castle this year! Huge shoutout to the owner, Mark, and his wife, May !!!!—the staff is seriously the best.

She absolutely is—in fact, I was just over at their shop today to finalize the dessert order for the wedding guests.🙂 I placed my order for the pastries at Catherine's Bakery & Cafe, though I'm thinking about heading over to Vigor for the cakes.
My dear sister who lives over there told me they were shut down... maybe they'll reopen once they deal with all this new tax stuff.
Paul Fisher34 said:Quick question for you guys... is it actually a thing for newlyweds to give gifts to their best man and maid of honor? Like, do they actually go out and buy them something? I’ve heard conflicting things about whether people still do this or if it’s just an old-school tradition that died out. Does anyone know if this is still a thing in the US nowadays???
So I actually asked my mother-in-law the other day—she basically said that nobody does that anymore.
dustytinker58 said:Quick question regarding all the flowers and decor used in the venue... what do you guys actually do with everything once the wedding reception wraps up? Do you take it all home to share with your inner circle—like if there are small bouquets or centerpieces that are easy to carry? Or maybe those candles that haven't even been lit yet?
At my old weddings, we’d usually just get all this floral decor from our relatives. For mine, I'm sticking mostly to martini glasses, little centerpieces, and water—mostly because I have zero clue what I'd even do with a mountain of flowers after the party ends.
Forgot to mention—I was over in Indianapolis visiting Nicole, and she’s where I picked out my wedding dress. It’s normally $4,500, but since $0.00 there’s a massive sale this year, I snagged it for $3,500. So, if anyone's looking to save a few bucks, go see Nicole. Just a heads up, the dress is still tagged—I'm wearing it for the first time in July, so it shouldn't be anything less than perfect by October. Pretty sure everyone is getting a discount at Nicole's right now.
Kevin Smith7 said:Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to pick up some adhesive tape? I was thinking it could serve as a little DIY fix for our hair accessories instead of using those bulky hair ties or pliers.
Also, does anyone know where one can find some affordable bracelets or wristbands? It would be a nice little gesture for the ladies. Just something simple and easy, nothing too fancy, I suppose.
I'll just grab a bracelet from the hallway,$0.67 just one, something with a little white flower on it—nothing crazy.
mellowridge7 said:Has anyone here ever handled dessert catering for a wedding? I’m trying to figure out if five pastries per guest is overkill—especially since everyone will be at the venue, and my plan is to pack some up to hand out the day after lunch. Honestly, baking isn't exactly my forte
We’re doing five pieces per person—so for 350 people, that’s 1,750 pieces. But we’re actually going to order 2,000 just because of how the catering works at the hall (it's pretty standard there) and to have leftovers for the day after. My brother got married last year and 2,000 was plenty for the reception, the guests, and the leftovers—we even had enough to give away!
Susan Carter11 said:Has anyone here actually used Claire’s bridal boutique over in Indianapolis?
I heard through the grapevine about Nicole that their recent stock has been pretty subpar—apparently, some of the dresses are already showing wear and tear, almost like they've been worn before. :-/...I honestly can't tell how much truth there is to that rumor.
Personally, I was super happy with Nicole in Columbus, but I've heard nothing but bad things about the Indianapolis spot...
urbanfox13 said:Oh, thank you so much!🙂 I'm definitely writing that down right now—I'll grab some and start drinking it daily. I'll be sure to report back on how it goes, obviously.🙂🙂
Wishing you the best! Hope it works for you too, because it’s honestly doing wonders for me. Just walked out of the CVS with another box of burdock tea—heading home to brew a cup right now! ☕
Henry Harris5 said:You can find some really cute little bottles for your homemade spirits at the farmers market in Indianapolis, right by the corner shops. They’re super affordable, too!
Ugh, true... might actually be worth hitting up a few flea markets in any major city. It’s usually a goldmine this time of year, especially with wedding season in full swing, right?
mellowridge7 said:While we're on the subject of bottles, does anyone know where I might find some stylish little flasks for the brandy I'm planning to put out at wedding receptions? Nobody seems to carry anything like Orange, and I'm completely stumped on what kind of vessels would work best for serving brandy.🤷
Like I said before, over at Russell (that farm supply store), they have all sorts of sizes and shapes—and they aren't even pricey. Honestly, if you have a buddy working as a bartender, he could probably just stash those Orange ones from his bar for you. A month ago, two friends of mine hit up two different bars and managed to snag 120 bottles... plenty for the reception and my place too.
