mellowridge7 said:Where did you pick up that pavilion in the Midwest? I’m looking for one too... ideally without spending a ton of cash.
Right at the very end of the new corridor—you know, by those shops selling rugs, stoves, and all that bulk stuff
loneridge93 said:Must be nice for you guys... mine is 124 miles too far away from me 😢
Man... why's it so far though? lol
What's up with you 😍
Wait, what? You’re seriously asking me to rewrite a blank prompt? Is this some kind of joke—or am I just losing my mind? Just give me something actual to work with next time... please. quietcobra52 says:
Probably just gonna grab some drinks at a discount spot—honestly, I only know about Bijeli—so who knows if the prices are actually any good?
Still gotta check everything else... I don't have any distance issues myself—my car gets me to the expensive spots in two minutes, one minute to the church, and then just two more to the gym. What's your excuse? 😁
Lucky bastards! Why not share some? 31 milesAnd that’s exactly why everything went sideways—total mess. Honestly, I'll be thrilled if we even manage to get a little further with the painting, but man... we're seriously running out of time.
Michelle Thomas77 said:I have a pretty good idea of the headcount since I only invited the local crew, and even then, it's about 80. Most of the out-of-towners won't head straight to the venue; they’ll swing by my place first... plus, my husband has a massive amount of close family nearby, so if they hit his place before mine, the numbers could really blow up.
My only real stress is making sure we don't run short on anything.
Look, I’m hardly an expert on this stuff either. I come from a massive family, and honestly? Sometimes they show up at the bride's place beforehand, and other times they just show up at the wedding and the reception. You never know. And in these small rural towns around here, the mentality is so weird—if you ask someone if they plan on stopping by my house, they look at you all confused, like I'm being rude or something? I just need a headcount! My groom's side lives quite a distance away, so maybe there'll be about 30 of them. His brother got married last year and the bride lived far away too, so not many people made the trip. What really trips me up is that almost none of our neighbors or even local friends will make it to the actual venue because of the drive—so they'll probably all just end up at my place instead.
Back again—today I’ve got a million questions 😁 Does anyone know where I can order those personalized coffee sweeteners with names and dates on them? And what's the damage on the price tag?
Michelle Thomas77 said:Probably around 100 to 150. I don't have an exact count yet—we're inviting about 300 people, but who knows how many will actually show up at the house?
I didn't see you mention that anywhere, though. Let me go dig through the threads again. 😁
From what I've seen, looking at how people act, there's never been more than 50—at least in my neck of the woods. I'm prepping for 80, so whatever happens, happens. I've always got this nagging fear that I'll run out of something.
Kevin Smith7 said:Does anyone happen to know where I might find some canopies or perhaps a white tent for rent to use in my backyard? Thanks!
Where are you located? That first hall we checked out does rentals—white ones, small or large, whatever you need—and I even reached out to some people on Facebook. Rental fees were around $167, so honestly, it ended up being way cheaper to just buy my own gazebos... at least then I actually own them, right? Or I could just rent them out to someone else later. We picked up a 6x3m gazebo in Mexico for $67, plus I’ve already got two 3x3m ones from when we grabbed some deals at Walmart before.
Michelle Thomas77 said:I couldn't find anything to rent, so I just ended up grabbing one at Target for $58 😉
As for Nicholas, I think that girl explained it perfectly... except Nicholas actually has two locations. The second one is just a quick drive from the Chase Bank branch—you just head straight down the road and you'll see a few grocery stores right there.
Anyway, I've got the main stuff sorted out for now.😉
Our classes at the cathedral start today... and honestly? Not really feeling it. :/
The one thing I still haven't figured out—and seriously, nobody seems to have an answer—is how much food, drinks, and cake I actually need for the housewarming party? I feel like I'm gonna lose my mind if I don't get this planned soon.🙂
Thanks. So, how many people are you planning to host? I already finished my list ages ago.
Michelle Harris27 said:Once you step off the train, just head straight ahead, and when you hit the traffic light at the intersection, turn left onto Republic Avenue right after you see the bank on your right. Then, just keep walking straight until you see Chase Bank on your left and that big, rusty monument sitting on your right...
Turn right toward the monument and keep going straight... the bridal shop is right there on the ground floor of the Super store on your left side.
Oh, wow!! totally helpful. thanks for the incredibly detailed breakdown 🙂
Hey Midwest folks!! Is everyone just giving up on marriage or what? 😍 How’s the wedding planning going?
We finally locked in a florist. Jaka from Ivanhoe—they're super good and actually affordable.
Also, can any experts out there (if they even exist) tell me where Nicholas's bridal salon is located in Indianapolis?
I don't know my way around Indianapolis at all—all I know is how to get from the train station to campus and over by Stuc 🙂 is it near there? I mean, if I'm coming from the train station, which way do I head to find the salon?
The American medical system is a total joke. About six months ago, I took a massive hit to the head—spinning rooms, puking, constant exhaustion, the whole nine yards. My doctor, who’s actually decent, immediately sent me for a brain CT scan (which meant driving all the way to 44 miles because they don't even have those locally, just X-rays). When I showed up for my appointment the next day, it was ridiculously early—not even 7 AM—because the bus schedule was such a mess. I walked into the waiting room thinking, "I'll just sit tight until 9 when they start working," since I was feeling pretty miserable and my head was pounding. Then this little rookie doctor walks up, asks why I'm there so early, and basically screams at me, "WE DON'T START UNTIL 9!!" I told him it didn't matter, I'd wait, since I'm still totally disoriented from the impact. And then—get this—this guy, dead serious, TEARS UP my CT referral and writes me an X-ray instead, acting like my doctor was being dramatic for wanting a CT for something potentially dangerous or whatever... blah blah blah. And guess what? Since I didn't pass out or lose my memory, his diagnosis is that I'm perfectly fine. Can you believe that? Of course, the X-ray shows nothing, because obviously, an X-ray can't see anything except a broken bone. And the kicker? I could've gotten that X-ray right here in town... so the whole trip was a waste. Fast forward to yesterday—I hit my head again and have a cut on my scalp, but honestly, going back to the doctor isn't even an option; I'm not about to let them mock or humiliate me again. I just iced the spot, and for now, it's just a minor sting. They seriously have no clue. And the worst part? When you show up in a few years with some permanent damage, they'll be like, "WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE?!!!" Ugh, I'd swear right now if I didn't have to keep it civil...
mellowranger16 said:I don't know, I've stopped tracking my basal ovulation or even bothering with the test strips lately.
So, how exactly does your period work? Is mine running late too? It’s never been like this before.
I know the second egg is free. Honestly, I’m feeling a little skeptical about that.
I used to think everything was so straightforward—like knowing ovulation always happens exactly fourteen days after conception, just like following a textbook rule. Now, even that basic certainty has slipped through my fingers. It’s funny how the things you once considered absolute facts end up feeling like total guesswork.
My cycles have been totally regular since I was fifteen—I'm 22 now—usually every 28 to 30 days. It’s definitely possible yours is running late because a cyst might be messing with your cycle.
Anyone know where I can snag some candlesticks out in the Midwest? Everything I've checked—Target, Walmart, you name it—only carries sets of maybe 10 max, but I need at least 30. Looking for something like this:

I can't seem to find a specific thread to jump into, so I'll just throw this out here.
A few months back, I went to see Ginić because my period was running late, and they found a clear cyst on my right ovary, about 2.5 cm. They didn't give me any specifics on what kind it was.
Since then, I've had a really light, scanty period, and now things are lagging again.
I’m planning on trying to conceive soon, and I'm stuck wondering how much this cyst actually interferes with everything. Does ovulation just carry on as usual regardless, or does a cyst like this act as a roadblock? Has anyone else dealt with something similar?
In my case, I've got a bunch of cysts on both ovaries, but I still ovulate. Guess it just varies from person to person. Even though my doctor told me I probably wasn't ovulating, I mentioned that I track my basal temperature and cervical mucus—once I said that, she suddenly told me there was nothing to worry about.
Right now I'm taking Vitex and hoping things look better by my next ultrasound.
Besides, if it's just one ovary with a cyst, the other one should be working fine—so I don't see it being an obstacle to getting pregnant. Actually, I'm planning to conceive too, and I'm not stressing it... especially since your situation sounds way more intense than mine.🙂
Michelle Thomas77 said:Yeah, that’s a whole different ballgame. 😉
Exactly. Everyone’s got their own way of doing things—and their own way of prepping... 🙂
Kimberly Alvarez8 said:Regarding the charcuterie situation... I actually hired a pro chef to consult at my place for when the inevitable happens, and he told me straight up: for a two-hour window, don't bother serving more than 20g per person—and that includes the meat, cheese, and any little salads. That’s how he’ll be laying out the buffet spread. Honestly, half the guests won't eat much anyway; some will just grab a bite, others will skip straight to dessert, and there's just not enough time for anyone to actually sit down for a full meal... they'll just end up feeling stuffed and uncomfortable.
Of course, we'll have some extra sliced stuff tucked away in the fridge just in case someone actually gets hungry...
Look, my guests are gonna be hanging out for three hours, traveling all the way from places like 31 miles, and they won't have lunch or anything else planned—no stopping by a buddy's house first. So, from around 2 or 3 PM until dinner at 9, that’s a solid six-hour stretch where people need food... which is why I'm going way heavier on the catering, because people are actually sitting down to eat here. I'm counting on 80 people, but it might even hit 100... I'll see once I send out the invites.
dustytinker58 said:I'm thinking the exact same thing... it sounds like overkill! Usually, when you're hosting, you plan enough food for every 8 guests, whether it's soup, a main course, or dessert... but hey, who's going to follow those strict rules? It's always better to have leftovers than to run out! Still, though, 25 platters sounds massive unless they're those tiny little appetizer trays...
Yeah, seemed like a lot to me too, but then my cousin who got married this past summer told me how little food she had for 100 guests, so I decided to just overdo it. It’ll get eaten 😁 Just so we don't run out.
Michelle Thomas77 said:That works if you're hosting at home.
Yeah, right—once they finally come to collect me...
Michelle Thomas77 said:Hey guys, quick question... how much cake, deli meat, and booze should I actually grab if I'm hosting a crowd at my place?
For my crowd—around 80 people—I’m grabbing 30 lbs of sweets, 25 pre-made deli platters from somewhere like Costco or Whole Foods, and just sticking to bourbon and cherry brandy for the booze. Probably looking at 25 bottles of bourbon and 15 of the cherry stuff. I did all the math based on the table count since I'm doing a seated dinner instead of a buffet... just figured out how much per table and called it a day. 😁
Kevin Smith7 said:Does anyone know where I might be able to find small glass bottles, maybe around 40ml, with cork stoppers for some homemade spirits? I’m really looking for something a bit more high-end than just repurposed juice bottles.
Thanks!
I just grabbed mine at Michael’s since I didn't need a ton of them.
