Tight-fitting shoes in Fashion ·
Hey everyone,

First off, sorry for the little off-topic detour here, but since we’ve got plenty of footwear enthusiasts on this board, I figured I should ask for some advice.

So, I have these light brown leather ankle boots from Kickers, and I went into Foot Locker (or whatever they call it now) to ask what the best way to maintain them would be—specifically so they wouldn't lose their color. They ended up giving me some beeswax.

I followed all the instructions to a T, but now my shoes aren't light anymore... they're practically black?
It's been a few hours, but the color isn't shifting back, and they just stay dark.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Is there any actual way to get the original color back on these shoes?

Sorry again for going off-topic, I'm just at a loss here and don't know what to do. Can I even fix this, or is it permanent?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give.

Thanks so much for the reply! I'll give them a wear tomorrow and we'll see how it goes.
A whole week of suffering because of these shoes.
First off, my better half buys me shoes from MASS where the sole literally falls apart after just one day (if anyone needs legal advice on how to get a refund for footwear, hit me up—I actually filed a report with the consumer protection agency against MASS, so I have all the inside info on shoe and clothing returns... seriously... you guys have a mountain of rights that the store won't admit to).
Honestly, even yesterday I wasn't sure about grabbing them; I had some thin-soled sneakers and they were fine, but man, wearing these with normal socks is anything but okay—they're way too tight. I'm used to comfortable gear, like how my Timberland boots feel just right... I should have just gone for those Timberlands instead, but I saw these and grabbed them... blah, clearly I'm losing it in my old age... I'm heading in the wrong direction! LOL.

Anyway, I saw someone on this thread mentioning treating them with chemicals and stuff, so I figured I wouldn't bring them in yet, lest they fall apart even more.
To be honest, I don't trust every single brand, but that's just how it goes when you find something you like and then end up acting like some woman (sorry ladies, no offense intended... just speaking from years of experience. Just kidding... kidding... 🙂).

Alright, I'm wearing the boots tomorrow, "come what may" (literally 🙂).

Oh, and the length is fine, but the toe box could definitely be a bit wider, though I'm hoping the cobbler can sort that out.

We reached out to my partner's mom since her dad was a cobbler, and even she says a good shoemaker can stretch them onto a mold to widen them by nearly a full size. That sounds perfect to me, so I really hope it works.

If this doesn't work, there will be a pair of brown Kickers ankle boots showing up at the "flea market," and even better, they'll be professionally repaired. LOL.

Thanks everyone... you know how it is, and it's extra stressful for me because I've never owned such "tight" shoes. They are a size 10, and if I went to an 11, they'd be massive on me.

Alright, I’m throwing this out there, so please bear with my rambling...

So, here's the deal. I picked up some shoes today, and they felt perfectly fine while I was still in the store because I was just wearing thin socks. But then I got home, tried them on with thicker socks, and now they are absolutely crushing my feet.

Is there any way a professional cobbler can fix this? I really don't want to mess around with any of those sketchy DIY hacks you see online... I'm definitely not the type of person who should be tinkering with things like this at home.

The length is actually fine, but the width... hmmm... yeah, not so much.

They're full leather, Kickers.
The bank is taking my entire paycheck... in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
My paycheck finally hit my account today, but everything’s been frozen because I fell behind on my credit payments... I checked my balance and the money is sitting there at Chase, but I can't touch a single cent. They told me I need to deal with the IRS. Does the government take one-third of my wages, or is it more than that? If they just grab a third, I guess I can live with it... but if it's more, then we have a serious problem. What am I supposed to do now... does anyone actually have the facts on this? The whole mess started because I wasn't making regular payments... though now that I actually have steady income again after being broke for an entire year, things should be different. How much are they going to snatch from me in the end, and is there any way to fix this quickly?

Thanks in advance for any help!

No offense intended... but it's garbage.

My advice... just stay far away from Biotech whenever you can. ☕

Bryan Wilson81 said:In the morning, you’re better off sticking to oatmeal and raisins or something similar... because the body actually needs those sugars first thing up. During the night, the body is busy rebuilding itself—it isn't burning through fuel—so you shouldn't be hitting the sugars right before bed. Instead, stick to proteins and high-quality fats at night. Since you're resting, you aren't exerting energy. Fast-acting proteins make sense immediately after a workout, but taking them in the morning? That's just throwing money away. Of course, you can use whey whenever you want, but you'll see the most benefit if you follow my approach.

Look, I'm not saying what you said is wrong, but I strongly disagree with the idea that the body doesn't need whey in the morning.
And honestly, anyone who actually pays attention to their nutrition and knows what they're doing is going to have some decent casein before they hit the hay.
But hey, everyone can drink their whey however they please... I'm just offering some well-meaning advice that I picked up about 12 years ago when I first started hitting the gym... and I think in those 12 years, I've learned a fair amount about nutrition and training itself. 😉
Then again, fitness is one of those things that evolves every single day... new supplements come out (higher quality ones), new training methods emerge, new research is published... it's a discipline you literally have to study for your entire life (assuming you even care about that sort of thing).
Also, don't go wasting your hard-earned cash on supplements that are completely useless... read the ingredient labels very carefully before you buy anything. 👍

Bryan Wilson81 said:whey in the morning just doesn't do anything.

What makes you say that? Your body is basically rebuilding itself while you sleep, so when you wake up, you need a specific type of protein... honestly, just mixing some whey into your oatmeal is usually enough to quickly replenish everything you lost overnight.

In the morning, or right after a workout, go for some kind of "fast-acting" whey (like Ultra Whey Pro or ISO Sensation... depends on what specific protein profile you're looking for, your budget, and which brands you actually "prefer"), but before bed, you absolutely need a casein like Milk & Egg (the taste isn't great, but IMHO it’s far and away the best value casein you can get) because it works slowly over time, unlike something like ISO Sensation (which is a solid protein, by the way).

I honestly don't think they grasp that Forum.hr is their own little playground, and everything here operates under its own set of rules... just like any other forum out there.
If most people acted like that on *************, they would have been slapped with a permanent ban ages ago, so the moderators here are actually being quite fair and showing a decent amount of patience.
On the flip side, over at *********, you have a crowd that actually understands how a forum works, so the mods don't have nearly as much work to do... because everyone knows the proper way to behave.

Windows 7 in Software ·
So.....to me, this Windows Vista feels just like Windows ME....IMHO.
I used it for a little while (maybe 3-4 months) before I crawled back to Windows XP, which actually works the way it's supposed to... well, as much as any OS can these days.
I haven't found anything in there that isn't already in XP that I actually need... or at least nothing that was implemented better than it was in XP. There are some useful bits here and there, but honestly, most of it is just eye candy (and please, don't let some smart-aleck come along and lecture me about how I don't know how to configure the OS myself or how to disable all the unnecessary junk.......of which there is far too much in Windows Vista).
I don't really care about the aesthetics anyway; what matters to me is the actual functionality of the OS, and I truly hope that Windows will eventually work even remotely as well as OS X.
As for the 64-bit version, I can't say anything because I don't own it, nor have I tried it.....not that I see any particular reason to bother. All that hype about viruses and other nonsense is just stupid, because nowadays the only person who could catch a virus is my younger brother, who spends all his time on the web looking at... well, certain parts of the female anatomy.😁
I only have a basic AV on my computer, just some AVG free version that's... okay, I guess. If anything, I rely more on a decent firewall....and I use the free Comodo for that. Back when I was younger, I used to wait with bated breath for the latest versions of NOD32, Kaspersky, and all those other various AVs and programs, messing around with cracks and useless crap, until I realized what a moron that was. Free stuff works just as well, sometimes even better than the products people pay a fortune for.....or the stuff they download cracks for just to get them to run properly.
Anyway, I've gone a bit off-topic, so let me get back to the point.....honestly, I just hope Windows 7 turns out to be a real product, rather than some rushed "half-baked" mess thrown together quickly, and that it actually works right from day one... I'd honestly rather wait another three years for a real OS to be released than install something now that'll just need a Windows 7 SP in a year.
