In my neck of the woods here in Washington, D.C., that specific insult doesn't carry much weight, but I know for a fact it hits much harder in certain parts of the country.

I am also reaching out to the moderators to ask for protection against these insults, because I am certainly no communist, nor have I ever been a member of the party, unlike people such as Jadranka Kosor, Bebić, or anyone else of that ilk!
In fact, my family was actually persecuted under the old regime, so being labeled this way feels like a genuine insult to me!

When I first decided to kick this thread off, my main inspiration was actually to turn those PDFs into something akin to a digital billboard for mobile devices.
In my view, no technical PDF should ever be used as a vehicle for promoting specific service providers.
It would be far more effective to implement a moderation style that stays away from mobile phone specifics entirely, yet still holds people accountable for the usual nonsense.
I'm talking about things like spamming, blatant advertising, and similar distractions.
I am genuinely relieved to see that the admins have grasped the core intent behind what we're trying to achieve here!

Personally, I couldn't care less about the petty squabbles, but that PDF isn't even an issue for the moderation team.
There are plenty of much worse corners on this forum.
And you won't find nearly enough rule violations over there to overwhelm the super mods or admins.
In my view, the PDF mobile phones section is one of the more pleasant areas on this forum, and whenever I messed up back when I had my old username, I received a warning; at least the mods are always prompt, even if they aren't constantly visible.
The staff does a good job, and they should be left alone.
As for why they aren't around all the time, good grief, this isn't some high-paid corporate gig.
I'm just waiting for two more "experts" to start trashing that PDF, and then the whole thing will be a total mess.

well, fine. It’s pretty common knowledge that moderators aren't always online due to their own lives and responsibilities, but if you spot something that shouldn't be there, you can just flag it for hollowtrucker77 or tyndall, and they'll jump on it immediately.
At least, that's how I handle things.
By the way, you two who seem to be the loudest voices here—you're practically campaigning for moderator positions at this point, regardless of what you actually say about it.
Personally, I find that kind of subtle maneuvering quite distasteful, and I suspect I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Gender selection is already available on the forum. There is absolutely no need for some ridiculous "verification" process. If a man feels like a woman, he should just set his profile to female—regardless of biological reality. Same goes for the reverse.

It is vital to address someone according to their declared gender. Use masculine pronouns for men and feminine for women. To be clear: the actual biological reality is irrelevant.

I am repeating myself once again (since apparently it needs to be said). The gender field would only be provided for those users who actually want it—meaning, only for those who define it themselves. It’s exactly how it works right now. This wouldn't be some mandatory requirement that you have to fill out just to access the forum.

Note:
It’s just as irrelevant whether someone entered their actual birth date or simply made it up. A date of birth is just another piece of data currently sitting on this forum.

When we talk about general etiquette, it covers much more ground than just gender markers. For instance, you can usually tell from the context of a post whether someone is a man or a woman....
And since birth years aren't visible, there's no reason every single user should feel forced to list them.
If you're going to argue that logic, why stop there? Why shouldn't we require Social Security numbers?
The real issue is that as our ideas evolve, how long would it take for some self-proclaimed genius to decide we need to collect even more personal data?
Adding gender labels isn't going to make this forum any better, that's for sure.....
