ruggedeagle95 said:What kind of bacteria or viruses are we actually talking about here? Aside from the obvious risk of hepatitis, which is obviously dangerous, can things get even worse? For instance, someone mentioned that one person eats Nutella, licks the knife, sticks it back in the jar, and then the rest of us end up eating from that same jar using that same knife. What's the real damage there? 🙄

It’s not just that we’re all using the same knife; it’s that people are dipping it straight back into the Nutella jar after licking it off. I swear, I’ve seen this happen a hundred times. If I catch anyone doing that, I’m out—I am absolutely not touching that jar. It drives me insane. When we buy a tub of Nutella for everyone to share, can we please just act like civilized adults and spread it on bread properly instead of leaving a trail of saliva everywhere? Is it possible to catch something from that? Honestly, who knows, but there's spit in the food, so there's gotta be something there. Either way, it's disgusting.

Look, I don't always scrub the toilet seat after someone else uses it, but if they do? I don't see anything wrong with that. Even if it’s a close friend or someone I actually like. Honestly, if there are some wet wipes nearby, I’ll give the seat a quick wipe just to be safe. I always leave things spotless when I’m done, but you know how some people are—they spray everything and leave little droplets everywhere. I’m not about to sit in that, regardless of whether it was my best friend or a family member. You don't need to be totally paranoid and sanitize everything after every single person, but if you remember to wipe it down once in a while, why not? When I'm out in the city, I usually avoid public restrooms unless it's an absolute emergency, and even then, I make sure I have wipes on me. I touch everything when I'm out—subway railings, whatever—but I'm careful not to touch my face or eat until I can wash up. Once I get home, I just give my hands a good scrub and call it a day. It's the same routine I've always had: washing before and after meals, before and after using the restroom, washing my face, all that stuff.

If everyone around here actually bothered to wash their glasses properly, we wouldn't have half the sick people we do. 😁 I feel like we either need to grab a drink at a bar or just pick up some pastries from a bakery. Honestly, though, what’s actually bugging me are my coworkers. They’re constantly dipping into other people's containers and eating out of stuff that isn't theirs. It's disgusting and completely unhygienic. There are days when someone won't even bother washing a spoon; they'll just give it a quick rinse and toss it back in with the clean dishes. It's gross. 😕

That’s just gross. Honestly, I’d rather they don't wash it at all and let someone else do a decent job than have them toss dirty laundry back in with the clean stuff. If this were happening at home, fine—whatever, their house, their rules. But doing that at work in front of everyone? It’s like some people just leave their basic manners and common sense at the front door.🤷It honestly drives me nuts when someone’s digging into a jar of Nutella or whatever, slathering it on their toast, and then they actually lick the excess off the knife before shoving it back into the jar. Now we all get to share whatever saliva they left behind. It’s absolutely revolting.

Chloe Gomez6 said:I can eat a pastry without worrying about the paper wrap. Honestly, who even knows whose hands touched it before it got wrapped up? That’s the least of my problems, though I don't really take the subway. The pastries don't gross me out at all—I'm way more concerned about grabbing a soda or coffee at some dive bar out of a glass that some random person was just sipping from a minute ago.
I don't carry around disinfectant wipes like a maniac. I wash my hands after using the restroom, when I get home from work, and yeah, before I eat.

I mean, they probably wash the glasses well enough, but I've definitely had a few where you could see the grease left on them. They probably just run it under some water and call it a day because they aren't the ones drinking out of it. I actually caught herpes once, almost certainly because of stuff like that, since I never drink out of someone else's glass when I'm at home...

Carol Scott98 said:Look, I saw this show where a woman was describing how her husband had IBM and she didn't catch it, even though they were intimate for years without knowing. She’d been carrying the virus for ages and somehow escaped infection... which honestly sounds impossible to me. But that's what she said in the clip. It was pretty blurry, so I couldn't even tell who she was...🤷
I don't know, you just can't be too careful...

I've heard stories about that too—cases where a guy has IBM, doesn't realize it, sleeps with his wife for years, and she stays negative. Then you have people who get stuck by a needle and it's game over. I guess it all comes down to a bunch of different factors. That woman was incredibly lucky, but you can't bank on luck working the same way for everyone, so like you said, you have to protect yourself. It actually reminds me of some horror story I heard about a guy who stabbed his wife with a needle soaked in his own blood. Even though she hadn't been infected before, things went south fast. They stayed together for the kids, and then he did that to her... just sick. And as for condoms, they aren't a 100% guarantee either. The risk might be low, but it's still there. As for whether anyone has actually caught it that way? Who knows. Unfortunately, everyone's first time is a gamble.

ruggedeagle95 said:The worst part is how conflicting everything is. You read one thing online, then a doctor tells you something completely different... it’s just total chaos.😕

Exactly. Honestly, you just have to look out for yourself as much as possible. Don't drink or eat anything someone else has touched. I'm not about to be sharing drinks or food with anyone—what's the point of having our own glasses and plates? I don't care if someone's offended; why would I risk my health? Mono is bad enough, but who knows what else you might pick up from someone else's leftovers...
mögth be even worse.

ruggedeagle95 said:Come on, give me a break. It’s really not that deep—they just passed on a little bit of spit and nothing else. 😉 So, how does the theory even work where they say you could technically pass on IBM through deep kissing (not just a quick peck)? I honestly have no clue if that’s ever actually happened in real life...

I read somewhere that couples can end up infecting each other because they’re dealing with gum issues—like bleeding gums and stuff. Look, besides saliva, you’ve got blood involved too if someone has a little cut inside their mouth or if their gums are acting up. I'm not exactly sure what the specific conditions are for a more serious transmission, but blood can definitely show up in saliva. According to the data on IBM, besides the most common ways people get infected, there are cases like IDO, who caught it through a different route entirely. Honestly, I don't know how it works exactly.🤷

Carol Scott98 said:Look, lady, please don't get mad and don't take this the wrong way, but I think you're overreacting a bit. Yeah, I get anxious about this stuff, but if my bottle cap falls on the ground, I just rinse it under some water or wipe it with a wet wipe if there's no sink nearby and put it back. I don't see why I couldn't eat a pastry if I washed my hands first. Besides, who's to say the clerk at the bakery didn't handle those pastries with dirty hands? There's no need to go overboard here... Picking something up off the floor and shoving it into a kid's mouth is a hard pass for me, obviously, but I honestly think it's better to let a child deal with a moderate amount of dust and grime so they build up an immune system. You don't want them hitting their teens having to obsess over every bite or dealing with some dust allergy because their parents kept them living under a glass dome. 👎

Personally, if I can't wash my hands, I'll make sure I don't touch food directly, but I have no problem eating with utensils or drinking from a bottle. Obviously, I wash my hands whenever possible, but sometimes you find yourself somewhere where washing isn't an option, and I'm not going to starve just because of that.

And—like I said—I always carry disinfectant wipes on me, so everyone stays happy. 😍😍

No, she didn't rinse the cap. I was out with a friend once and her cap fell, so I offered her a wipe, but it landed in some bushes filled with trash instead. 😕But she wouldn't even wipe it; she just put it right back, still covered in dirt. It's the same thing when I'm hanging out with someone who won't wash their hands, and then they just grab a pastry straight out of the bag and start eating. Look, I get that there are situations where you can't be perfect, but if a girl hands you a bag, it's normal to just eat from it. I'm not totally paranoid—my own cap has fallen a few times, and I'll give it a good wipe before putting it back—but I was talking about putting it back while it's still filthy. 😁 As for the kid, that's a bit much for me; at least wipe it off first... I make sure not to touch food with my bare hands if I can't wash up; at least I'll use a wet wipe, or if there's silverware, even better. Hehe, but what gets me most is what was mentioned above: when a woman walks out of the restroom without washing her hands and then acts like royalty, despite having zero basic manners. You don't have to be paranoid, but some things should just be common sense.

Olivia Jones3 said:The absolute worst is when someone walks out of the bathroom and doesn't wash their hands. Especially if they're young, female, and acting all high and mighty. ☕
And my favorite part is when they head straight to the kitchen right after to wash dishes I’m supposed to be eating from. 🤮
Then they have the nerve to laugh at me like I'm just some hand-washing obsessive. 😱 🤦

Da, or when they walk in from outside and immediately go to prep dinner or whatever. It drives me crazy, but if I say anything, I'm the one who looks like a germaphobe. Honestly, people have no idea what I've seen in my life—walking through the city and seeing kids eating with filthy hands, or a toddler dropping a pacifier on the ground, wiping it off quickly, and shoving it back in their mouth. It's disgusting. And it irritates me when people drink juice or milk straight from the bottle; why even bother with glasses? Then you have people who take a bite of food and then put the leftovers back in the container, or drop a bottle cap on the floor and just pick it up and keep going. Some people really have zero class. When I eat out, I stick to things wrapped in paper—pastries or croissants—stuff I can eat without touching it with my hands. But there are people who grab food out of the wrapper, and then when they get home and don't wash their hands, I feel awkward bringing up the hand-washing thing. It makes me sick thinking about that person making me coffee or washing a glass... you just don't know what to do. And then there are the smokers or people picking their noses who just carry on cooking or cleaning without a second thought. It's just plain gross.

rapidbadger9 said:I just grab mine at some local little pharmacy nearby, nothing special... I end up paying the same amount anyway $42 :/... haven't heard of anything cheaper, just more expensive stuff 🤷 but whatever... it worked wonders for me. The breakouts are gone, just some leftover pigmentation issues :S though I'm planning on getting dermabrasion to fix that, like my dermatologist suggested... mhm... there was one stretch where I stopped taking it and my skin basically staged a comeback, so I jumped back on it for another month... hoping everything finally settles this time around 😍

A while back, I went to that pharmacy downtown, "Pablo Central Pharmacy," and it was about $35, which was pricey, but when I went back the second time they didn't even have it. The clerk had no clue they used to carry Rathioharam; she thought it was some other brand. Now I just hit up CVS Pharmacy, it's $42. Anyway, I was on them for maybe two months about three years ago, but since it was summer, I had to stop. My skin cleared up for a minute, then it totally flared back up. I've been back on them for three months now, and my face is looking better, except for this peeling thing—not sure if that's a side effect 😕. How many months total were you on them straight? Like, how long was your whole treatment? 😁
Minocycline (Rathioharam) in Health ·
I’m currently on my third pack of Minocycline. Honestly, I haven't dealt with any side effects so far, which is a win, but I haven't seen any massive transformations yet either. My skin is definitely looking better, but I've got this nagging fear that once I stop taking it, everything is just going to crash back to where it started. Also, quick question—where are you guys picking yours up and what's the damage? I heard prices vary like crazy; the CVS Pharmacy I use charges $42, but apparently, there are cheaper options out there. If anyone knows where to find a better deal, let me know. Thanks.
Motion sickness while driving in Health ·
I deal with nausea too, so I never hit the road without my Dramamine. I haven't really messed around with other brands yet, but they’re doing the job for now. That said, sometimes the sickness hits me regardless of what I take. If you want to try staying steady, keep your eyes on the road ahead, sit up front, and stop staring out the side windows. Don't read, don't eat anything heavy besides some pretzels or crackers, and stay away from soda...

Same thing happened to me last week in the exact same spot—just this little lump that was super tender to the touch. It cleared up after a few days, though. Probably just a localized skin infection or something, might be what you're dealing with too.
Same thing happened to me once—it stayed red for a couple of days. It was driving me crazy because, obviously, I couldn't stop picking at it. Honestly, don't mess with it too much unless you want things to get ugly... you really shouldn't play around with your belly button like that.
