Suggestions received and noted. Poll coming soon! 👍 Also, I'm stoked about the Swans news—glad it wasn't you guys... honestly, in a few weeks, I might just throw Great Annihilator into the mix. 😁
It’s Thursday, which means it's time for suggestions! Let's not go overboard though... just 4 or 5 good ones so we can get straight to the poll.
My pick: Stone Temple Pilots - Core (1992)
Tracklist Dead & Bloated 5:10 Sex Type Thing 3:38 Wicked Garden 4:06 No Memory 1:20 Sin 6:05 Naked Sunday 3:49 Creep 5:34 Piece Of Pie 5:24 Plush 5:14 Wet My Bed 1:37 Crackerman 3:14 Where The River Goes
Honestly, I didn't really vibe with them back in the day. They just felt like any other mainstream pop or rock band playing on the radio during my teenage years in the 90s and early 2000s... nothing really jumped out at me.
It wasn't until later, after a buddy of mine insisted I take a deeper dive—especially into those older tracks—that I actually started to notice all that technical electronic complexity. Plus, they’ve got that signature 80s dark edge that I absolutely love...
Oh, and one thing that totally caught me off guard was "I Can't Get Enough." It's such an uncharacteristically upbeat track from their early days, and honestly, they never really leaned into that sound again 😁
While Strangelove definitely hits that "greatest hits" vibe, the opening track, Never Let Me Down, is easily one of their most iconic signatures.
I didn't really get into Depeche Mode until my mid-twenties... I guess you just have to grow up a bit to appreciate them, right? It’s funny, though—Music for the Masses is anything but music for the masses! It's wild to think they actually had to fight to break through with a sound like this...
To be honest, I usually find myself spinning some of their later stuff more often because it hits a certain sentimental chord for me, but this album is still such a blast to listen to.

I remember watching this cool documentary during a DORF event about this guy from the UK. He was super adamant about old-school record production and that classic vinyl warmth... he even mentioned turning down certain artists because they just wanted that hyper-clean, ultra-loud digital sound, blah blah blah.
Sure, digital tech gives us insane levels of clarity, volume, and pure sonic perfection. But honestly? Vinyl is special precisely because of its technical "flaws." If you set aside personal bias, those little imperfections are actually what make it so much more pleasant to the ear...
Seriously, if there are more than four albums involved, why even bother waiting? I can't set up the poll any other way than by how many days it's been since it was posted. And honestly, why make things so complicated? 😛

Man, sounds like one heck of a job... ☕ 😬 But hey, no biggie, it’s not like everyone is rushing to listen to this stuff right this second anyway...
I think I've listened to it already, but I really want to give it another spin before I sit down to write out my thoughts. That's just how it is.
Check out the scoreboard 👋 It's been 24 hours, so I'm calling on our new album nominator to go ahead and start a fresh thread once everything's ready to go 😉
So, I went ahead and picked up a CD from this band I saw playing live... figured I'd have some decent tunes for my drives since the radio stations are basically playing nothing worth hearing lately... but then, wouldn't you know it? It won't even load in my car ☕
Oh yeah, and Johnny Cash too. Man, our boy Dennis Hall41 is such a massive fan of American music and alt-country, I honestly thought he was already right at home here 😁
Dennis Hall41 said:No way, I am not feeling Depeche Mode today... definitely not that synth-pop vibe!!! I seriously need to get back into some Folke...😁
Haha, well if you're actually going to go on a total music strike, you still have at least two albums left that you haven't properly listened to yet...😬
You just can't go wrong with Depeche Mode... honestly. I wasn't even really into them that much until a few years ago, but then they just kind of clicked, you know? Now they're constantly on my playlists...
And what's with all the drama surrounding the voting again? 😬 Just vote for whatever you're actually vibing with right now and call it a day! 😁
I was spinning some JJ Cale the other day and he's just been hitting the spot lately... fits my mood perfectly. But hey, whatever ends up being picked, it’s gonna be good anyway 🙂
That one's a solid pick for the representative 😁 And yeah, I'll definitely keep it in mind for the poll this Thursday or Friday. We said we'd stick to maybe four or five max, just so the poll doesn't get too cluttered... Honestly, everyone should have a chance to get their turn 🙂 If you don't change your mind, we'll go with Naturally.
It’s gotta be Johnny Cash. Honestly, it might actually be pretty cool to dive into some classics for a change 👍 So, Jessica Morris6, let me know when you're ready... You can just copy over the suggestion post for the new thread if that's easier, but hey, totally up to you. Just whenever you're set 😉
Tracklist Perspective I Ode To The Sun 4:12 Bug Eyes 4:14 Catch Without Arms 4:11 Not That Simple 4:56 Zebraskin 3:26 The Tanbark Is Hot Lava 3:45 Sang Real 4:29
Perspective II Planting Seeds 4:12 Spitshine 3:34 Jamais Vu 4:56 Hung Over On A Tuesday 4:05 Matroshka (The Ornament) 5:38
It’s Thursday, so let's get those suggestions rolling in for our new Album of the Week! 👍 All we need are four picks, and whoever gets them in first will be the one making it into the official poll... let's keep things simple and not overthink the selection process too much.
