Now that I've actually sat down and thought about it, honestly? It’s probably for the best that they picked him up 😬 ... better safe than sorry, right?
That’s why torrents are hands down the best way to go. You download stuff whenever you feel like it, and watch it whenever, wherever... plus, in the US, we aren't really getting hammered by lawsuits because of how things are set up. First off, our market is just too massive and chaotic for them to track everyone down and sue us all individually. And second, with how often IP addresses rotate around here, trying to track anyone is basically a nightmare for them.
And man, all that cash this guy pulled in from those ads... honestly, it was only a matter of time before someone took notice. The second he caught someone's eye, the clock started ticking...

Jessica Morris6 said:YouTube takes copyright seriously. Any full movies you see on there are either uploaded with explicit permission from the creators or they've fallen into the public domain. You aren't going to find any major blockbusters sitting there waiting for you. They even use video fingerprinting technology. It doesn't matter if you upload Avatar and try to label it Brlj, brlj... their algorithms will recognize the opening credits or specific scenes instantly and flag it...
Fair point about the blockbusters, but there's also a mountain of documentaries and those indie films that still carry plenty of copyright protection too.
He was just uploading whatever movies he had lying around, stuff you could easily find on any torrent site anyway. I don't recall seeing those warnings about staying far away from his stuff... Honestly, how many full-length movies can you even have up on YouTube before someone notices?

Otherwise and far, I still feel like the third one just doesn't hit like the first two...
For me, though, the second and third ones are the heavy hitters. The third one feels a bit different, sure, but it’s got some seriously strong tracks. So much energy...
And this Amnesty International stuff? Nothing sticks with me at all.
Man, this new album is definitely their weakest one yet. I’ve given it a few spins now and honestly? It just doesn't hit nearly as hard as those first three records... I don't see myself putting this on repeat very often. It’s a relief they didn't actually break up like everyone was predicting, though! But after hearing how much they leaned into that vibe on Amnesty (I), they just don't feel quite as fresh to me... They used to have that perfect mix of being depressingly moody and high-energy all at once, you know? Not really feeling it this time...
Just finished listening to the whole thing. The way the album flows really changed my perspective... 🙂 Honestly, it's just solid. A pretty great listen overall.
Honestly, everyone already spilled the beans on how Emma is an absolute treasure. And they're right—it’s innovative, fresh, a little bit moody and melancholic, but just gorgeous. It really hit home when it first came out. Now? I feel like we've almost moved on from it already.
So, I'm listening to this new one right now... honestly, there's just way too much autotune and electronic stuff for my taste so far 🤔
It’s got those classic Payne vibes—all those recurring themes and motifs... midlife crises (or is it late-life?), old affairs resurfacing, father-child dynamics, people pulling away emotionally, existentialism, looking back at life... kind of reminds me of Descendants or Nebraska. Jack Nicholson plays one of his most down-to-earth roles here, but man, he is so captivating and interesting to watch. The situations, the snappy comebacks, the dialogue... it's all just great.
Really solid stuff. Not overhyped, and just perfectly paced. 🙂
I know I’m bumping this thread after 11 years, but hey, what can you do? 😛 Just stumbled upon it through a Google search... 😬
I thought the movie was incredible—honestly, probably McQueen's best work yet. I get why some people might find those long takes a bit much or the whole vibe too gloomy, but for me? It hit perfectly. Plus, it’s easily one of Fassbender's most intense performances ever.
It does such a killer job showing that total emptiness you see in satire (specifically regarding male nymphomania) and that complete inability to actually connect with anyone else... whether it's family stuff, like how the lead deals with his troubled sister, or just messy romantic relationships. It really captures that modern American struggle with isolation, chasing careers, being hyper-individualistic, narcissism... You name it.
I just finished watching Charles Bronson, which was awesome! Truly one of Hardy's best roles... man, that guy Bronson was just incredible.
And I still have such good memories of Drive—that neo-noir atmosphere is just something else.
But I finally sat down today and watched Drive, the first one. I'll get to the other two eventually... my stomach just isn't really up for that kind of intensity right now LOL thinking I think it’s solid, though. Super intriguing. You can definitely see those trends from back then, like Dogme 95 (Vinterberg) and Lars von Trier: the shaky cam, the raw realism without all the flashy effects, the straight chronological plot... and damn, why does it feel like gangsters always have to be Mexicans 😬 especially since our guy is playing the main dealer... plus you've got Arkan's photo hanging in the background of the apartment 😬
It's such a harsh underground world, so much aggression. I actually had some pretty confused feelings about the main character. One minute I’m thinking, yeah, you gotta take these dealers down, and then I'm telling myself, oh wait, give him a chance... but then, while he's out trying to make money for them, he ends up being even worse to his own friends than those dealers are to him!
Such a great flick, honestly pretty ahead of its time. At first, I was bracing myself for some gritty story about debauchery, since everyone seems to be living these hollow, miserable lives—at least according to those movie posters from back then, which always leaned into that theme 😬
But nope! Instead, we get these two awesome parallel storylines that really dive deep into much more complex stuff. I actually found myself wishing they’d been a bit more explicit about the chemistry between Idgie and Ruth... I mean, come on, just lean into it! Give us more substance! 😁
And man, Kathy Bates was absolutely killing it during that era. Such a beautiful way to weave her character's growth together, watching her evolve from a trapped, unhappy woman in her 40s into someone who finally takes the reins of her own life.
Overall, it's this vibrant, funny drama that perfectly captures that 90s vibe of, "How do I actually get my life together when I'm totally stuck?" Sometimes you just need to hear a truly moving story told by an extraordinary person to make you want to go out and live it all for yourself...
That's just how the story goes, if you take it metaphorically. It's a total breath of fresh air 🙂
