Hey, is Lorka7 available?

Sure thing, just reach out to Nice.
My nose stays completely blocked through the night, and even once morning rolls around, this congestion just refuses to budge.

I suppose that's all there really is to say, isn't it? Just me. kaže:
Another thing that really caught me off guard was this one friend of mine—someone I’ve always considered a "really good" friend—who hasn't even reached out to check in on me for weeks. She hasn't asked how I'm doing, how my doctor's appointments went, or anything about the pregnancy, because honestly, she just doesn't seem interested. She doesn't ask any questions, and she isn't even aware that I've been on strict bed rest for two weeks now. At first, I tried to talk myself down, thinking maybe I was just being dramatic or expecting too much—you know, assuming everyone wants to hear all the details about the pregnancy, how the baby is growing, if there's a new ultrasound photo, or whether the little one is kicking left or right, or high or low. But then again, she isn't even dating, let alone at a stage in her life where she's even thinking about kids. Do you think this kind of distance is forgivable, or is it possible that pregnant women just become way too self-absorbed and obsessed with their own situation?
It’s funny how life works, isn't it? My closest friends just seemed to vanish into thin air the moment I found out I was pregnant for the first time. It makes you wonder where everyone goes when things actually get real.
I didn't exactly have it in my plans to keep drifting through our weekend hangouts like this, though I suppose I didn't foresee us being unable to grab a quick coffee together either. It’s funny how things shift; I wasn't anticipating that our conversations would narrow down solely to pregnancy talk, yet somehow, I didn't see coming that we might just stop talking altogether.
They didn't even bother to reach out to me. Not once.
In the beginning, I was always the one reaching out, the one making every single move to start a conversation or keep things moving, but eventually, I just hit a wall and realized I couldn't be the only one trying anymore. Honestly, I just got tired of being the only one putting in the effort, you know?
I’m really not going to go around begging anyone to hang out with me.
They really did a number on me, I suppose, but what can you do? It is what it is, right? I guess they just weren't the kind of friends I thought they were, at least not in the way I had imagined them being.
Life just keeps moving forward, doesn't it? At the end of the day, the people who truly care about you—the ones who actually see your value—are the ones who will make the effort to stay in your life. 🙂 Whether you’re actually pregnant or not, and whether they're truly biological or not, it really doesn't change the reality of the situation.

I ended up doing much the same thing with a few so-called "friends" of mine recently.
I’ve always felt that true friends are the ones who stick by you regardless of what kind of chaos is unfolding in your world or theirs. It shouldn't matter if you're hitting a massive peak or sliding into a bit of a valley; if the friendship is real, they aren't going anywhere, right? Life gets messy, and people get distracted, but those core connections should remain steady through all the noise.
Some things can be adjusted, I suppose, but you can't just flip a switch and cut someone out of your life if you actually give a damn about them, can you?

I don't think anyone expects to be grilled about their pregnancy and future child every single second,
but it does feel a bit dismissive when close friends ignore the situation entirely or never bother to check in on how you're actually feeling.
At the end of the day, this is a massive part of our lives right now, and it isn't exactly possible to pretend it isn't happening.
It's not like I've passed away—I'm just pregnant. Nothing stops me from grabbing a latte, hitting the shops, or chatting about literally anything else. It's not as if my vocabulary has been limited strictly to diapers and nursery colors.
For heaven's sake, I need a break too, and I still need social interaction and varied conversation topics.
Along with everything else that makes me who I am, I've simply added "mom" to the list.
I honestly can't wrap my head around why they've decided that we can't—or shouldn't—hang out like we used to. 🤷

I couldn't agree more.
It seems they've decided to write you off simply because they're nursing some inexplicable jealousy or malice, which, frankly, sounds as absurd as it is disappointing. In the end, it sounds like they weren't really your friends to begin with.
ironjackal20 said:Never say never. Try to see things from her perspective. We dealt with infertility for years, and even though we loved seeing other people's kids, there were certain things I just couldn't handle lately, like kids' birthday parties. They were a total nightmare for me. When everyone else has children, you constantly deal with that awkward "So, when is it your turn?" pressure. I handled it by telling everyone I wouldn't be coming anymore because it was just too hard. I'd always send a gift later, but being in a group of twenty couples where everyone has toddlers and then suddenly prying into my private life was too much.
My husband didn't have the guts to be upfront with his friends, so he just made up excuses for why we couldn't make it. I thought it was pointless, but it was his call and I respect that.
Maybe it's just harder for your friend than it is for you, which is why she can't even pick up the phone or send a text. Give her some grace.

Look, I didn't mean to sound extreme, but I certainly looked at the bigger picture of her past behavior before deciding to step away from the friendship. I empathize with the female experience; I've seen plenty of heartbreaking stories in my own circle involving miscarriages, fibroids, or stillbirths. In all those instances, my friends were supportive, even if some preferred to stay quiet about the details. On top of that, my own pregnancy is high-risk due to an underlying health issue she’s well aware of. However, I struggle to see how it's possible to lack even a shred of basic courtesy for four and a half months—like sending a simple text if she isn't up for talking. We all process things differently, but in her case, this feels selfish and hypocritical, and I have no desire to maintain a connection under any circumstances moving forward.🥳 It's because I suspect these character flaws would surface again eventually, regardless of anyone's pregnancy status.
Charles Moore49 said:Charles Moore49, you sound just like my own folks, because my entire family has always been absolutely devoted to animals, and I personally grew up in a home where our cats were treated as true members of the family and lived incredibly long, pampered lives... I eventually passed that same affection down to my husband and his relatives, so now they have their own pets too, while we enjoy our two little ones here... and honestly, I’ve had to navigate some toxic dynamics myself lately...
It truly gets under my skin when people try to lecture me about something they clearly haven't experienced, especially those who claim to be animal lovers yet have the audacity to ask, "Why would you want cats in the first place?"
Then there is this other situation that really caught me off guard involving a friend I thought was "so close," yet she hasn't even reached out in weeks to see how I'm doing or how my doctor's appointment went, and she shows zero interest in my pregnancy—she doesn't ask questions or even realize that I've been on strict bed rest for two whole weeks now... at first, I wondered if I was being dramatic, thinking maybe I expect too much from people, hoping they'd care about how the baby is growing, if I have a new ultrasound photo, or if the little one is kicking left or right... but she isn't even dating, let alone thinking about kids, so she just doesn't get it... do you all think this behavior is forgivable, or are pregnant women just naturally too self-absorbed in their own condition?
And the third thing that is driving me absolutely crazy is my mother-in-law constantly trying to kiss and touch my belly, topped off by her repeatedly demanding, "Let me see my grandbaby!"😠

First off, I'm right there with Zlatan and you. My situation is much the same; I have a cat who stays indoors mostly but gets to stretch her legs outside occasionally. I’ve also dealt with toxoplasmosis (though my vet mentioned it isn't a total guarantee of safety since the virus can reactivate later on). Regardless, the idea of getting rid of her never crosses my mind because she is a member of this family.😍
Secondly, I’ve touched on this before regarding my "good" friend's reaction—or lack thereof—to my pregnancy news, and how another "dear" friend
from about a year and a half ago🙄 hasn't called, texted, or made any effort to contact me at all since I found out four months ago. I know she’s aware, as are her sister, her mother, and our mutual friends. I can guess the possible reasons behind her silence—perhaps she's struggling with her own difficulty conceiving for over a year—but regardless, this behavior feels selfish and entirely unneighborly. I don't expect people to be fascinated by every milestone of my pregnancy, but I do expect my friends to be happy for my happiness. As far as I'm concerned, that friendship is over.☕.
Maria Fisher46 said:The assumption here is that this result stems from an improperly collected urine sample, which suggests there shouldn't be much cause for alarm. However, since you are pregnant, it would be prudent to coordinate with your OB-GYN to have the test repeated.

When it comes to pregnancy, we generally aim for nothing less than a perfectly clean bill of health.

Thanks!
Maria Fisher46 said:Dear lady,

The second issue, which complicates how we read these results—particularly during pregnancy—is that bacteria naturally residing in the lower part of the urinary tract can occasionally trigger an actual infection.

I believe it would be wise, in coordination with your OB-GYN, to repeat the urine culture, paying extra attention to ensuring the sample is collected perfectly this time.

Best regards. 🙂

Hello, thank you for getting back to me.
To be honest, I'm still a bit lost; my sister, who handed me this report, told me everything was fine, but after falling down a rabbit hole of online searches, I've ended up quite worried.🤷 Is there actually anything in these results that warrants concern?
Could some kind soul walk me through the following urine culture results:
Number of microorganisms <10 on 4 CFU/ml
Resident flora of the distal urethra

By the way, my doctor sent me for this culture because of some minor bacteria found in my initial urinalysis. I tried asking for advice on pregnancy forums, but I haven't received any answers.
I found myself somewhat taken aback by the reaction—or rather, the complete lack thereof—from certain "friends" when I shared the news about my pregnancy. It wasn't exactly the joyful reception one might expect, which led me to the realization that I was likely facing nothing more than envy and resentment. Honestly, it’s quite a distasteful way to behave.
Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A in Health ·
I’ve been wondering about the protocols regarding general anesthesia during pregnancy. It is my understanding that general anesthesia is typically considered an absolute contraindication, much like how one might avoid certain high-risk maneuvers in other delicate situations, but what happens when delaying surgery until after delivery poses a genuine threat to the mother's health?
