Does family fame make things harder or easier for you? in Random / Off-topic ·
I was thinking about this the other day while catching up with some relatives. It’s funny how much your family tree can shape your own identity, especially if someone in the clan manages to make a massive name for themselves. It’s a weird psychological tightrope to walk—you want to be proud of them, obviously, but there’s also that subtle pressure to live up to a certain standard or the feeling that you're always being measured against their shadow.

I have a cousin who’s pretty well-known in her specific industry, and honestly, it’s made family gatherings a little surreal. Sometimes it feels like people are looking at me just to see if I inherited the same "spark," or they expect me to have all the inside scoop on her life. It can make it tough to just be yourself without feeling like you're part of a brand.

Do you guys feel like having a famous or highly successful relative changes the dynamic of your personal ambitions?
Gen Z in India actually making moves in Politics ·
It's pretty wild to see Gen Z in India actually forcing a minister to step down like that. Usually, it feels like young people's voices just get ignored by the government, but this seems like a huge win for student activism. Do you think this will lead to more widespread changes in how the government listens to the youth?

neonharbor18 said:Honestly, these polls are just a bit silly, aren't they?😂😂 First off, who can actually guarantee that McLaren and Ferrari will secure those top two spots regardless of how things shake out? In my opinion, I think STR, Toyota, or even Force India have a much better shot at being the third-best team compared to Honda🤣. While Honda might be able to fight for a podium spot, if we're looking at the standings from the bottom up, they'd probably only manage to climb as high as 9th place at most😬.

Look, man, I really don't think Toyota has much of a shot at landing that third spot—it's a long shot at best. I threw Honda into the mix too, just to bump them up to fifth in the running. Honestly, we'll just have to wait and see if they actually manage to pull in any real votes.

Force India? Man, that was a lifetime ago... long before the whole Torro Rosso era even kicked in.

Those are my favorites, honestly—and I genuinely think we’re looking at a massive dogfight for that third-place spot!😉

With the season creeping up on us, I’m starting to get this nagging feeling that the real dogfight is actually going to be over third place in the constructors' standings!👍
I mean, look at Ford—they were sitting pretty in third last year—but now they've got General Motors and Williams breathing down their necks. Even Jergovic is out there claiming Williams is looking absolutely lethal right now. Plus, you can't ignore Red Bull or their sister team Torro Rosso, especially since Coulthard was putting up some seriously impressive numbers during testing.

So, what's the verdict? What do you guys think?😕

p.s. Honestly, if someone *doesn't* predict Ferrari or McLaren taking that third spot, I'd be genuinely shocked... so go ahead, let me hear it. Give me your best shot... 😛🙂

FIA bans engine development in Formula 1 ·
👎 👎 What kind of nonsense are you guys even talking about here?!

Implementing a development freeze would basically just kill Formula 1 off entirely—it'd be game over long before the ban actually expired. It’s like saying you can play in the NFL, but nobody’s allowed to actually practice during the week. Makes zero sense.😂

And what about the teams that haven't even hit the grid yet, huh🤷? Are they supposed to commit to an engine provider by the end of 2008 too, or do they get some breathing room once they actually show up a year or two down the line?

Or look at the backmarkers—the smaller outfits trying to climb the ladder. Under these rules, they'll just stay stuck right where they are for the next decade. Seriously,🙏 this is just pure stupidity...

If this was actually a thing, why isn't there a single word about it on the official website?

Do you even realize how massive this news actually is?!

I mean, seriously—would you even care about the World Cup if the teams were called Ferrari, Renault, or whatever other Formula 1 outfit you throw at them?

Peasant,
I'm pretty sure it's out there somewhere, but I haven't seen anyone actually talking about it since everything was finally signed and settled.

As far as I can remember—until just a few days ago, anyway—it was all just pure speculation and rumors...

Formula 1 is in a league of its own. They can try to invent whatever rules or narratives they want, but at the end of the day, nothing else even comes close to the level of Formula 1.

I mean, at least they're decent enough to fill up a dead weekend between races—and honestly, with those V12 engines, they might actually turn out to be more interesting than people are expecting.

So, I was reading today that they finally confirmed the schedule for the Super League for 2008. The calendar is pretty much set, and there’s only one spot left for a single team.

"Los Angeles Flamengo, AC Milan, Porto, PSV Eindhoven, Olympiacos, Anderlecht, Borussia Dortmund, FC Basel, and Galatasaray have formed a brand new racing competition—the Formula 1 Championship—set to kick off this August 2008."

"The plan is to have 20 cars hitting the track, rocking 750 horsepower and V12 engines, all decked out in the colors of some of the biggest clubs in the world. There is still just one opening left in the championship, reserved for the fastest, most determined soccer team out there."

"The 2008 Calendar: Indianapolis Motor Speedway (USA, August 29), Nürburgring (Germany, September 20), Colder (Belgium, October 4), Italy (track TBD, October 18), Estoril (Portugal, November 1), and Herez (Spain, November 22)."

What's the verdict?

Look, I haven't been registered on this forum long enough to claim I know for sure that people just won't read the actual text!!!

But once it hit me—and there wasn't much I could do about it anyway—I was scrolling through another Poll on here and realized these kinds of polls regarding the official teams are pretty much pointless...

Well, at least looking at these results gave me a good laugh...

Just a quick little tweak to the Poll.

Who's definitely not taking the win in 2008?

So, the season just wrapped up with a Finn taking the crown. Honestly, it was easily the best one I’ve watched in years—and looking at the chatter around here, it seems like I’m not the only one feeling that way.

Now, looking ahead—given how incredibly competitive the Ford team has been and the sheer talent they have lined up—I mean, we're looking at three distinct cars driven by absolute heavyweights (Kimi, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton)... do you guys think anyone else actually stands a chance at winning next season? Or is the field already closed?

In this Poll, go ahead and vote for whoever you think definitely *won't* be standing on top of the podium next year...

I have no clue why you’re convinced Anthony Davidson won't be behind the wheel next season... 👎
Benjamin Hernandez2 said:Regarding Prodrive F1, I just caught wind that there’s some serious doubt about whether they’ll even show up next season... 😢

Anyway, I’m genuinely curious to see how a grid of 24 cars is actually going to look out on the track—and if they’re going to mess with the points system too...

I was actually sitting here digging through the old scoring system today, and honestly, it felt more solid. Maybe if there were a four-point gap between first and second, things wouldn't feel so stale during the race...

Do you think widening the point gaps across the board would actually spark more fighting on track?
Does anyone know if there’s been any actual talk behind closed doors about changing how they award points?
